This world-first wellness space is landing in Sydney this month
Sydney has no shortage of incredible places to work out, from a stunning, Dubai-inspired gym in the city's west to free-to-use spaces overlooking the ocean. But if you want to find everything in one place – a gym, recovery zone, physio centre, co-working space and health food café – you're in for more of a challenge. Enter: Virgin Active's brand-new Bondi Junction Westfield outpost, a world-first concept from the global brand that brings all your wellness needs under one (exceptionally beautiful) roof. Due to open this July, Virgin Active Bondi Westfield will be the brand's first 'all-day social wellness destination.' Spread across a vast 2,500-square-metre area, it will feature everything you'd expect from a Virgin Active gym – a high-spec gym floor, fitness studios and luxury changing rooms – plus additional zones and services that transform your in-and-out workout into an all-day experience. Co-working spaces and a business lounge will be open for guests to plug in and get their work done; a huge wellness zone (complete with Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, hydrotherapy spa, cold plunge, and heated slab), and a semi-private recovery suite (featuring new-age recovery equipment like trigger point guns and compression boots) will be available to help you bounce back from your workout; and the on-site café will be serving up seasonal, sustainably sourced fuel. The fitness offering here will be anything but ordinary, with a range of classes – including innovative Reformer Pilates Tower sessions and a community-based Lift Club – designed to level up your technique and performance. But it's the additional services that will truly set it apart – massage therapists, personal trainers, osteopaths and physiotherapists will all be on-site to keep you in peak physical form, while architecturally designed spaces support your social and professional wellbeing. 'We want to establish a movement that remedies the misinformation and fakery plaguing the wellness industry, by creating spaces where wellness gets real … It's an investment in your mind, body, and soul – whether you're coming for a quick workout, a much-needed recovery experience, expert consultation, or an overdue social catch-up,' says Dean Kowarski, CEO of Virgin Active. Here are our picks of the best gyms in Sydney.

'I tried viral Dubai chocolate desserts and would make important change'
All things pistachio and Dubai chocolate are all the rage – and everybody is trying to put their own stamp on the trend in some way. Supermarkets including Aldi, Lidl and M&S have provided their own takes on the craze. So, when Creams Cafe promised they could outshine the rest of the competition, I wanted to see how they would measure up. Given how much hype the products have had, I was expecting some seriously big things. Taking to Instagram, Creams shared a picture of the shake, penning: "Our Dubai Chocolate loaded shake has only been available in our cafes for a week, but the demand has been insane! The Dubai Chocolate craze is clearly here to stay!" But, did the Creams desserts live up to other Dubai chocolate items I've tried? There was only one way to find out – and that was by conducting a taste test. So here's what I thought... The Dubai Choc Loaded Shake i described on the website as being pistachio gelato blended with milk, chocolate shards and vanilla soft serve in a glass lined with crispy chocolate shell. It's nestled on a base of pistachio kunaife crunch filling. It is topped with more chocolate shell, pistachio sauce and kunaife pastry and sounds seriously indulgent. When I was given the milkshake, I was a little disappointed. On the website, it looks green, which surely means more pistachio flavour, right? However, the one I was given was brown, and it did taste pretty much like a chocolate milkshake with a tiny bit of pistachio cream at the bottom. When you could taste the pistachio cream, it was so much better, but I feel like it wasn't distributed well across the milkshake. I would've preferred it to be the green shade of the image. The pieces of pastry were a delight too and really made the milkshake feel more luxe than your average one. Overall, I thought it was a very tasty chocolatey milkshake, but I would've preferred more pistachio. The website promises that it will have layers of chocolate chip and pistachio gelato, chocolate sauce, pistachio sauce, chocolate shards and vanilla soft serve. It's served on a base of pistachio kunaifa crunch filling for an extra dose of that Dubai-inspired flavour. I was pleased to learn you can properly taste the pistachio ice cream – and it didn't get lost in the other flavours either. However, considering it's a Dubai chocolate dessert, I'd like to see less vanilla, more chocolate and even more pistachio. My honest feedback for both of the products is to really hammer home that pistachio flavour. That's why we've bought the items, after all. But despite that tweak, I think both offerings are absolutely delicious.
