Police hunt gunman after Seri Alam attempted robbery

JOHOR BAHRU: Police are searching for a gunman involved in an attempted robbery at a business premises in Taman Megah Ria, Seri Alam. The suspect fired a shot before escaping on a motorcycle, according to Seri Alam police chief ACP Mohd Sohaimi Ishak (pic). The incident occurred around 7.10 pm yesterday. The suspect entered the premises and threatened the victim with what appeared to be a pistol, demanding cash. After failing to obtain money, he fired a single shot outside before fleeing. No injuries were reported. Authorities are working to identify the suspect and have classified the case under Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971. CCTV footage of the suspect escaping on a motorcycle has circulated widely on social media. Police urge the public to share any information by contacting the Seri Alam District Control Centre at 07-3871422 or visiting the nearest police station. - Bernama

SUNGAI BULOH: Two foreign men were arrested following a brawl in Kampung Baru Subang here. One of the suspects was already handcuffed when police apprehended him. Sungai Buloh District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Mohd Norin a statement today said the District Control Centre (DCC) received an emergency call at 1.15pm yesterday about a fight at Jalan Dinar, Taman Subang Perdana. "A patrol unit was immediately despatched to the scene, where both suspects, aged 26 and 32, were detained. "One of them was found inside a vehicle with handcuffs on his wrist," he said. Hafiz said police also seized a pair of handcuffs and two Myvi cars from both the suspects and took them back to the headquarters for questioning. "The case is being investigated under multiple legal provisions, including Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing affray, Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a public servant and Section 89 of the Police Act 1967 for possessing police equipment without permission," he said. He said the suspects would also be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering or staying in Malaysia without valid documents, which carries a sentence of up to five years' imprisonment, a fine not exceeding RM10,000, or both, including the possibility of up to six strokes of the cane. Police have urged the public not to speculate on the incident and encouraged anyone with information to come forward. "Members of the public are advised to report any relevant information at the nearest police station or contact the Kampung Baru Subang police station hotline at 03-7846 2322, or Investigating Officer Inspector Ekmal Hasif Mohd Noor at 011-3539 6787," Hafiz said.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down three local men, aged 30 to 40, believed to be involved in an assault and slashing incident at Puchong Intan Apartments in Taman Puchong, near Subang Jaya early this morning. Subang Jaya deputy police chief Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar said his station received a call from a woman informing that her boyfriend was beaten and slashed on the head and body by her ex-husband and two men at 2.15 am. Investigations revealed that the victim, a 47-year-old local man, was living with the ex-wife of one of the suspects at the apartments. 'The victim was beaten with an iron rod and slashed with a knife on his body and head,' he said in a statement today. Mohd Fairus also said that the injured victim was taken to Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang and is currently in stable condition. The motive behind the incident was reportedly linked to domestic issues and jealousy. 'Efforts to track down and apprehend the identified suspects are ongoing, and the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with a sharp weapon,' he added. He appealed to anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Subang Jaya District Control Centre at 03-7862 7222 or Inspector Dinesh Ganasan at 011-330 94457.
