When the teams returned, Chelsea was called for a handball in stoppage time when the ball hit Malo Gusto's hand. 'For 85 minutes we were in control. After the break, the match changed. It's not the same game,' Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca. 'You suspend a game (for two hours), to me that's not football. I struggle to understand it. … We have been here two weeks and they have suspended six or seven games, so something is not working here.' Only a few thousand fans returned for the conclusion. Chelsea entered with a 3-0 record against Benfica and controlled the tempo in the first half with a 5-1 edge in shots on goal. Advertisement But despite possessing the ball more than 60% of the time, the Blues headed to locker room at halftime in a scoreless tie. The match was not well attended. More than half of the lower bowl of 75,000-seat Bank of America Stadium was empty and all but a few hundred seats in the upper deck were remained unclaimed as the event continues to struggle with ticket sales in the United States even as it moved into the knockout round.

'I watch the Club World Cup for free on DAZN'

The Mirror's TV writer Jake Hackney joined DAZN to watch the FIFA Club World Cup for free, but the streaming platform's other features left him impressed The FIFA Club World Cup kicked off earlier this month, so the Mirror's TV writer Jake Hackney set up a free DAZN account to see what all the hype is about. Like many Brits, Jake always linked DAZN with boxing, but as that's never been his sport, he was yet to truly delve into the platform. DAZN is now the sole global broadcaster of all 63 matches in the Club World Cup and is showing every game for free. FIFA has really pulled out all the stops with the competition, giving it a makeover with a new format featuring 32 of the world's top clubs. Manchester City and Chelsea are flying the flag for the Premier League, along with the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami and Boca Juniors. The tournament runs until the final on July 13, and football fans can sign up for a free DAZN account to watch every match. As Jake previously told the Mirror, he found it odd not watching football on the BBC or Sky Sports, but given the quality of content and amount of extras available on DAZN, he believes the streaming platform will become more associated with football in the future. Jake opted for the free account, but there's also the option to upgrade to DAZN's Premium plan from £9.99. This includes every Club World Cup match in HDR picture quality and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, plus highlights, replays, fewer adverts and full access to the rest of the DAZN platform. But even with a free account, there's plenty of football content to keep fans entertained in the gap between the Premier League and EFL seasons. What struck Jake was the sheer volume of content available beyond the live matches, with a plethora of features, shows and compilations readily accessible on the Club World Cup homepage. Interviews with big names such as Harry Kane and Pep Guardiola are featured, along with DAZN's 'Icons' series, which offers an in-depth look at each team and the 12 USA host cities. Since signing up to DAZN, Jake has found himself engrossed in the amount of documentaries focusing on football greats like Cristiano Ronaldo, Maradona and Brazilian Ronaldo. There's a treasure trove of vintage footage showcasing all the goals scored by specific teams at previous FIFA World Cups, featuring legends like Alessandro Del Piero, Raúl and Didier Drogba. In short, there's a feast of content to delve into on DAZN. It's also straightforward to keep up with the latest competition, with every forthcoming fixture displayed on the Club World Cup homepage complete with dates and kick-off times, as well as the option to view the group brackets and tables, making it simple to stay updated with the current standings. One can track their favourite teams in the competition to receive a push notification before their games, with Jake following Chelsea and Man City. DAZN sends him reminders about each of their fixtures, though with some kicking off in the early hours, he'll opt to watch the DAZN highlights instead. For those who aren't keen on adding another subscription to their list, DAZN has sublicensed a selection of matches to Channel 5, meaning 23 games will be shown on both DAZN and Channel 5. This could be a good alternative for football fans who aren't as tech-savvy or don't mind missing out on some games. Of course, there's always the traditional Sky Sports package that costs £35 per month on a 24-month contract, in addition to essential Sky TV. This includes nine dedicated channels, covering the Premier League, Football, Cricket, Golf, F1, Boxing, NFL, NBA, Netball and much more, although the length of the contract might be a drawback for some. DAZN boasts an impressive lineup of pundits for its Club World Cup coverage, including none other than Brazilian legend Ronaldo. Other big names include John Obi Mikel and Sami Khedira, with Conor McNamara, Andros Townsend, Brad Friedel, Rob Green among the commentators, offering a refreshing change from the usual voices on Sky or TNT Sports. Jake has been using DAZN on both his Samsung smart TV and iPhone 13 and it's performed largely well. There have been moments where it's been slightly slow to respond and there's been a bit of lag, but once a live game or documentary has loaded up, he has encountered no major problems.

