Google Drive could soon help you decode documents faster (APK teardown)
Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR Google Drive on Android is working on introducing Gemini-based PDF summary capabilities, similar to those found on Drive on the web. Users will soon be able to access PDF summaries directly within the PDF viewer via a three-dot menu or header icon. The app is also working on multi-file and limited folder summarization features that allow content across various Docs and PDFs to be summarized simultaneously. Google Drive has received many Gemini-related features over the past months. However, many of these features first come to Google Drive on the Web before making their way over to the Android app. We've now spotted that Google Drive on Android could soon serve PDF summaries through the PDF viewer. Further, the ability to summarize files through the file viewer window will also support selecting multiple files to summarize them together. Authority Insights story on Android Authority. An APK teardown helps predict features that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted features may not make it to a public release. Google Drive on the Web already serves automatic PDF summaries. Now, Google Drive v2.25.250 for Android includes code for PDF summarization through Gemini. We managed to activate the feature ahead of its release to give you an early look: In the near future, users will likely be able to summarize PDFs that are either stored in their Google Drive or received through Google Drive. For this, they won't need to exit the PDF viewer and ask Gemini within Drive to summarize the file — instead, they will be able to trigger Gemini from within the PDF viewer. Users will be able to click on the three-dot icon on the top right and choose the Summarize this file option. They can also tap the Gemini icon in the header and type in their request to summarize the PDF. Note that this feature is unlikely to work with offline PDFs that you are opening through Google Drive's PDF viewer, so don't try summarizing downloaded files. Your best bet would be to keep the PDF files on Drive to get a summary. Unfortunately, these PDF summaries are not automatically displayed yet, as they are on the web. However, this won't be a big deal, as you will be able to manually initiate a summary for any PDF you need summarized. We've previously spotted Google Drive also working on allowing users to summarize any folder from the file viewer window. We then spotted the app working on letting users summarize individual PDF and Doc files too. In addition to all of this, the file summarization feature will also make it easier for users to summarize multiple files and folders. Selecting multiple files will be very easy, as users will likely be able to select multiple PDFs and Docs by long-pressing them. We managed to activate the feature ahead of its release for an early look: Users will also be able to select a folder along with the files, but they may be restricted to selecting only one folder. We couldn't get the process to work when multiple folders were selected, as you can see in the last screenshot above, where the Gemini icon no longer stays highlighted. Thankfully, there seems to be no limit to how many PDFs and Docs you can select, which should easily serve most needs. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ . After AI, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sees ‘multitrillion-dollar' opportunity in this tech sector. Details here
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has said other than artificial intelligence, robotics can turn out to be the chipmaker's biggest market for growth. The 62-year-old CEO also claimed that self-driving cars would be the first major commercial application for the technology. 'We have many growth opportunities across our company, with AI and robotics the two largest, representing a multitrillion-dollar growth opportunity,' Huang said on Wednesday at Nvidia's annual shareholders meeting, in response to a question from an attendee. A little over a year ago, Nvidia changed the way it reported its business units by grouping its automotive and robotics divisions into the same line item, CNBC reported. In May, Nvidia said automotive and robotics had $567 million in quarterly sales, which was about 1 per cent of the company's total revenue. That particular business unit was up 72 per cent on an annual basis. Nvidia's sales have been surging over the past three years due to heightened demand for the company's data centre graphics processing units, or GPUs, which are used to build and operate sophisticated AI applications such as OpenAI's ChatGPT. Total sales have soared from about $27 billion in its fiscal 2023 to $130.5 billion last year, and analysts are expecting nearly $200 billion in sales this year, according to the news agency. While robotics remains relatively small for Nvidia at the moment, Huang said applications will require the company's data centre AI chips to train the software as well as other chips installed in self-driving cars and robots, the news agency said. Huang highlighted Nvidia's Drive platform of chips, and software for self-driving cars, which Mercedes-Benz is using. He also said the company recently released AI models for humanoid robots called Cosmos. 'We're working towards a day where there will be billions of robots, hundreds of millions of autonomous vehicles, and hundreds of thousands of robotic factories that can be powered by Nvidia technology,' Huang said. Nvidia is increasingly offering more complementary technology alongside its AI chips, including software, a cloud service and networking chips to tie AI accelerators together. Huang said that Nvidia's brand is evolving with time, and that it's better described as an 'AI infrastructure' or 'computing platform' provider. 'We stopped thinking of ourselves as a chip company long ago,' Huang said.

