Dubai, United Arab Emirates: In a bold step to propel global medical research and healthcare innovation, Thumbay Group—through its academic flagship Gulf Medical University (GMU)—has launched the Second Cycle of the Thumbay International Research Grant 2025/26. In the next two years, we hope to increase the Grant amount to AED 10 Million.' The event took place at the university's Library main foyer and was attended by dignitaries, faculty members, industry partners, and students. The ceremony was graced by Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, as the chief guest, and presided over by Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group. This cutting-edge facility is designed to support and enhance existing AI programmes at GMU, providing a dynamic learning and research hub for students, faculty, and healthcare professionals. It offers access to advanced tools and technologies that enable learners to explore real-world AI applications across diagnostics, healthcare operations, medical decision-making, and patient care. The lab is a key infrastructure addition under the Thumbay College of Management and AI in healthcare and complements a suite of academic programmes, including master in AI and health informatics, certificate course in AI in Healthcare and certificate course in Generative AI in healthcare. Speaking at the occasion, Dr Thumbay Moideen stated: 'This lab reflects our commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into every aspect of medical education and healthcare delivery. It will serve as a catalyst for innovation, supporting students and researchers as they develop solutions that shape the future of healthcare.'
