Best dressed: Logies Red Carpet host Sonia Kruger rates her favourite Logies fashion looks from over the years
Sonia Kruger has been to so many TV Week Logie Awards ceremonies over the years that she's lost count. 'I've been trying to work out which one was my first, and I am pretty sure I was working on Today Tonight, and I started there in 2000 — I remember I was wearing a red pantsuit,' she says. Fast forward 25 years — and several considerably more glamorous outfits later — and Kruger, who is up for the prestigious Gold Logie again this year, is still knocking it out of the park with her spectacular red carpet choices. 'I like to say, it takes a total of six people to build (me) these days,' she says of her 'glam squad', which includes stylist Natalia De Martin , make-up artist Simone Forte and hair stylist Norman Gonzales 'It would be awesome (to) give them a shoutout, actually, because I don't think they ever really get the recognition they deserve — they're the ones that make me look good.' Sonia's team have been coordinating her looks and designing hair and make-up choices for the Logies for at least a decade, with de Martin meticulously planning the Dancing With The Stars and The Voice host's red carpet look months in advance. 'Once the announcement is made, Natalia gets into planning,' she explains. 'She has this incredible memory for things I have worn, and she likes to make sure that every year (what I wear) is slightly different, and that there's something new and fresh about the dress. This year, Kruger will wear a gown designed by designer Alin Le'Kal, and she has another dress lined up to wear to the event inside. '(Natalia) has had a design concept in mind, and she's working with this on a particular dress, which I personally think is one of the most beautiful (I've worn) — it's by Alin Le'Kal,' Kruger explains. 'It really is so gorgeous.' Despite the fact she's attended dozens of award ceremonies, Kruger still gets excited pre-Logies. 'The getting-ready part is always the best part,' she admits, adding that daughter Maggie, who loves fashion like her Mum, loves watching her mum transform for the event. This year Kruger, who won a Gold Logie in 2023, will once again host the Red Carpet Show with co-host Dr Chris Brown, before heading inside to await the results of her award nominations — with her sister as plus-one. 'I think we have spent more time discussing her outfit for the Logies than mine!' she laughs. 'She and I look very similar, so I think we're going to confuse the cameraman when he cuts to our table, because we're only a year apart and we look exactly the same.' As for her Gold Logie chances this year, on her fourth nomination? 'Well, somebody told me my betting odds were pretty bad,' she says. 'So I'm just looking forward to having a good night. 'Maybe if I win I will send (my sister) up to do an acceptance speech — she'd probably do a better job than me!' We take a stroll down the ruby rug with Logies Red Carpet host Sonia Kruger. Dolce and Gabbana, 2002 'I think I was sucked in by the label. But it was made from jersey, so it was super comfortable. I look like I probably belong on a Real Housewives franchise or as a contestant on MAFS — it's really got that vibe to it. But it was 25 years ago, so I was a bit younger and a bit wilder…' Alex Perry, 2006 'That dress I absolutely loved — it's one my favorite dresses from The Logies. I remember (Alex) being quite reluctant to make it in that green, but I was really insistent. Turns out he was (against it) because it was his old school uniform colour…! He made it for me, and it fitted like a glove.' J'Aton, 2007 'That one won me 'Best Dressed' on the night. It was made from amazing Swarovski chrystal fabric, and it's still one of my favourite dresses ever. I would wear this dress again if I had the chance. Again, it was super comfortable, and just really, really stunning — and the detail was incredible.' Alex Perry, 2008 'That one was made from this really beautiful matte velvet. It wasn't quite as tight as Alex likes his dresses to be, and he was kind of annoyed about it, but I felt really comfortable in it, which was great. And I loved how sophisticated it was.' Alex Perry, 2009 'Alex is a dear, dear friend of mine…and I remember saying to him, 'I just want something simple and comfortable and easy to get around in…and he made me this! It was ruffles, and it was the kind of thing that Maggie would have loved, aged five. I made a lot of Finding Nemo jokes about it. It was a LOT.' J'Aton, 2010 'This one was really soft, and this beautiful olive green colour. I loved that dress, because it was so different from everything