Buc-ee's Is Eyeing This City For First Southwest Florida Location

Southwest Florida may be getting a new place to pick up some favorite $5 or less snacks. Buc-ee's, the South's best travel stop, is reportedly eyeing a new location in the Sunshine State. While the beloved Beaver Nugget-and-jerky peddlers (and gas station) have just announced an opening date for a Gulf Coast outpost, they are continuing to spread across the South. Gulfshore Business reports that Buc-ee's may be looking into opening a spot near Port Charlotte, Florida, on Interstate 75 between Sarasota and Fort Myers. The giant travel center would be the fourth Buc-ee's location in Florida, as there are currently spots in Daytona Beach and Saint Augustine and a still-under-construction spot in Ocala, scheduled to possibly open by the end of the year. Travelers may love Buc-ee's for its many, many gas pumps, clean bathrooms, and incredible snack options, but local residents may not be big fans. According to the Houston Chronicle, when news broke that Buc-ee's was looking into the new Florida location some folks were not exactly rolling out the welcome mat. "Please don't do this to our community ... It will be a disaster," one resident told WINK-TV, a Fort Myers news outlet. Kolache fans headed to Florida's Gulf Coast shouldn't get too excited yet, though. The Chronicle makes it clear that while the community board has made some zoning changes and approvals to accommodate Buc-ee's if they choose to open in the area, the Lone Star state's favorite gas station hasn't made the new location official. Going to have to pick up your Dr Pepper Icees and bacon grease elsewhere for now. Read the original article on Southern Living

Buc-ee's Is Breaking Ground Soon On A New Location In This Southern City

They say everything's bigger in Texas, but the new Buc-ee's coming to Arkansas might put that to the test. The Texas-based chain of super-sized gas stations/convenience stores/ kolache peddlers has announced that they are breaking ground on the new Benton, Arkansas, location on February 19. As we previously reported, the Texas-based brand's expansion into Benton was first announced in September of last year. Although, as local news outlet KARK reports, Buc-ee's initially kicked off some kolache-fueled dreams back in 2023 "when a proposed land purchase on a 29-acre track from the city at a cost of $77,586.21 an acre for an anticipated travel center began fueling the speculation." Now, they are getting to work to build what will be tied for the largest location ever built. That translates to over 100 gas pumps and a 75,000-square foot store filled with Beaver Nuggets, Dr Pepper Icees, every kind of jerky, and all the hot biscuits and pickles you can imagine. This outpost of the oversized travel center, a.k.a. The South's Best Travel Stop, will be perfectly located for folks traveling through the Natural State, as it's smack in the middle and less than 30 miles from Little Rock at the northwest corner of Interstate 30 and Highway 229. While Benton's Buc-ee's is going to be big, tied with the Buc-ee's outpost in Luling, Texas, for the country's largest, the one expected to open in Ocala, Florida is going to be even larger. That one, opening some time this year, is supposed to be a whopping 80,000-square feet. Buc-ee's loves to constantly break its own records for the world's largest convenience store, and it's unlikely any one location will wear this crown for long.
