Raymond James Upgrades DoorDash (DASH) Stock, Lifts PT
DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ:DASH) is one of the 10 Unstoppable Stocks to Buy According to Hedge Funds. On June 23, Raymond James analyst Josh Beck upgraded DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ:DASH)'s stock to 'Strong Buy' from 'Outperform' with a price target of $260, an increase from $215. This upgrade comes on the heels of an underappreciated valuation amidst consideration of the Deliveroo acquisition. The firm's analyst expects the acquisition to result in a mid-teens increase in DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ: DASH)'s EBITDA by 2026 and high teens by 2027. Furthermore, the synergies, together with elevated investment in advertising, operational performance, and future benefits coming from autonomous technology, can fuel the company's stock. A shot of a delivery driver zooming down a busy street, symbolizing the company's quick and efficient delivery services. Apart from this, DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ:DASH) has made an acquisition of NYC-based software company, Seven Rooms, and ad platform, Symbiosys. DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ:DASH) expects that both SevenRooms and Deliveroo can expand its ability to build world-class services, thereby, increasing its potential to grow local commerce and help with financial goals. In Q1 2025, its total orders saw an increase of 18% YoY to 732 million, and marketplace GOV rose 20% YoY to $23.1 billion. The YoY growth in total orders was due to growth in consumers and average consumer engagement. For Q2 2025, DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ:DASH) expects marketplace GOV of between $23,3 billion – $23.7 billion, and adjusted EBITDA of $600 million – $650 million. Sands Capital, an investment management company, released its Q1 2025 investor letter. Here is what the fund said: 'DoorDash, Inc. (NASDAQ:DASH) is the leading food delivery platform in the United States by market share. The business exceeded investor expectations in its most recently reported quarter, demonstrating continued strong execution. Orders grew 19 percent year-over-year, supported by 14 percent growth in monthly active users, while adjusted EBITDA rose 56 percent. First-quarter 2025 guidance was better than consensus expected, calling for 20 percent gross order volume growth. Our investment case continues to play out, and we continue to believe that consensus underestimates DoorDash's longer-term earnings power.' While we acknowledge the potential of DASH to grow, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk. White House releases video featuring workers in ‘big, beautiful bill' pressure campaign
The White House on Friday released a video with testimonials from workers about the benefits of President Trump's 'big, beautiful bill,' as it seeks to ramp up pressure on Republicans ahead of planned Senate votes this weekend. In a video first shared with The Hill, eight people who attended Trump's event at the White House on Thursday talked about the impact they think the bill will have on their lives. The two-minute video included testimony from a rancher, fireman, Door Dash driver, pilot and border patrol agent, among others, hailing from states including Wisconsin, Missouri and Illinois. The Abraham family, whose daughter Katie was killed in January in a hit-and-run crash, were featured in the video. The man accused of killing her and another student was a migrant from Guatemala and was caught on a bus in Texas leaving for Mexico. 'It's great to see that he is strengthening the border, he is putting some rational processes in, versus what's been going on the last four or five years, which is the wild west,' Katie's father, Joe Abraham, said. 'Katie would be with us here today if we had this type of strength of the border.' Others touted the tax proposals in the legislation and other provisions. 'The reason I support the one 'big, beautiful bill' is because of the tax provisions,' said Kevin Kester, a California rancher. 'The one 'big, beautiful bill' provides funding to ensure a modernized, safe and efficient air traffic control system here in the United States of America,' said Capt. Miles Morgan, the managing director for flight training for United Airlines. Earlier in the day, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) told Senate Republicans to expect to see the legislative text of the budget reconciliation package Friday evening and then to vote at noon Saturday to begin debate on the bill. Trump has called on Republicans to pass the legislation by July 4 and earlier this week threatened to yank next week's recess if the legislation is not on his desk by the self-imposed deadline. 'The Great Republicans in the U.S. Senate are working all weekend to finish our 'ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL,'' he said on Truth Social. 'The House of Representatives must be ready to send it to my desk before July 4th — We can get it done.' Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was on Capitol Hill on Friday to discuss a tentative deal between the White House and House Republicans from New York, New Jersey and California to raise the cap on state and local tax (SALT) deductions from $10,000 to $40,000 for a period of five years. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters that he was in the Oval Office with Thune on Thursday evening to work through the bill with the president.