else I had worn. We were doing a lot of structured gowns with Dancing With The Stars at the time, and I loved that it was soft, and had Grecian kind of vibes; very mute and natural.' Hervé Léger, 2016 'I had just had Maggie, and I was going through a 'stretchy dress' phase after having her. I loved this one because it was so fun, but it was also super comfortable to wear. If you're comfortable in what you are wearing, you feel good, and you just have a much better time.' Balmain, 2017 'We went for an international designer this particular year. I can't remember exactly why, I think because it had a little bit of stretch in it? It had this drapey sort of cape thing going on, which was very new at the time. And… was it pants?' Albina Dyla, 2022 'I remember Fashion Critical asked how many Fraggles had to die for this dress, which was hilarious. The funny thing is that the feathers look so soft and beautiful, but it was like wearing a bed of needles, because at the end of every feather is a quill, and they were really pointy!' Stephen Kalil& Sean Rentero (event dress), 2023 'This was an unusual dress for me to wear, because it was really pretty and soft and flowy — I generally tend to go for things that are a bit more edgy or structured. But it was such a beautiful colour, and it looked lovely against the red carpet and it was such a contrast to the dress I changed into for the ceremony, which was this rainbow glow mesh.' FatimaK Designs, 2024 'That was very long, and I did end up wearing a different dress inside, which was this beautiful rose gold, one-shoulder dress, which was comfortable to sit down in. I went to Vegas-like holiday resort in Europe with glamorous concierges, adventure parks & island's biggest pool complex
SLOT machines flash and jingle as I soak up the atmosphere at the City of Dreams Mediterranean in Cyprus. This vast five-star resort features a super-casino, restaurants, bars entertainment and 500 hotel rooms — and is the first of its kind in Europe allowing guests to roll the dice after a dip in one of its many pools. If my two nights at the resort, near Limassol, were any indication, they are well on their way. Stepping inside, I was struck by the obvious luxury — guests are welcomed into a grand marble lobby lined with designer shops. Within seconds a glamorous concierge appears with a hot towel for your hands as a bellboy collects your bags. Decorated in pine tones, my room felt like my very own Nordic spa with a massive tub, separate shower room, and a huge bed with pillows I melted into. The showstopper was the view from the balcony looking across the resort — the largest pool complex in Cyprus and a mecca for families and big kids like me. As well as the sparkling multiple pools surrounded by palm trees for shade, water slides and rapids there's a dedicated adventure park that will keep even the fussiest child happy. The resort's Kids' City is open every day from 10am to 8pm with supervised activities for four to 12-year-olds and by night there are movie and theatre evenings with free popcorn. All the free activities Cyprus has to offer For those seeking a different type of thrill there is of course the casino. While Mum and Dad enjoy a flutter, a gaming room offers snooker and retro arcade favourites like Pac-Man and table hockey. Large sofas face wall-mounted TVs with gaming consoles on hand to keep the teenagers busy. A short drive away from the hotel are sandy beaches and the vibrant city of Limassol with its regenerated marina and lavish yachts bobbing in the waters. Advertisement Arming myself with a coffee from Paul bakery, I walked along a boulevard of chic cafes and restaurants you would see on any posh British high street — Jamie Oliver's, a Wagamama, and multiple Greek tavernas. From there it's an easy stroll into the old town along cobbled streets that lead to Kolossi Castle. In the Middle Ages, Cyprus was a target for Crusader campaigns to the Holy Land, and this 15th-century fortress is filled with treasures from the time. Exhibits of ancient pottery, oil lamps and coins from Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman eras are on display in the great hall. I found myself marvelling at tombstones bearing intricate carvings of Crusader knights and ancient symbols. Advertisement In the belly of the castle is an even older underground chapel which is dark, windowless and quiet. It was here that King Richard I (Richard the Lionheart) married Berengaria of Navarre. I felt time stop for a moment, and could picture the bride and groom standing next to the very stones of the ancient altar in this peaceful underground grotto. Stunning frescoes Amazingly you