A man from Jena and another from Boyce were killed Tuesday morning in separate crashes in LaSalle and Rapides parishes, according to Louisiana State Police. Neither man wore a seat belt, according to a news release. Highway 127 near Coon Tank Battery Road. The initial report states William Graham, 86, was driving a 2002 Infiniti when he lost control and ran off the road, according to a news release. The car then hit a telephone pole and a tree, it reads. Graham died at the scene. Almost two hours later, just before 7 a.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on La. Highway 121 near Bob Stark Road. Shellie Slocum, 52, was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima southbound on La. 127 when he crossed the center line and hit a 2021 Nissan Rogue, reads the release. Slocum died at the scene, it reads. The Rogue driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. Both crashes remain under investigation. Alexandria armed robbery backfires when store clerk fires gun; teen later arrested

A 15-year-old faces three charges after he allegedly tried to rob a business Tuesday night but ended up fleeing because the store clerk fired a gun, according to police. The Alexandria Police Department issued a news release Tuesday night that said its officers had responded to the 200 block of Bolton Avenue because of an attempted armed robbery. No one was injured, and the department asked for the public's help in identifying the person who tried to rob the store. The public responded, and the teen was arrested shortly after the attempted robbery, reads another news release. The teen was arrested on charges of armed robbery, simple burglary and being a juvenile in possession of a handgun.
