LAHAD DATU: A wooden house was destroyed while three others were damaged in a fire at Kampung Panji, here, on Friday. District Fire and Rescue Station chief, Sumsoa Rashid said, his department received a distress call following the incident at 11.57am. Advertisement A team of firefighters was deployed to the scene in two fire machineries and EMRS vehicle. Police, SESB, Water Department and Civil Defense Force were also on the scene. 'Upon arrival, the team reported that four houses were involved in fire. One of the houses was completely destroyed, two others suffered 20 per cent damage while another house suffered five per cent damage. 'The team carried out the operation to extinguish the fire using two streams with three sprouts and managed to put the fire under control at 12.32pm,' he said. According to Sumsoa, no casualty reported in the incident. He said the operation ended at 1.44pm after the team made sure there was no other danger at the scene. KOTA BELUD: Sixteen residents lost their home when a fire destroyed a two-storey house in Kampung Labuan here at 3pm on Wednesday. There were no injuries or fatalities reported. Advertisement Kota Belud District Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Elgie Bakuk, said the department received an emergency call at 3.06pm and seven personnel were dispatched to the scene with one fire engine and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle. He said upon arrival the firefighters found a semi-permanent house 70 per cent razed. 'The flames spread rapidly, but all 16 residents, including two young children escaped unharmed. But property and some important documents belonging to the residents could not be saved, he said. Elgie the firemen prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses. Tenom: Five victims, including two children, were injured when the Perodua Myvi they were traveling in skidded and fell into a ravine in Tenom Lama road here on Sunday morning. District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 11.14 am and seven members led by Operations Commander, Mc Lean C Madis rushed to the location with machinery. The three female victims aged between 38 and 55 suffered minor injuries. The children wree helped by members of the public before the department team arrived. BEAUFORT: A teacher from SK Padang Berempah, Ag Kujai Wahab, 52, who went missing while searching for his buffaloes on Thursday morning, was found safe on Friday afternoon. District Fire and Rescue Station chief Ishak Jabas said a search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched with the help of police and local villagers. Advertisement The victim was reported missing by his family after he failed to return from the Nabahan Weston area, where he had gone to look for his buffaloes. The fire team travelled by boat from the Weston jetty to Kampung Nabahan and established an incident command post to coordinate the operation. LAHAD DATU: A 75-year-old woman who was reported missing from her house at Felda Sahabat 5, Kampung Desa Kencana on Tuesday, has been found safe. Rosmini Iskandar was discovered about 300 metres from her house by her family members at about 11.40am. District Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Sumsoa Rashid, said his department received a distress call about the incident at 10.28pm Tuesday. 'They informed that a woman went missing about 1pm on Tuesday (May 20) at the plantation,' Sumsoa said. The victim's family and villagers launched search efforts for the victim but failed and contacted the Fire and Rescue Department for help. A team of Fire and Rescue personnel was deployed to the scene. Advertisement 'Upon arrival, the team together with police and victim's family members launched a search for the victim at the location where she was last seen. However, the victim was yet to be found and the operation was temporarily halted at 1.30am and resumed at 6.12am, he said. The SAR resumed on the second day and found the woman safe at 11.40am by family members about 300 metres from their house.
