Chiefs Request Extension on Deadline to Decide if Team Will Relocate
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. On the heels of the Cincinnati Bengals agreeing to terms on a new deal that will keep the team in place for the next 10 seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs are going in the opposite direction. Read more: Bengals and Cincinnati Agree to Massive Deal to Keep Team From Relocating The Chiefs have until June 30 to decide if the team will remain in Missouri or officially relocate to Kansas. However, Missouri legislators were officially blindsided by the organization's officially requesting an extension on the deadline. Chiefs president Mark Donovan requested the deadline extension, stating: "We believe the foundation is in place for something truly historic — not only for our team but for the future of the state's economy and national profile," Donovan wrote. MoreWhat makes this extension that much more important is that it indicates that the Chiefs are seriously weighing the idea of relocating the team to another state. Donovan sent in the formal deadling extension via a letter. According to the Kansas City Star, "The letter comes just two weeks after Missouri lawmakers approved a sweeping stadiums funding plan in the hopes of preventing the Chiefs and Royals from leaving for Kansas. The Missouri proposal would allow the state to pay for up to 50% of new stadiums for the teams." Many of the legislators also felt the deal that was reached by Missouri for a reported $1.5 billion in renovations was enough to keep the Chiefs in Jackson County. Apparently, things are not that simple. "Well, that's a shot in the gut," Missouri Rep. Chris Brown, a Kansas City Republican who handled the Missouri proposal in the House, said after learning of the letter. "I didn't see that coming. I thought the Chiefs were fairly secure staying right where they're at." Read more: Chiefs Stadium Renovations Shut Down by Local Taxpayers The entire ordeal began in April 2024 when an initial tax proposal was proposed to the taxpayers of Jackson County that would provide the renovations needed for Arrowhead Stadium and a new ballpark for the Kansas City Royals. However, taxpayers rejected that proposal, leading to a new plan having to be thought of. The news that the Chiefs could potentially relocate immediately reached the neighboring state of Kansas, as Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed legislation that guaranteed the Chiefs would receive what they would need to build a brand-new domed stadium. Read more:Chiefs' Threats to Move Team Gain Leverage As Stadium Renovations Await Having a domed stadium would mean the Chiefs would also be able to host the Super Bowl, which brings in some already lucrative opportunities. A year later, Missouri lawmakers were busy putting together the plan to keep the Chiefs in place despite the initial tax proposal being rejected. With Missouri finalizing that plan, the Chiefs taking some time to think things over could mean the organization might actually relocate. Missouri losing the Chiefs would be disastrous, as would it be incredible for Kansas to actually land a championship football team. Time will tell what happens, but the Chiefs are getting a little more time to think about what is best for the organization. For more on the Chiefs, head to Newsweek Sports.

A new general for Chiefs: ‘Gerrard-like' signing arrives in SA
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly welcomed English-based creative midfielder Ethan Chislett to Naturena. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder was born in Durban but spent most of his life in England. His father, Donovan, had a career in the Premier Soccer League in the 70s and 80s. According to FARPost , Chislett landed at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday and was greeted by Amakhosi staff. This week, it was reported that he had signed a two-year deal with the option to extend with the Soweto giants. Chislett is regarded as a talented player, capable of playing as a number 10, number 8, or as a wide midfielder, similar to former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard. The 26-year-old spent the last two years with English club Port Vale where he made 68 appearances and scored 13 goals. His move to Chiefs comes at the right time where the club is seeking a creative player. His father, Donovan, told FARPost that his son was eyeing the potential of playing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 'Now with the 2026 [FIFA] World Cup coming up and the potential opportunities in South Africa, it seems like almost the perfect time,' he said. 'I'm looking for a fresh opportunity. I think my heart and mind are aligned, and they're set to South Africa, if possible,' Chislett said. Kaizer Chiefs will travel to the Netherlands next month to play several high-profile friendlies. Although the club has not announced any new players, five players have departed. QuSecure Names Gregory Donovan Vice President of Revenue as Demand for its Post-Quantum Cryptography and Cryptographic Agility Solutions Grows
SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--QuSecure™, Inc., a leader in post-quantum cryptography (PQC) cryptographic agility, today announced it has named Gregory Donovan, a prominent revenue executive in the cybersecurity industry, as its new Vice President of Revenue. This is a strategic and necessary move for the company as it sees rising interest in both private and public sector cybersecurity teams starting their needed PQC migrations to gain quantum protection for critical data anywhere it travels. QuSecure names Gregory Donovan as its new Vice President of Revenue as demand for its post-quantum cryptography and cryptographic agility solutions grows. Share 'I was impressed with the leadership and approach that QuSecure has taken to solve what could be a trillion-dollar problem in the market,' Donovan said. 'I chose QuSecure for that very reason – how it can provide PQC and cryptographic agility now and how I see our innovation evolving to solve current cybersecurity issues while preparing for larger quantum threats.' Late last year the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) directed security leaders to begin adopting new standards for addressing the quantum threat immediately. In recent White House Executive Orders, it has been made clear that it is a priority for the U.S. government to resolve cryptographic debt as the quantum threat approaches and bad actors harvest sensitive data now to stockpile for later decryption. For high-risk use cases, the requirement for meeting these standards was pulled in by 5 years compared to previous guidance – with additional advancement expected in this timeline. Technology vendors involved with National Security Systems are required to support post-quantum cryptography by 2027. Donovan brings years of enterprise and global sales experience to QuSecure. Most recently, he was with Keyfactor, a leading PKI cybersecurity company focused on the Fortune 500; and prior to that he served as Chief Growth Officer at Cognition, where he led go-to-market strategies and activities for an industrial automation/AI company. Donovan has also held key roles with ScentAir, ADP and SAP/Fieldglass. