'Early days' to judge Wolves' transfer activity

There has been a fair amount of talk on social media about Wolves' transfer window, with some fans already feeling anxious about a lack of action. It is early days though, and I think there are some positives as well as plenty of time left for the club to make the right departures of key players are a worry. Replacing talent and leadership will not be easy, and it is vital the club gets these decisions right. While I would prefer most signings to be completed in time for Vitor Pereira to work with them in pre-season, it is more important to focus on making the right additions rather than rushing into risky in-house changes have caught my attention too. With the arrival of technical director Domenico Teti, perhaps Pereira will take on more responsibility for transfers, working more like a traditional manager than the modern head coach. The involvement of Jorge Mendes' agency Gestifute and Valdir Cardoso could also be key. This all suggests the club is setting up for a significant summer in the transfer far, Fer Lopez is the only signing. He seems a great prospect with impressive stats, though he lacks top-level experience. The good news is he will get a full pre-season with Pereira and chance to settle stand out as a need. Hugo Bueno impressed on loan at Feyenoord and will probably claim a starting spot, but Wolves need more depth and strong competition on both flanks. Nelson Semedo's contract situation adds another question mark, and a replacement for him may be front, more changes seem likely. Both Goncalo Guedes and Hwang Hee-chan could move on, opening doors for fresh attacking options. Pereira wants players with pace and the ability to win one on ones, so new arrivals should fit this the club's financial year restarting on Tuesday, 1 July, I expect transfer activity to ramp up. There is a lot of work ahead, but I am hopeful we will soon see some thoughtful, well-planned more from Dazzling Dave at Always Wolves, external

Wolves appoint Domenico Teti to new-look leadership team

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the appointment of former Sampdoria and Al Shabab director Domenico Teti as part of a new-look Molineux leadership team. Teti, who worked with Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira in Saudi Arabia, has joined the club following the departure of former sporting director Matt Hobbs earlier this month. Advertisement But the Italian is not seen as a direct replacement for Hobbs and will work alongside Pereira on organisational matters at Molineux. Former Wigan defender Matt Jackson has been handed a promotion to a new role of director of player recruitment and development while communications director Max Fitzgerald is also named in a new-look management team with a brief to improve internal and external communications. The group is completed by performance director Phil Hayward and long-serving director of football operations & administration Matt Wild. The group will also answer to chairman Jeff Shi. Shi said: 'I'm pleased to welcome Domenico to Wolves as part of our football leadership team. His international background and experience at senior levels will bring fresh insight to the club and strengthen the structure supporting head coach Vitor Pereira and the first-team environment. 'Alongside Matt, Phil, Matt and Max, who have been a key part of the progress we have made recently, this leadership group provides clear expertise across all operational areas, ensuring alignment and strong collaboration throughout the football department.' Teti said: 'I am truly excited to join the Wolverhampton Wanderers family and to feel the passion of its fans, who embody the soul and spirit of this historic club. It is an honour to be part of something so special. 'I look forward to working with Jeff, Vitor, and the rest of the staff and players, contributing to the development of a passionate, forward-thinking, and proactive football culture.' As with seemingly every summer at Wolves, all eyes will be on recruitment. With Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri already having left Molineux and captain Nelson Semedo still expected to follow despite the offer of a new contract, Wolves will need to get their signings right to give Pereira the chance to replicate results in the second half of last season. Advertisement That will involve selling some players — Fabio Silva and Goncalo Guedes are among a list of obvious candidates — and using the money to strengthen in areas Pereira has prioritised. That will occupy the minds of Teti, who is expected to be Pereira's right-hand man in off-field matters, and Jackson, with his expanded brief, for the immediate future. But Shi also believes football operations can run more smoothly by enlisting the input of more people. For example, there is a feeling that the embarrassment over Wolves' Women potentially being denied promotion last season when Wolves failed to apply for Championship status — the team ultimately fell short of the top spot they needed anyway to get promoted — could have been avoided with better communication within the club. That is another areas where the new group will come into play. ()