Tarun Mansukhani Reveals Why He Took A Break After Dostana: 'My Divorce Changed...'
Last Updated: Tarun Mansukhani opens up about taking a break from films after Dostana, revealing his divorce was "expensive" and left him unable to focus on directing. Tarun Mansukhani made a memorable Bollywood debut with Dostana in 2008—a vibrant, genre-bending hit that starred Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, and Priyanka Chopra. With its success at the box office and pop culture impact, expectations were high for his next directorial venture. But instead of riding the wave, Tarun stepped away from the spotlight, vanishing from the director's chair for over a decade. It wasn't until 2019 that he returned to helm Drive, a Netflix release starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez. The gap between his first and second films raised eyebrows—but now, Tarun is speaking candidly about what kept him away from filmmaking. In a recent interview with Just Too Filmy, the director revealed that the hiatus was due to a deeply personal and financially draining chapter in his life: a difficult divorce. 'A lot happened in life," Tarun shared. 'I went through a divorce. It wasn't a pleasant one. It was an expensive one for me, and life just took its own turns. I was not in a bandwidth or headspace to make a film." Tarun explained that he didn't want to approach his work from a place of desperation. 'I knew I was in debt, and I needed to sort that out. I didn't want to make a film just because I needed the money. The moment I do that, I know everything I do will be tainted by that. I'd be making a film out of fear. I wouldn't be fun to work with on set either. So, what's the point?" Instead, he focused on rebuilding. 'I did everything else I could to pay off that debt. Once I had cleared everything, only then did I start developing a new film." Tarun was previously married to Karuna, and the couple parted ways in 2014 after nine years of marriage. Now back in action, Mansukhani's latest directorial effort, Housefull 5, has hit theatres and is showing decent traction at the box office. In just 10 days, the comedy has raked in ₹154.25 crore. However, with a reported budget of ₹225 crore, the film still has ground to cover before it can be officially declared a hit. First Published: June 16, 2025, 18:55 IST

Driver Licencing Wait Times Shortest Yet
Minister of Transport The Government's work to deliver better public services for New Zealanders is paying dividends for people working to gain their driver licence, Transport Minister Chris Bishop says. 'National average wait times are now just four days for a full licence test and seven days for a restricted licence test, down from a peak of up to 90 days in some regions,' Mr Bishop says. 'At one point in 2024, we saw wait times get as high as 90 days in some regions, with a backlog of over 80,000 people applying to sit their licence tests at one point. 'These unacceptable wait times were the result of the previous government's decision to remove re-sit fees for theory and practical tests in 2023. This led to people not preparing properly for their tests, no shows, and people failing. These people simply went back in line to re-sit their test again and again. 'The Government took decisive action to reduce wait times. We introduced a limit of one free re-sit for Class 1 driver licence tests, removed free re-sits for overseas licence conversions, and temporarily extended the amount of time people can drive on their overseas licence from 12 months to 18 months. 'NZTA and VTNZ have also recruited and trained more than 70 new Driver Testing Officers, introduced new temporary testing sites, and extended testing site hours in some regions. Text alerts were also introduced to remind people of their driving test and ensure they turn up on the day. 'Wait times are continuing to be monitored closely, and if they increase at individual testing sites NZTA will work with testing agents to bring them down. 'We have delivered on our promise to bring wait times down, creating a more efficient licensing system that contributes to road safety. 'I also encourage anyone preparing for their test to check out the free resources available on the Drive website. Developed by NZTA and ACC, Drive is an official resource designed to help learner drivers and those teaching others how to drive. 'A driver licence can unlock many opportunities for a person and improve access to employment. We want to make sure we're removing barriers and keeping people safe on our roads.'

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang now eyes this tech sector after AI: ‘We're working towards a day where…'
After artificial intelligence (AI), Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has set his sights on the next growth opportunity: robotics. Huang revealed at Nvidia's annual shareholders meeting that he sees robotics, particularly self-driving cars, as the chipmaker's largest potential market beyond AI, representing a 'multitrillion-dollar growth opportunity.' Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'We have many growth opportunities across our company, with AI and robotics the two largest,' Huang stated, as per CNBC. Huang believes that the widespread adoption of robotics will necessitate Nvidia's powerful data center AI chips for training the sophisticated software, as well as specialised chips to be installed directly in self-driving vehicles and robots. Huang on how robotics will be the next step after AI Huang highlighted Nvidia's Drive platform for autonomous cars, already in use by companies like Mercedes-Benz, and the recently released Cosmos AI models for humanoid robots. 'We're working towards a day where there will be billions of robots, hundreds of millions of autonomous vehicles, and hundreds of thousands of robotic factories that can be powered by Nvidia technology,' Huang said. Huang sees Nvidia beyond a chip company: An AI infrastructure provider Huang also elaborated on Nvidia's evolving identity, emphasising that the company has long moved beyond being merely a "chip company." 'We stopped thinking of ourselves as a chip company long ago,' Huang said. He described Nvidia as an "AI infrastructure" or "computing platform" provider, increasingly offering complementary technologies such as software, cloud services, and networking chips to integrate AI accelerators. This outlook comes as Nvidia's financial performance continues to soar, primarily driven by the demand for its data center GPUs, crucial for building and operating advanced AI applications like OpenAI's ChatGPT. The company's stock reached a new record high on Wednesday, propelling Nvidia's market capitalisation to roughly $3.75 trillion, briefly positioning it as the world's most valuable company ahead of Microsoft.
