Man fatally struck by car on SR-67 in Ramona, CHP says
RAMONA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man was fatally hit by a car while standing on State Route 67 in Ramona, authorities said. According to California Highway Patrol, the 40-year-old Ramona man was standing within the northbound lane of SR-67, north of Archie Moore Road, shortly before midnight on Friday, July 18. Around the same time, a woman, 44, from Irvine was driving a 2018 Dodge Challenger in the same area. Driver charged in fatal hit-and-run on Inland Rail Trail For reasons still under investigation, the man was standing in the roadway in low-lighting and the car hit the pedestrian, CHP stated. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The driver of the Dodge was not injured. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash, authorities said. Man arrested after driving 155 MPH on I-4: FHP
The Brief Officials said the man was clocked at 155 MPH in a 60 MPH zone on I-4. Troopers said he had three people in his vehicle at the time of his arrest. SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - A 20-year-old man is in custody after troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said he was going 155 miles per hour in a 60 MPH zone. Officials said the driver, Octavius Hunt, was caught in the early morning hours on Sunday in a Dodge Challenger on I-4 near Altamonte Springs. Troopers said he had three passengers in his vehicle at the time of his arrest. Hunt later told troopers he was only going 80 MPH and was on his way to a friend's house, according to officials. The man also will have his car impounded for 30 days, according troopers.

VIDEO: Driver speeds off with woman on hood of car in Albertson's parking lot
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Bystanders outside of an Albuquerque grocery store were shocked to see a woman on the hood of a car, as the driver sped off. Body cam footage shows officers arrive at the Smith's near Yale and Coal, speaking with witnesses who described what they heard as a white Dodge Challenger sped away. ''Cause when I came out, I heard screaming,' said a witness as they told police what happened on April 29. 'I seen a car back up and we saw her on the hood and then he hauled *** that way.' Police said a white Dodge Challenger, which they believe was being driven by 27-year-old David Cervantes, was seen on the store's security cameras with his girlfriend hanging onto the hood of the car. 'He was flying through that parking lot,' said an officer as he watched the security footage. Albuquerque police say word of mouth is their best recruiting tool The woman told police Cervantes took her purse, so she jumped onto the hood to keep him from leaving. 'I just tried to go and I gave her a chance to get off and she got off and that was it,' said Cervantes. Police said she fell off shortly before Cervantes crashed into another car just down the street from the Smith's. 'I guess he didn't see me coming and smashed into my car,' said Cervantes. Cervantes told police the other driver was on their phone before the crash. When police arrived at the scene, Cervantes was arrested. 'Right now, you are placed under arrest,' said an officer. To which Cervantes responded, 'For what?' Cervantes continued to question why he was being put in handcuffs. 'And then you're going to be going to jail, and then it's up to a judge how long you stay in jail,' said the officer. 'For what I didn't even do anything,' replied Cervantes. He also asked for his wallet, 'Could you go get my wallet from the front seat?' Video shows an officer finding a wad of cash inside the bag Cervantes claims was his wallet. And that's not all they find. 'There's a rifle and a bunch of magazines in the trunk, so we're going to seal the car,' said an officer. Albuquerque Police later found 120,000 fentanyl pills, nearly 29,000 prescription pills, and an AR-style rifle with an altered serial number in the Challenger Cervantes' drove. Also found was more than $49,000 in cash. The woman who fell off the hood of the moving car was admitted to the hospital in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries. Grapevine police search for armed carjacker who stole Dodge Challenger
A man wearing a ski mask ambushed a driver outside a Grapevine donut shop early Saturday, stole a car at gunpoint and fled the scene, police said. The Grapevine Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating the suspect and the stolen vehicle, a 2023 blue Dodge Challenger GT. The armed robbery occurred around 5:30 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of a donut shop on Glade Road. According to police, the suspect approached the victim and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The car has a Texas license plate TVK 8987. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a muscular build. He was wearing dark clothing and a ski mask at the time of the robbery. Based on surveillance video, investigators believe the suspect may be in the Euless or Mid-Cities area. The very last sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro rolled off the production line back in January 2024, and although it was an aging car with some flaws, it was also one of the best to drive in its segment. General Motors hasn't totally discounted the idea of a Camaro comeback at some stage, and GM President Mark Reuss has now given his thoughts on what such a return would require. Speaking with GM Authority, Reuss said that a new Camaro would need to offer a little of everything to appeal to a market base that doesn't value muscle cars as much as it once did. "I think that formula of beauty, and a little bit of functionality and fun, all of that is important," said Reuss. "If we were getting back into Camaro, that piece of it is really important." Camaro May Not Mean What It Once Did Those who groaned reading the above know where comments like those from senior auto executives usually lead: a place where a singular focus on performance cannot live. Reuss reportedly mentioned GM's major rival, Ford, recognizing that the Mustang Mach-E all-electric crossover has often outsold the traditional gas-powered muscle car. The idea of a Camaro SUV has been rumored to be under consideration, and there have been hints that such a thing may also be all-electric, but in the current market, which is more enamored by hybrids than EVs, that may be risky. That said, an electric Camaro would take some time to develop, and when it's ready, the buying public's appetite for an EV may have grown. Reuss has previously indicated that the Camaro nameplate could find itself on a four-door of some description, so a sedan cannot be ruled out entirely, but the smart money says a crossover would be a bigger seller. In its last few years on the market, the Camaro received only mild updates while the Dodge Challenger was getting more and more powerful variants and numerous special editions, and only the Mustang challenged the HEMI recipe. Dodge did this as a glorious farewell to the V8 as it prepared to go all-electric in the segment (a decision that has since been reversed), while Ford chose to introduce the Mustang Mach-E while retaining the regular coupe, introducing a new S650 generation. GM and Stellantis appeared to be under the impression that EV demand would grow at a rapid rate. That's proven to be a miscalculation, and with EV incentives expiring soon, this is unlikely to change. Our best bet? If the Camaro returns someday - and it may well not - it probably won't be a coupe, and it probably will be a hybrid. But if it sticks to Reuss's formula of beauty, function, and fun, that may not be such a bad thing.