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University and resides in Charleston, SC. 'I'm excited about the rapid growth that Gregory will help QuSecure capitalize on,' said Rebecca Krauthamer, co-founder and CEO of QuSecure. 'As we see the adoption curve accelerating, his deep experience leading and scaling high-performing sales teams and delivering impressive revenue results come at a critical time for our growth. He has a solid track record of building proven sales strategies that span multiple industries that matter deeply to us, including cybersecurity and AI, and across private and public sectors. We will rely on his extensive experience and deep industry connections as we work to exceed our aggressive goals for 2025 and beyond.' QuSecure ensures that sensitive data remains secure even as quantum computing and AI advance. It provides software-only security architecture that overlays onto a customer's pre-existing infrastructure, simplifying the migration to modern cryptographic standards without performance impact. Its flagship product, QuProtect, is the industry's first cryptographic-agility platform that elegantly facilitates the upgrade to PQC and managed cryptographic visibility and orchestration, and QuSecure is proud to have the most crypto-agility deployments of any organization globally. QuSecure's diverse roster of customers includes the United States Army and Air Force, key players in the telecommunications and energy sectors, leading financial institutions, and global cloud services providers. About QuSecure QuSecure is a leader in quantum-safe cybersecurity with a mission to use the advent of quantum computing to act as a catalyst to fix the foundation of data security infrastructure. The QuProtect platform can be purchased through the AWS Marketplace or direct outreach to QuSecure, Accenture, Dell, Cisco, or Carahsoft. QuSecure's quantum-resilient and crypto-agile solutions provide the lowest friction transition path to inventory your cryptographic communications and transition to quantum-resiliency anytime, anywhere, on any device, and across any organization. Cardinals' Brendan Donovan Falls in Latest NL All-Star Balloting
Cardinals' Brendan Donovan Falls in Latest NL All-Star Balloting originally appeared on Athlon Sports. St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Brendan Donovan fell to fifth place on the NL all-star ballot for second basemen in the latest phase one voting update. Advertisement Previously, in the first update on June 16, Donovan stood in fourth place – around 18,000 behind the Chicago Cubs' Nico Hoerner, and around 6,000 ahead of the New York Mets' Jeff McNeil. Since then, Hoerner has moved to third place with over 636K. McNeil has also jumped Donovan by a big margin with 550K to Donovan's 525K. To move to phase two of voting, a player must be one of the top two vote receivers for their position. Donovan now sits over half a million votes behind second place – held by his former Cardinals teammate, Tommy Edman. St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Brendan DonovanGregory Fisher-Imagn Images Donovan has had a fantastic season, batting .308 with a .806 OPS and 2.1 bWAR. Though Edman has played well, his average and OPS sit behind Donovan at .248 and .736. In 10 less games than Donovan, he has six more homers and 11 more RBI. Advertisement The reigning-champion Los Angeles Dodgers have taken over the ballots, with one of their players housing a top two spot in each position. Other Cardinals cracking the top 10 of their positions include Willson Contreras, Nolan Arenado, Masyn Winn, and Ivan Herrera. All of them face large deficits with Donovan being the Cardinals most voted player. Donovan can still be expected to make the National League roster as a reserve, with players and the Commissioner's Office getting their say on the selections as well. Fans have until June 26 to vote on their favorite players before phase one closes. Phase two will open on June 30 at 11 a.m. central. Bulls, Billy Donovan working on contract extension
The post Bulls, Billy Donovan working on contract extension appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Chicago Bulls are currently reportedly in the works on a possible contract extension with head coach Billy Donovan, as per NBA insider Marc Stein. Donovan has been the Bulls' head coach since the 2020-21 season, and the front office is clearly a strong believer of his coaching acumen that they appear to be ready to commit to him for the foreseeable future despite less-than-stellar results over the past few seasons. Advertisement Donovan has only coached the Bulls once into the playoffs, back in the 2021-22 season. That was a memorable year for Bulls fans, as that was the first season of the Lonzo Ball-DeMar DeRozan-Zach LaVine-Nikola Vucevic core. They sat in the top half of the Eastern Conference for a good chunk of that season, only to fall off after Ball suffered a serious injury that would keep him out for over two years. As a result, the Bulls fell off in 2022, entered the playoffs as the sixth-seed with 46 wins, and then proceeded to get knocked out by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs. Since then, Donovan's team has failed to make it to the playoffs, falling short in the play-in tournament for each of the past three seasons. Nonetheless, the Bulls front office clearly trusts Donovan to be the man to take them back to playoff contention. For what it's worth, Donovan has done as well of a job as anyone considering the roster the team has given him. They also hit their stride towards the end of the 2024-25 season, and Donovan seems to thrive more when coaching a young team on the rise. Moving forward, the Bulls will be looking for huge developments from the likes of Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, and Coby White, and they will look to supplement this young core further with the 12th overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft. Bulls believe in Billy Donovan Jonathan Hui-Imagn Images The Bulls front office is very much a huge believer in Donovan. This contract extension possibility comes in the aftermath of their decision to reject the New York Knicks' attempt to get the two-time National Championship-winning coach to interview for their vacant head coaching job. Advertisement Donovan's best season as a coach came during the 2019-20 season, when he placed third in the Coach of the Year voting. He helped steer an Oklahoma City Thunder team that many thought were destined for the bottom of the standings into the playoffs, and it's clear that his best attribute as a coach is taking teams that are a bit undertalented to places far greater than many believed they could reach.
