Rachel Zegler Goes 'Gentle Parenting' on Fans in Heated Situation Involving Bodyguard: 'Queen Energy'
is receiving praise for coming to her bodyguard's defense after things escalated with fans. The actress was forced to intervene at the stage door for the "Evita" production in London when an autograph signing session went wrong. However, rather than get heated, Zegler handled it with grace. The 24-year-old actress was outside signing autographs when a fan took issue with her personal security. A TikTok clip captured the intense moment. Although it didn't show what caused the disagreement, Zegler wasted no time stepping in, calling the attention of the distraught fan. "Hi, Hi, Hi. I love you so much," the "West Side Story" star said apologetically. Standing up for her bodyguard, she said, "But Danny is just doing his job. He is protecting me." However, the fan fired back, saying it was "too much, no need to shove." Zegler, however, didn't back down with her request, politely defending Danny. "He works here and he's helping me, because crowds are very intimidating," she explained. When the autograph seeker pushed back again, the actress killed it with kindness, replying, "I know, babe, and I love you so much, but please don't disrespect my Danny, okay?" Zegler's graceful response earned cheers from the crowd. Clearly moved, she gave a playful side-eye before returning to signing autographs. The cheers from fans continued online as many were in awe of how Zegler expertly handled the tense situation. "Grace under pressure. Rachel showed real class stepping in calmly and standing by her team," one fan praised. "Rachel Zegler showing that queen energy and standing up for her to see it," a similar comment read. "I love how she's gentle parenting the disrespectful people because low-key people need to act better around celebs," a third fan penned. Others noticed Zegler's affectionate way of referring to her bodyguard, sparking theories. One comment read, "That protective love for her 'Danny' is so touching. Rachel truly cares about those around her." Another fan observed, "That is sweet of her. And he is gorgeous." The New Jersey native has been starring in the award-winning Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, which opened on June 18 at the Palladium. In it, Zegler plays the role of former First Lady of Argentina, Eva Perón, and gives a tear-jerking rendition of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina." However, in a little twist for the London revival, Zegler steps out onto the balcony at the Palladium when she belts out the musical number for all in the street of Central London to see. Per THR, the Stage-to-Street stunt has got tongues wagging positively about the revived West End production, giving the "Y2K" actress all the praise. The applause for "Evita" is a far cry from the heavy backlash Zegler received for the poor box office performance of the live adaptation of "Snow White." The highly anticipated movie bombed heavily, grossing $205 million on a production budget of $240–270 million. Many pointed accusing fingers at Zegler, blaming her vocal political support for Palestine for the poor reception. It was also reported that her co-star, Gal Gadot, who portrays the Evil Queen, received death threats due to her "Free Palestine" remarks. Jonah Platt, the son of producer Marc Platt, was among the vocal critics, slamming Zegler on social media for being immature. "Free speech does not mean you're allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions," he wrote underneath an Instagram post. Platt continued, "Tens of thousands of people worked on that film, and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of the colleagues and crew and blue-collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful." Following Platt's harsh remark, singer Lily Allen and British television presenter Miquita Oliver came to Zegler's defense on their "Miss Me?" podcast. As The Blast reported, the co-hosts shut down the criticism, calling out the producer's son for being hypocritical since he is outspoken about his beliefs. Interestingly, he assumes her political beliefs have no place anywhere and that she is narcissistic to even have them," Oliver shared. "[But] if you go on his page, he is very political, pro-Israel, and his political beliefs are all over the output he puts in the world." Allen then defended Zegler's activism, saying, "Isn't it that the protagonist usually has some sort of struggle where they have to stand up in adversity? So [Platt] can go f-ck himself, basically."

Multiple theater fans ‘fall ill' waiting in heat to watch Rachel Zegler perform ‘Evita' balcony scene amid backlash: report
Multiple theater fans received medical help after they 'fell ill' while standing in sweltering temperatures to see Rachel Zegler perform from an outdoor balcony during the hit West End production of 'Evita.' Over 200 excited fans waited outside the London Palladium for hours in nearly 90-degree heat on Thursday to see Zegler, known for starring in Disney's live-action flop 'Snow White,' sing 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' for free as part of the musical, according to The Sun. But not everyone made it to the show's most famous number, which served as the Act II opener. 5 Rachel Zegler performed 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' from the balcony of the London Palladium.'We were called at 8:16 p.m. (sic) yesterday to reports of a person unwell in Argyll Street, central London,' a London Ambulance Service told the outlet. Two ambulance crews responded to the theater, where Zegler made her West End debut in the Jamie Lloyd's production just days earlier. 'While treating the patient, our crews were called to help a second person who was unwell nearby,' the spokesperson added. 'One patient was taken to [the] hospital and the second was given medical advice and discharged at the scene.' Zegler reshared a series of Instagram posts from paid ticketholders who praised her performance on Thursday night — but has not publicly commented about the fans who got sick while waiting to see her sing outside. 'Crowd control is bad enough on the public street but with the heat it's becoming really dangerous,' a source told the outlet. The Post has reached out to the Zelger's team for comment. 5 Hundreds waited outside the venue to see Zegler perform the most popular song in 'Evita' on Thursday. Invision The scare is just the latest controversy attached to the production. At the start of Act II, Zegler, playing Eva Perón, the former First Lady of Argentina, walks out on the balcony overlooking the street outside the venue and sings 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' to unpaid audiences outside the theater while ticketholders inside watch via live stream. The uncommon creative decision angered fans who paid hundreds of dollars to see Zegler in the show directed by Lloyd, who is known for his unconventional staging in shows like Broadway's 2023 revival of 'A Doll's House' and 2024 revival of 'Sunset Boulevard.' 5 The West End revival of 'Evita' opens July 1. Brett D. Cove / 5 The musical will have a 12-week limited engagement in London. Invision One fan called the livestream decision 'a bit of a rip off' to ticket holders inside. 'If I paid for a theater ticket, I wouldn't be so thrilled that I couldn't see all of the performance in person,' one person commented on X. But some theater fans promote the decision to have her sing on the balcony. 'The show is about Eva Peron giving power to the people,' a social media user on TikTok wrote. 'Singing this song on the balcony to the people who can't afford tickets makes so much sense.' The musical debuted on Broadway in 1979 with book and lyrics by Tim Rice and music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. London's revival of the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical officially opens July 1 and is scheduled for a 12-week limited engagement.
