This is the second live-action movie for Dora the Explorer, an animated kids' show that aired on Nickelodeon from 2000 to 2019. The series, which aimed to help English-speaking children learn Spanish, centered on Dora Márquez and her trusty companion Boots the monkey, as they traveled the world with Backpack and tried to prevent Swiper the fox from, well, swiping. The first live-action movie, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, released in theaters in 2019, and starred Isabela Moner in the eponymous role. This new movie is being billed as a 'standalone' sequel to the 2019 film, however, it features an all new cast. Samantha Lorraine takes over in the role of Dora, replacing Moner. Also starring Jacob Rodriguez, Daniella Pineda, and Gabriel Iglesias, Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado is skipping theaters and headed to straight to streaming.
