Dogs are not allowed on some Rhode Island beaches starting April 1. Here's where
Dog owners, take note: starting this week, you may have to keep your four-legged friends away from your local beach. State beaches in Rhode Island ban dogs from April 1 through September 30 every year. This includes eight beaches around the Ocean State, though amenities like restrooms don't open until later in May. Town beach rules may vary, but they are usually posted on site. Other privately-owned beaches may have their own rules about pets as well. All the beaches on Block Island allow leashed dogs year-round, according to Visit Rhode Island.