Sole survivors in Lake Tahoe boating disaster had one thing in common
A joyous family celebration turned into a harrowing tragedy over the weekend when a boat capsized during a sudden storm on Lake Tahoe, leaving eight people dead and two others hospitalized. The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the group had gathered for a 71st birthday celebration for Paula Bozinovich. The department identified the deceased as Bozinovich, 71, and her husband, Terry Pickles, 73, both of Redwood City, California; their son, Joshua Antony Pickles, 37, a San Francisco resident and DoorDash executive; and Peter Bayes, 72, of Lincoln, California, a close family relative. Also killed were four family friends: Timothy O'Leary, 71, of Auburn, California; Theresa Giullari, 66, and James Guck, 69, both of Honeoye, New York; and Stephen Lindsay, 63, of Springwater, New York. "These individuals were part of a closely connected family group enjoying a birthday gathering on the lake," the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said in a June 24 statement. "We extend our deepest heartfelt condolences to the families of those who were lost and all those who have been affected by this tragic event." The party had set out in a 27-foot gold Chris-Craft powerboat near D.L. Bliss State Park on Saturday, June 21, the department said. Initially greeted by clear skies and calm waters, the group's outing took a deadly turn when a powerful storm swept across the lake. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, winds reached 30 knots with swells as high as eight feet. The boat capsized just before 3 p.m., tossing all ten occupants into the frigid waters of Lake Tahoe. Two unidentified individuals survived the accident. Both were wearing life jackets when they were rescued and transported to a local hospital, the department said. "The most common mistake boaters make is not being aware of the forecasted weather," BM1 Justin Smith, executive petty officer of Coast Guard Station Lake Tahoe, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "Life jackets being worn continue to be the primary survivability factor." Emergency response teams from multiple jurisdictions, including North Tahoe Fire, California State Parks, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, and the United States Coast Guard, mounted a massive search-and-rescue operation. In the wake of the tragedy, officials reiterated the importance of weather awareness, life jacket use and float plans. "Weather in the Tahoe Basin can be unpredictable and change quickly," warned Smith. "Mariners should be hesitant to operate in conditions where wind advisories or small craft advisories have been issued." Six bodies were recovered on the day of the incident. The remaining two were found in the days that followed, with the final recovery made on Monday afternoon. "The success of the search and recovery operations would not have been nearly as efficient without the assistance of our partner agencies," the sheriff's office said. The recovery operations also required advanced divers and specialized teams such as the Wilderness Finder Search Dog Teams, the department said. In a statement to Fox News Digital, DoorDash mourned the loss of Joshua Pickles, calling him "a cherished colleague and beloved friend whose energy and compassion will be deeply missed." "No words can express the pain and anguish we feel knowing their lives were lost during what was meant to be a joyful time on the lake," Josh Pickles' wife, Jordan Sugar-Carlsgaard, said in the statement Tuesday to the Associated Press. "Our hearts go out to those who tragically lost their lives and the two survivors of this unexpected and deadly storm on Lake Tahoe." Josh Pickles' wife had stayed at home taking care of their seven-month-old daughter, Sam Singer, a family spokesperson, told the outlet. The couple, who married in 2023, both worked at tech companies in San Francisco. Josh worked at DoorDash, and Jordan at Airbnb, Singer said.

For gig workers, cash flow is king — and instant pay delivers
Gig work apps like Uber and DoorDash offer their drivers instant pay options for quick cash deposits. A recent survey shows that speedy deposits are not merely a matter of convenience; they're key to drivers' financial stability. Everee, a payroll provider for gig work platforms, found in a survey released Thursday that 59% of drivers working on platforms like Uber, DoorDash, Shipt, Veho, and others rely on gig work for at least half of their income. And, despite gig work's reputation as a side hustle, that income isn't just spare pocket change; it's essential for drivers looking to pay rent or shop for groceries. The nationwide survey, conducted in May, compiled responses from 419 gig work drivers. Nearly 7 in 10 of the drivers surveyed work across two or more gig apps each month. "Really, they're driving for their livelihoods," Dana Gagnon, the CMO at Everee, told Business Insider. "They're not driving for trips and luxuries in life. They're really driving to make ends meet." A spokesperson for DoorDash told Business Insider that their internal statistics showed similar trends. Forty-eight percent of drivers for DoorDash pointed to getting paid quickly as one of the top reasons they choose to drive for the app, with about seven in 10 "Dashers" expecting to use their dashing income within the week, the spokesperson said. About one in four DoorDash drivers expect to use their pay within days, per the DoorDash spokesperson. Representatives for other gig driving apps, including Uber and Instacart, did not respond to requests for comment from Business Insider. Wyatt Taylor, a 19-year-old DoorDash driver, told Business Insider he relies on the app's partnership with Crimson to get his pay delivered directly to a personal banking account immediately, free of charge, after every trip he makes for the app. "If you need to make something happen, like if you're needing to fill up your gas tank, then you're not having to wait till Monday," Taylor said. "You can just do a DoorDash, and then after you're done, you can just go and take your car to the gas station." And that quick turnaround is increasingly important to drivers trying to maintain a longer financial runway, Everee found. The Everee survey found, in general, 65% of respondents had taken a payday loan or cash advance because payouts lagged, and 61% delayed paying a bill or making an essential purchase while waiting for their earnings to hit their account. Stephanie Riggs, a 54-year-old driver who uses the catering delivery app, Dlivrd, told BI that, while she generally prefers to stack her payments for weekly cashouts, part of the reason she prefers to make gig driving her full-time job is the freedom in both working hours and payment options — so "if I was ever in a situation where there was an emergency, those funds are available and flexible." Faster pay is gaining traction across industries The demand for flexible payment options is expanding beyond traditional gig work, as well. Business Insider previously reported Gen Z is bringing a gig work mentality to corporate America, and some corporations are taking notice of the preference for more customizable ways to access their paycheck. Tate Hackert, cofounder and Chief Strategy Officer of ZayZoon, a software company that provides employees with access to their earned wages before payday, told BI that many franchised McDonald's locations use his company's software, as well as brick-and-mortar businesses like coffee shops and home healthcare services. He added that 55% of the company's customers are 34 years of age or younger, with women making up more of ZayZoon's users than men. Hackert said he believes the generational slant is driven partially by younger workers' desire for better control of their finances — a preference they picked up from gig work — but, overall, he said, "it's a cash flow issue." "It's not always an income issue, although, of course, more income can always be better," Hackert said. Workers may have enough overall income in a month to cover all their expenses on paper, but may not have enough in their account to cover each bill at the time the balance comes due, making flexible paydays preferable, depending on each employee's needs. Gig drivers with access to more flexible payment options also report better satisfaction with the apps they drive for, Everee found. Their survey found drivers who get paid instantly reported 13 percentage points higher satisfaction than workers on weekly cycles. Hackert said ZayZoon has found the same, adding that the gratification of instant pay is a strong incentive for workers to pursue gigs like delivery driving rather than traditional jobs — especially for those who already have a full-time role. "So if you're an employer, your competition isn't just the brick-and-mortar employer across the street, it's actually the gig economy," Hackert said.
