Djiga, 22, said: 'I want to play a lot of games, and one of my objectives is to make the fans happy. "I hope that when I'm not here, the Rangers supporters will always remember the name of their defender, Nasser Djiga. 'I already knew about Rangers before, they are one of the biggest clubs in Scotland and Europe. 'I'm very happy and proud to join the Rangers team. I believe it will be a good season.' It didn't take long for Djiga to suffer his first blow as a Gers star, as he was forced out of training after he suffered a freak injury during a passing drill yesterday. The 22-year-old had to get bandaged up by club docs. Russell Martin's No 2 Matt Gill expressed disbelief at the incident. Asked how the defender got on in his first session, he told Rangers TV: 'He did great. He's actually the first signing I've ever known to split his head open in a passing drill. 'Nasser's going to be nice and aggressive for us which is good!' The defender was still smiling when he got taped up by medics. New Rangers chiefs Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe's first interview Djiga had already played in Switzerland, France and Serbia, before his big-money switch to Molineux last January. He played only six first-team games for Wolves in the second half of last season, and has now been sent out to gain valuable first-team experience. Djiga added: 'This will be a good decision to come here. Coming for a year on loan is perfect. 'It's difficult for young players when you start your career in Africa. 'But my ambition and passion pushed me to give everything and attain my objective of being a professional footballer. 'I went to Switzerland which was good because it was my first professional contract. 4 Nasser Djiga at Wolverhampton Wanderers Credit: Getty 'I didn't play a lot of games, but it was still a good experience. 'After that, I went to France with Nimes and I played a lot. 'After there, I went to the Serbian league, where I played many games. That was one of the best moments of my life. 'After that, it was England. Everyone knows it's the best league and I'm very happy there.' Djiga follows Lyall Cameron, Max Aarons, Joe Rothwell, Emmanuel Fernandez and Thelo Aasgaard into Ibrox. He said: 'First of all, I'm good on the ball. I'm also very quick and aggressive defensively. 'It's normal for African defenders, a lot of us are aggressive in style.' 4 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Rangers new boy suffers freak injury during passing drill on first day of training

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RUSSELL MARTIN welcomed his new signing Nasser Djiga to training for the first time at St George's Park today after he was announced as Rangers' latest signing on loan from Wolves. It didn't take long for the defender to suffer his first blow as a Rangers player, though, as he was forced out of training after he suffered a freak injury during a passing drill. 1 Nasser Djiga getting bandaged up after his injury The 22-year-old had to get bandaged up by club doctors after he suffered a nasty head knock out of nowhere during the rather calm drill. Martin's No2 Matt Gill expressed his disbelief at the fact the towering defender suffered the injury in such an usual scenario. Asked how the defender got on in his first session, he told Rangers TV: "He did great. He's actually the first signing I've ever known to split his head open in a passing drill. "He's going to be nice and aggressive for us which is good!" Gill continued: "He seems a lovely lad and I've seen some of his stuff at Wolves and his previous club and he's going to be a great addition to the squad and will really help us." It's unclear exactly how the defender suffered the knock but he was all smiles in front of the camera when he got taped up by medics. Rangers returned to pre-season training last month and faced Club Brugge in a 2-2 draw at Ibrox on Sunday. They then travelled down south to the home of English football this week for an intensive training camp ahead of the Champions League showdowns against Panathinaikos later this month. Djiga linked up with his team-mates for the first time, while Thelo Aasgaard, Emmanuel Fernandez, Lyall Cameron, Joe Rothwell and Max Aarons had already been introduced. Djiga became Gers' sixth summer signing after agreeing to head to Glasgow for a season-long loan from Wolves. The Premier League side spent £10million to land him from Red Star Belgrade in January. He's been capped eight times for Burkina Faso. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Nasser Djiga promises rapid Rangers impact as latest Ibrox arrival tells fans 'I want you to always remember me'

The Burkina Faso international has penned a season-long loan deal at Ibrox and he has vowed to be aggressive Nasser Djiga has vowed to impress Rangers fans so much - they'll never forget his Ibrox impact. The 22-year-old defender has joined on a season-long loan from Premier League outfit Wolves. ‌ Djiga becomes gaffer Russell Martin's fifth summer signing after the arrivals of Max Aarons, Joe Rothwell, Emmanuel Fernandez and Thelo Aasgaard. ‌ And even though the 6ft 4ins centre-back plans to return to Wolves next year - he's told supporters they'll always remember him. Djiga revealed he's had positive talks with Martin about his role at Ibrox. And he's promised punters that he has the aggression - and ability - to be a success in Scotland. After joining up with his new Rangers team-mates at their St George's Park training camp yesterday, Djiga told Rangers TV: 'First of all, I want to play a lot of games here and one of my objectives is to make the fans happy. 'I hope that when I'm not here, the Rangers fans will always remember the name of their defender, Nasser Djiga. That's my aim now. 'What type of defender am I? I'm good on the ball. I'm also aggressive defensively and very quick. It's normal for African defenders, a lot of us are aggressive in defence. 'With the ball or without the ball, I'm very focused. That's one of my main qualities. I felt happy when I spoke to the manager here. ‌ 'I knew about him even before I went to the Premier League with Wolves. When we spoke, it was good because he's a good person and I'm really excited to work with him. 'This will be a good decision for me to come here. I already knew about Rangers - they're one of the biggest clubs in Scotland and in Europe. 'I'll try to give everything and play every game. I'm happy and proud to join the Rangers team and I think it will be a good season. ‌ 'Coming for one year on loan is perfect for me, to come and play. I'm very happy.' Djiga was signed by Wolves for £10 million in January from Serbian side Red Star Belgrade, where he played in the Champions League. He made five Premier League appearances last season and one in the FA Cup for Vitor Pereira's team. ‌ Previously, he's had spells at Swiss club Basel and French club Nimes. Djiga says he's learned from all of his experiences in Europe and he's now ready to shine in Glasgow. The defender, who has eight international caps for Burkina Faso, said: 'It's always difficult for young players when you start your career in Africa. 'But my ambition and passion pushed me to give everything and attain my objective of being a professional footballer. It was tough but I was ready for this. Now I'm here at Rangers, I'm so happy and proud. ‌ 'From Burkina, first I went to Switzerland which was good because I was young and it was my first professional contract. I didn't play a lot of games but it was a good experience. 'After that, it was France with Nimes and I played a lot there. It was a different country and different football style. 'But I always try to adapt and give everything. After Nimes, I went to the Serbian league and that was one of the best moments of my life. 'Then it was England. Everyone knows it's the best league and I'm very happy there. But now, I'm excited to start with one of the best teams in Rangers. I can't wait.'