can taste the oldest wine in the world that was served at King Richard's wedding, called Commandaria, on a visit to the village of Agios Konstantinos. The excursion can be arranged at the City of Dreams Mediterranean hotel's front desk. Another must-do trip is to the charming village of Omodos, in the heart of the Troodos Mountains. Advertisement Renowned for its traditional stone houses, Omodos is a picturesque spot and at its centre lies Timios Stavros Monastery, which dates back to the early 1800s. The preserved Byzantine church is filled with wood carvings and stunning frescoes. After a day spent exploring Cyprus's history, or enjoying the adrenalin rush of the casino, the City of Dreams Mediterranean's cave-like spa is the perfect spot to rest weary feet. This was my favourite place and I could feel my muscles immediately relax in the sauna, before booking myself in for a massage. Advertisement With entertainment and relaxation options nailed down at the hotel, I couldn't wait for dinner at one of the four restaurants. As well as a buffet, there are three speciality restaurants serving French, Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. 3 Try your luck on the resort's banks of slot machines Credit: Supplied The Amber Dragon, sibling of a two-star Michelin venue in Macau, serves up sushi and sashimi, dim sum and stir-fried classics as well as the best BBQ roasted duck I'd ever tasted. A chef prepared shreds of the mouthwatering bird in front of us as little baskets of pancakes and dishes of greens were laid out — I was in food heaven. Advertisement Next up were the divine Shanghai dumplings that melted into a little soup, while dessert was a golden dumpling treat that resembled an ice-cream Scotch egg. Afterwards I headed to the casino's roulette table. I was hoping it was my lucky night! Noel Gallagher's daughter Anais sums up Manchester Oasis gig with one word
Oasis legends Noel and Liam Gallagher finally reunited on stage last night, performing together for the first time in 16 years in their hometown - and Noel's daughter watched on proudly The Gallagher brothers and Oasis fans had a night to remember as the band reunited in their hometown, 16 years after their split. The monumental evening saw Liam and Noel Gallagher perform before nearly 80,000 devoted fans alongside bandmates Bonehead, Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Joey Waronker. Fireworks lit up the sky as fans sang along passionately, with several celebrities also in attendance. Among the crowd were many of the band's loved ones, including Noel's daughter Anais. The 25-year-old model and photographer has been openly excited about the tour, regularly updating her social media followers. Anais, who has previously modelled for Dolce and Gabbana, attended the tour's first show in Cardiff last week at the Principality Stadium. On Instagram, she expressed her joy at being back, donning an Oasis T-shirt and raising a drink in celebration. Continuing to follow her father on his tour, Anais was amazed by the Manchester crowds last night. She shared a stunning video of the electrifying night on her Instagram story, showcasing the spectacular fireworks display behind the stage. Anais summed up the show in one word: "Magic". She added: "Manchester, you are magic." In another snippet from the night, the proud daughter captured Noel passionately playing an electric guitar. "My dad's the coolest," she declared. Anais has made a sweet cameo on the tracks as well, with a youthful voice chiming in "that's rock and roll baby". Anais, who is currently dating It's A Sin heartthrob Callum Scott Howells, giggled in confirmation that those were indeed her words spoken at seven. She's also expected to be in attendance at tonight's gig at Heaton Park. Just last night, Noel paid an emotional homage to The Royle Family's Caroline Aherne during his performance. Before launching into 'Half the World Away', Noel took to the mic, stating solemnly: "This one is for Caroline." When are Oasis next performing? After tonight's shop, the band is due for a brief respite until they hit the stage in Manchester once more starting Wednesday, July 16, and then again on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20. With July nearing its end and August on the horizon, Oasis is set to grace Wembley Stadium, London, for a string of shows. They'll light up the venue on July 25 and 26, heat things up further on July 30, and carry the torch through August 2 and 3. Afterwards, Oasis will take their tunes north, heading to Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh for a trio of performances before setting off across the pond to the US.
