Doireann Garrihy reveals why she is 'a bit peeved' with Donncha O'Callaghan
Doireann Garrihy has admitted she is 'a bit peeved' with her former breakfast co-host Donncha O'Callaghan at the moment. The presenter co-hosted 2FM Breakfast with the former rugby international as well as Carl Mullan for a number of years before announcing her departure from the station early last year. Following news of her exit, Donncha announced he was leaving the station also with a schedule shake-up keeping Carl on breakfast radio alongside new hosts Roz Purcell and Aisling Bonnar. Pic: Doireann Garrihy/Instagram Since her departure from 2FM, Doireann got married and then returned to the station in her very own drivetime show, 2FM Drive with Doireann Garrihy. The presenter also hosts two podcasts with Carl Mullan appearing on the latest episode of her conversational podcast, Doireann and Friends. During their chat, the pair discussed the friendship they forged on the breakfast show, with Carl admitting he had a 'right cry' to his wife when Doireann announced her exit from the show. Pic: Doireann Garrihy/Instagram 'I was so afraid of us not maintaining that contact with each other,' he admitted, before clarifying that they are still very much in contact. The admission prompted Doireann to scold Donncha for being 'the worst' to keep contact up, as she confessed she does get sad that they don't see the Cork native as much. Carl pointed out that Donncha won't let them know if he's in Dublin 'because he hates Dublin so much.' The comment led Doireann to sharing that she doesn't like letting Donncha know if she's in Cork because she doesn't want to pressure him into meeting her, but is 'peeved' with him because he did the same recently. 'He was at Bloom, which is literally my doorstep,' she said, 'I was like, 'You are!! I would have had you in for tea.' So he knows that I'm a bit peeved at the moment with him.'

Doireann Garrihy fears ‘judgement from people' ahead of arrival of first child
"I just feel so lucky having my first baby, to be doing it with my sister, who I live 10 minutes away from, and there's just a lot to look forward to,' Doireann said. RTÉ 2FM presenter Doireann Garrihy has said she fears she might face judgement from people as a new mum. The Dancing with the Stars host (33) is expecting her first child with husband Mark Mehigan. The couple, who tied the knot at the end of last year, announced they are expecting a baby back in April, as the presenter took to Instagram to reveal the happy news. In the first episode of the third season of her podcast, Doireann and Friends, she was joined by her sister Ailbhe Garrihy, who is also currently pregnant with her third child. Doireann, who said she is 'feeling great' and has 'lots of energy' during her second trimester, shared with her sister that she fears the judgment on social media which comes with being a mum. Doireann, who currently hosts 2FM Drive, said she had a 'couple of experiences' of receiving unsolicited advice on her social media and inappropriate in-person comments. "Someone wrote to me today. I made an iced coffee, and someone replied saying: 'I really hope that's decaf for the baba'. 'Generally, I would ignore, and I just replied and said: 'My doctor told me I can have a coffee a day'. 'When I hadn't announced, I hadn't said it to anyone, there was one person who kept writing to me on Instagram saying: 'I think you have news for your followers. Wink, wink'. I was like: 'Okay, I've been seen in the hospital, and I look pregnant. Who have I said it to that maybe has said to someone somewhere?' 'When I did announce, someone was like: 'Yeah, [I] knew you were pregnant during Dancing with the Stars. Do you know why? A lot of your outfits were very leg-focused. I was like: 'I've been getting my legs out as much as possible [my whole life]'.' Her sister Ailbhe, who is the mother to Séan (4) and Fionn (2), added she thinks pregnancy and parenthood open up 'these flood gates'. "It's almost like people are like: 'Okay, now we can just say whatever we want,' she said. The Garrihy sisters also spoke about the joy of being pregnant at the same time, as there are 'six weeks between them'. "I just feel so lucky having my first baby, to be doing it with my sister, who I live 10 minutes away from, and there's just a lot to look forward to,' Doireann said. 'I feel so unbelievably lucky that it's happening at the same time as you.' They added that sharing their maternity leave would be the first time they had spent more time together since secondary school. 'I hope it'll just be walks and coffee. I hope we do, and I hope we stick to it,' Ailbhe said.

Doireann Garrihy has caused a stir online after sharing behind the scenes of a podcast project that had followers thinking it was in relation to a gender reveal. Pic: Doireann Garrihy/ Instagram Doireann and Mark have refrained from disclosing her due date or whether they are expecting a boy or a girl, with followers thinking a recent social media post from Doireann was a clue. The Dublin native shared some behind the scenes as herself and her mum Clare painted pink wooden boards blue with Doireann later confirming she had four of the boards and was keeping two pink and two blue for her respective podcasts. 'Last year, I got four flats, so four of those and painted each of them blue for the background of Doireann and Friends and I loved how it looked so I used the same flats for The Laughs of Your Life and painted it pink and now, this year I've established, I actually only need two flats for Doireann and Friends and two for The Laughs of Your Life. The pink and blue colours had many thinking it was something to do with a gender reveal for Doireann and Mark's new arrival. One follower messaged Doireann: 'Genuinely thought it was a gender reveal when I saw the blue paint earlier but was also confused why it was being changed pink to blue.' Sharing the message to her Instagram Story, Doireann said: 'The amount of people that thought that this was some sort of gender reveal prep that I was doing… getting my mom to paint these slats — I mean I got my mom to paint these slats anyway, but she offered, very kind of her to help me today because I'm under time pressure. 'But imagine if it was for a gender reveal? I just — I mean, each to their own with gender reveals, of course but… like, no. It was for the podcast.'
