Tequila Don Julio Unveils a Sensory Tasting Experience at Mercer Labs
Every sip of Tequila Don Julio tells a story — the story of Don Julio González and his dedicated approach to perfecting the spirit, while also championing his Mexican heritage. The luxury tequila brand invited audiences to experience that story for themselves at Por Amor: An Immersive Tasting Experience at Mercer Labs. González's journey began at his first tequila distillery in La Primavera — and now, that legacy comes to life in a high-tech, multisensory takeover. Set within the museum's art-meets-technology space, the experience transports guests to the nutrient-rich clay soils and warm climate of the Jaliscan highlands, where the story of Tequila Don Julio first took root. 1 of 5 2 of 5 3 of 5 4 of 5 5 of 5 The sensory installation ran from June 12-15. While some parts of the activation revealed the spirit's origin story, other rooms invited visitors to guided tastings of Tequila Don Julio Reposado, Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino Anejo, and Tequila Don Julio 1942. While guests savored the layered flavors of Tequila Don Julio and it's award-winning 100% Blue Weber Agave tequila, they were also immersed in the scent of roasted agave and rich oak—hallmarks of the brand's signature character—set against the vibrant rhythms and energy of Mexico. Reflecting the brand's blend of passion and artistry, the experience invited attendees to tap into their own creativity by crafting custom artisanal cocktails. 'Mercer Labs is a home to the world's most forward-thinking creators, and this collaboration with Tequila Don Julio represents a perfect union of creative vision,' said Roy Nachum, Co-founder and Creative Director of Mercer Labs. 'We're proud to host the brand's first immersive takeover and give guests the opportunity to experience tequila in a way that's never been done before.'

Rajnath Singh meets Chinese counterpart, stresses on avoiding new complexities in ties
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has conveyed to his Chinese counterpart Admiral Don Jun that India and China should maintain the positive momentum in the bilateral ties and avoid adding new complexities. Singh held 'constructive' talks with Don on the sidelines of a conclave of defence ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in this Chinese port city on Thursday evening. The Indian defence minister's visit to China came amid efforts by both New Delhi and Beijing to reset their ties following an understanding last October to end the military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. 'Held talks with Admiral Don Jun, the Defence Minister of China, on the sidelines of the SCO Defence Ministers' Meeting in Qingdao. We had a constructive and forward-looking exchange of views on issues about bilateral relations,' Singh said in a social media post on Friday. 'Expressed my happiness on the restarting of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra after a gap of nearly six years,' he said. 'It is incumbent on both sides to maintain this positive momentum and avoid adding new complexities in the bilateral relationship,' he added. Singh also presented Don a Madhubani painting called 'Tree of Life' that symbolised wisdom and vitality, officials said. Madhubani art painting has its origin in the Mithila region of Bihar. This painting is a symbol of wisdom and vitality. According to a Chinese readout, Singh said in the meeting with Don that India does not seek conflict or confrontation with China, and is willing to properly handle differences, enhance communication and promote mutual trust for the steady development of bilateral relations. Singh's visit to Qingdao coincided with the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra in Tibet. It is taking place after a gap of nearly five years. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra was suspended initially in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequently because of the military standoff between the two sides on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake in China's Tibet Autonomous Region holds religious significance to Hindus as well as Jains and Buddhists. The military standoff in eastern Ladakh began in May 2020, and a deadly clash at the Galwan Valley in June that year resulted in a severe downturn in ties between the two neighbours. The face-off effectively ended following completion of the disengagement process from the last two friction points of Demchok and Depsang under an agreement finalised on October 21 last year. In December last, NSA Doval visited Beijing and held talks with Wang under the framework of Special Representatives (SR) dialogue on the boundary dispute. The decision to revive the SR mechanism and other such dialogue formats was taken at a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan on October 23, 2024. The Modi-Xi meeting came two days after India and China firmed up a disengagement pact for Depsang and Demchok. Doval visited China this week as well to attend a conclave of top security officials of the SCO.

Trump Embraces ‘Daddy' Nickname
Donald Trump loves to give nicknames. To himself (Honest Don, A Very Stable Genius, The King). To others (Crooked Hillary, Sleepy Joe, Gavin Newscum). Now he seems happy to take one: 'Daddy.' The White House on Wednesday night posted a video showing the U.S. President attending the NATO summit this week to the soundtrack of R&B singer Usher's 2010 song 'Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home).' The post was in apparent reference to NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte appearing to call Trump 'daddy' on Wednesday when asked about Trump's expletive-laced rebuke of Israel and Iran after the two countries risked upending a fragile ceasefire he helped broker on Monday. 'We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the f-ck they're doing,' Trump said as he left the White House for The Hague on Tuesday morning. 'Daddy has to sometimes use strong language,' Rutte said, sitting beside Trump at the summit. Rutte earlier lauded Trump, according to text messages Trump posted to his Truth Social platform, for authorizing strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran over the weekend. When asked Wednesday about Rutte calling him 'daddy,' Trump said. 'He likes me. If he doesn't, I'll let you know, I'll come back, and I'll hit him hard.' 'He did it very affectionately, 'Daddy, you're my daddy,'' Trump imitated. Rutte tried to clarify later that he did not mean to call Trump 'daddy' but rather to liken Trump's relationship to Europe to that of a father figure. 'What I said is that sometimes, in Europe, I hear sometimes countries saying, 'Hey, Mark, will the U.S. stay with us?' And I said that sounds a little bit like a small child asking his daddy, 'hey, are you still staying with the family?'' It's not the first time Trump's been called daddy, and he seems to like it. In a 2023 interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, golfer John Daly said he and fellow golfers 'want Daddy Trump back.' Trump posted about the reference on his Truth Social platform at the time and again a few months later. Daly has said he's called Trump 'daddy' since the two met in 1992. Carlson also once compared Trump to a father figure at an October 2024 rally when he likened some of the American public to a 'hormone-addled 15-year-old daughter' who's been allowed to 'slam the door and give you the finger.''There has to be a point at which Dad comes home,' Carlson said. 'And when Dad gets home, you know what he says? 'You've been a bad girl. You've been a bad little girl, and you're getting a vigorous spanking right now.''