Benfica bests Bayern Munich in sweltering Group C clincher at FIFA Club World Cup

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Andreas Schjelderup scored in the 13th minute to give Benfica a 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in scorching heat on Tuesday, sending the Portuguese club to the top of Group C in the Club World Cup. We played a great game, especially in the first half,' Benfica's Nedim Bajrami said. 'In the second half, it was obviously more difficult but we knew how to suffer.' Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni was attended by the medical staff in the 25th minute due to heat-related issues and was replaced in the 55th. 3 Harry Kane #9 of FC Bayern Munchen misses a header. FIFA via Getty Images Schjelderup ran onto a cross from Fredrik Aursnes and scored with a right-footed shot from near the penalty spot. Bayern's Joshua Kimmich put the ball in the net in the 61st minute but the goal was disallowed because Harry Kane was in an offside position in the line of sight of goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. 'Opponents play tough,' Bayern Munich's Thomas Müller said. 'In the end when the goalkeeper is the man of the match, then you did not do everything wrong.' 3 Benfica forward Evangelos Pavlidis (14) heads the ball past FC Bayern Munchen defender Dayot Upamecano. Scott Kinser-Imagn Images Bayern lost its first match of the tournament as it struggled to find a rhythm ahead of the knockout stages later this week, despite a late attacking effort including a disallowed goal.

Tuesday's match between Chelsea and ES Tunis will decide which team from Group D joins Flamengo in the Round of 16. Chelsea were the clear favorite to top the group before the tournament, but a surprising loss to the Brazilians on Friday means the Blues will need at least a point from Tuesday's match with ES Tunis to advance. The bookies don't think that will be an issue – Chelsea has -430 odds to win the game – but the stylistic matchup could make this trickier than those odds suggest. Chelsea vs. ES Tunis betting preview 9 p.m. ET, DAZN It's hard to judge how this tournament has gone for Chelsea. This is one of the tougher groups in the field, and the Blues just wrapped up an exhausting campaign in Europe at the end of May. But it's still a bit disappointing to see Chelsea in this position, especially since they haven't been convincing on the field. The Blues grinded LAFC down to dust in a 2-0 win in their opening match, but Flamengo overran Chelsea in the second half en route to a 3-1 victory. Chelsea has scored three goals on 3.35 expected goals in their first two matches, which isn't terrible, but it's also not going to bowl anyone over, considering they were the favorites in both tilts. You'd think that the Blues would have no issue finding their offensive mojo against ES Tunis, the champions of the Tunisian League, but the North Africans have been surprisingly competent in this tournament. ES Tunis players Bechir Ben Said and Khalil Guenichi celebrate their win over LAFC. AP Not only did ES Tunis defeat LAFC on Friday, but they were competitive in a 2-0 loss to Flamengo. An early goal by Flamengo was enough to tilt the scales in their favor, but ES Tunis was still able to keep the match tight, allowing just three clear scoring chances. Defense was the difference against LAFC in a 1-0 win in which they allowed just three shots on target and 1.25 expected goals. Get the lowdown on the Best USA Sports Betting Sites and Apps Chelsea vs. ES Tunis betting preview Make no bones about it: ES Tunis is going to sit deep and dig in for this match. The Tunisians know they need to win the match to keep their tournament going, but their best chance at doing that is putting everybody behind the ball and trying to catch Chelsea on a counterattack or capitalizing on a mistake. It will be up to Chelsea, who haven't really played the lights out in this tournament, to unlock this defense. The Blues will likely get out of here with a win, but it could take quite a while before they hit paydirt.
