English Soccer Manager Suspended For Sexist Remark

An English soccer team confirmed the six-game suspension of its manager this weekend after he made sexist remarks on a podcast in January. 'Following (intended fun) comments made on a podcast regarding women drivers, First Team Manager Marc White has received a six-game touchline suspension to be served from the beginning of the league season,' a Sunday social media post by Dorking Wanderers FC reads. Advertisement Marc White, the manager of the Dorking Wanderers, made the sexist remark on the 'Under The Cosh' podcast in January when he responded to a question about his disciplinary record. 'More women refs now, so you have to pay a bit more respect, do you know what I mean?' White, who is also the founder and owner of the Dorking Wanderers, said in the podcast episode, which can be viewed on YouTube. 'You have to pay a bit more respect, like help them park.' Podcast host Chris Brown can be seen laughing with White at his remark. The English Football Association issued White's suspension in May, writing that he 'acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words during an interview with 'Under the Cosh' contrary to FA Rule E3.1.' Advertisement FA Rule E3.1 states that participants can't use 'violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behavior.' White was fined 500 pounds (about $685) and has to attend 'a mandatory education session,' according to The Athletic. White joked on the podcast episode about being banned from 12 stadiums for his behavior last year, calling it a 'fantastic record.' In 2023, White received a four-game suspension after the FA said he 'directed personal abusive and insulting words' at match officials, as well as his assistant. According to the report, White apologized.

English football manager Marc White given six-game ban for sexist comment about women drivers

An English football manager has been given a six-game touchline ban for making sexist comments about women drivers. Marc White — the manager of Dorking Wanderers, who play in the sixth tier of English football — made the remarks to the Under the Cosh podcast in January as he prepared to take charge of his 1,000th game at the club. Advertisement In response to a question about his disciplinary record, White said: 'More women refs now, so you have to pay a bit more respect, do you know what I mean? 'You have to pay a bit more respect, like help them park.' The English Football Association (FA) had charged White with behaving in an 'improper manner' and using 'abusive and/or insulting words' when charging White in May. Dorking, based in Surrey, south of London, and a member of National League South, posted a message on X on Sunday confirming the suspension. Following (intended fun) comments made on a podcast regarding women drivers, First Team Manager Marc White has received a six-game touchline suspension to be served from the beginning of the league season. — Dorking Wanderers FC (@DorkingWDRS) June 29, 2025 The FA's original charge stated: 'It is alleged that prior to a National League South fixture between Dorking Wanderers and Weston Super Mare on Saturday 18th January 2025, you acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words during an interview with 'Under the Cosh' contrary to FA Rule E3.1. 'It is further alleged that this breach of FA Rule E3.1 is an 'Aggravated Breach', as defined in FA Rule E3.2, as it includes a reference, whether express or implied to gender.' Dorking finished sixth in the National League South in 2024-25, reaching the playoffs but losing in the quarter-finals to Boreham Wood who eventually gained promotion to the National League. White has cultivated a controversial reputation during his time in charge of Dorking, regularly attracting sanctions from the football authorities. In the same interview with Under the Cosh he said he had been banned from 12 stadiums due to his behaviour. In 2023, in a separate interview on the same podcast, he criticised what he saw as over-zealous policing of managers' behaviour by the FA. Advertisement He said: 'The FA are transitioning from traffic wardens to a Gestapo or something. Everything's about suspensions, bans and fines. 'I think if you're going to do it, be a mascot. Because everyone's scared of the f***ers, aren't they? 'People told me for the last game: 'Marc go and sit in the corner dressed as the Dorking cockerel, no one will go near you.'

Non-league manager is slapped with six-game ban after joking female referees 'need help parking' in controversial comment on a podcast

Dorking Wanderers manager Marc White has received a six-game touchline ban for a sexist comment made on a podcast. When discussing his disciplinary record on the Under The Cosh podcast, White said: 'More women refs now, so you have to pay a bit more respect, do you know what I mean? 'You have to pay a bit more respect, like help them park.' In May White, who also owns Dorking, was charged by the FA with using insulting or abusive words. The FA stated that White's comments were an aggravated breach of the rules because of the reference made to gender. Dorking confirmed that White will not be in the dugout for their first six games of the National League South season. A statement from Dorking read: "Following (intended fun) comments made on a podcast regarding women drivers, first team manager Marc White has received a six-game touchline suspension to be served from the beginning of the league season.' White made the comments prior to Dorking's 3-1 loss against Weston-super-Mare last season. In 1999 White founded Dorking with friends as an amateur team and initially played for the club. The 51-year-old has helped Dorking to secure 12 promotions in 23 years. White has overseen more than 1,000 matches in charge of Dorking. His side were beaten by Boreham Wood last season in the National League South play-of final.

Non-league boss slapped with SIX-GAME touchline ban after saying women officials ‘need help parking'

DORKING WANDERERS chairman and manager Marc White has been hit with a six-game touchline ban after comments he made about female officials in football. White, 51, has been no stranger to controversy in the years he has been in charge of Dorking - a club he founded himself back in 1999. A statement released on X by Dorking confirmed that White will be absent from the touchline for six games starting at the beginning of the upcoming campaign. The National League South outfit wrote: "Following (intended fun) comments made on a podcast regarding women drivers, First Team Manager Marc White has received a six-game touchline suspension to be served from the beginning of the league season." It has not been confirmed exactly what comments have led to White's ban, but a video has since emerged on social media of him discussing female officials and drivers. In a clip of him talking about a "12-stadium ban" during the most recent campaign, White said: "This year, I've gone easy, mate. "Obviously, more women refs now, so you have to pay a bit more respect. Do you know what I mean? "You have to pay a bit more respect, like help them park. Do you know what I mean?" White led Dorking to a sixth place finish in the National League South last season, ultimately losing to Boreham Wood in the play-off quarter-finals. The businessman, former player and manager founded Dorking with a group of friends in 1999, going on to play for the club and manage over 1,000 games. Dorking achieved 12 promotions in their first 23 seasons, reaching the National League in 2022 before being relegated two years later. White has come under criticism during the club's rise for his foul-mouthed interviews and touchline behaviour. He has received a number of touchline bans and was charged by the FA for acting "in an improper and/or threatening manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards match officials" in 2023. Speaking on the Undr the Cosh podcast in the past, White lashed out at the severity of punishments handed out by the FA. As per The Athletic, he said: "The FA are transitioning from traffic wardens to a Gestapo or something. Everything's about suspensions, bans and fines." White has also been outspoken against the need for FA coaching badges for managers, claiming that they are unneccasary. White, who holds no FA coaching badges, said: "I ain't got f*** all. "I got told, and I think this is true, I got told that to be in the EFL you have to have a badge to be a manager. "People keep saying, 'Marc, do you know if you get promoted you'll have to get a badge' "I will start a nationwide campaign to tell the EFL to get to f*** if I'm getting a badge".
