Josh Duhamel, 52, reveals ‘taboo' method he uses to ‘stay youthful and virile for as long as I can'

Josh Duhamel is turning back the clock — with a little help from modern medicine. The 'Transformers' star, 52, says he's got the same energy he had in his twenties, but admits he's kept quiet about what's really been powering his second wind. Now, with the launch of his new wellness brand, Duhamel is finally coming clean about the 'taboo' therapy he's relied on for the past five years to stay strong, sharp and camera-ready. Advertisement 5 Josh Duhamel is going public with his longevity regimen. Getty Images for Hearst Magazines Duhamel first noticed something was off a few years ago — his energy was dipping, and the high-octane lifestyle he was used to suddenly felt like a grind. 'I took an inventory, a personal inventory, of how I was feeling, and I knew that I wasn't quite where I was five, 10 years before,' he said Thursday at a Men's Health Lab event in New York. Eager for answers, Duhamel got some blood work done. The culprit was clear: low testosterone. Advertisement While some men maintain steady levels throughout life, most men start to see a gradual decline in their testosterone around age 40, according to Harvard Health. It's not the hormonal freefall women face during menopause. Instead, the drop is slow — about 1% a year — but by age 70, the average man is running 30% lower than his peak. That drop can bring a long list of changes, including decreased muscle mass and strength, hair loss, weight gain, low libido, fatigue and mood swings. Sherry Young – 'It was one of those things that I didn't want to talk about,' Duhamel said. 'Neither did anybody I was asking about it.' Advertisement Still, he decided to give it a shot. 'I started taking testosterone injections and began to feel really good,' Duhamel told Forbes in a recent interview, adding that he also began using hair growth treatments and longevity medicine. 'I had the urge to get back out and do the things I didn't have the desire to do anymore,' he added, noting that he experienced little to no side effects. TRT, a form of hormone therapy using anabolic steroids, can be administered through injections, oral meds, gels, or patches. Its popularity is rising fast in the US, with prescriptions jumping from 7.3 million in 2019 to over 11 million in 2023, according to CBS News. Over time, Duhamel's motivation shifted from looking youthful to simply keeping up. 5 Duhamel has two sons, ages 11 years and 15 months. audramari/Instagram 'I didn't have my first kid until I was 40 years old, and then it was 52; I just had another one,' the actor said. 'Overall, I want to stay as youthful and virile as I can for as long as I can.' Even with such positive results, Duhamel kept his TRT use under wraps. Advertisement 'Guys were asking me what I was doing and I didn't want to talk about it,' Duhamel said on a recent episode of The Ed Mylett Show. 'I just told them I was eating really well and working out but the truth is I was doing TRT,' adding that it still remains a 'taboo thing.' That fear nearly stopped him from going public — and from launching his new brand. 5 Josh Duhamel launched his new wellness brand, Gatlan, in April. Advertisement Gatlan, Duhamel's new venture, focuses on treatments to help men with hormone optimization, weight loss, and hair thinning. 'We want to destigmatize something that men have been doing for years, and shine a light on it, and make it not so taboo,' he told Forbes. 'You can look and feel better for much longer. Why not take advantage of modern medicine?' Duhamel credits this regimen with helping him juggle fatherhood alongside demanding roles — including his latest as rancher Staten Kirkland in 'Ransom Canyon,' a gritty Netflix drama about a man fighting to protect his family's legacy. Advertisement After five years on TRT, Duhamel said the impact is clear when he takes a break. 'It's less energy, a little harder to keep muscle on, and a little harder to keep the fat off,' he said at the Men's Health Lab event. 'You definitely can feel the difference.'

Bobcat Company and Actor and Director Josh Duhamel Give Back to the Los Angeles Fire Department

Bobcat UTV Donated as Part of its 'Work Worth Doing' Initiative Supports LAFD's First, Full-time, Paid Hand Crew LOS ANGELES, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Award-winning actor and Hollywood director Josh Duhamel recently partnered with Bobcat Company for a surprise visit to Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Station 88 to deliver a powerful gift: a brand-new Bobcat UV34XL utility vehicle. The donation was part of Bobcat's 'Work Worth Doing' campaign—a nationwide initiative celebrating the work of everyday people who are making a difference. Duhamel, a Bobcat ambassador, personally handed over the keys to the UTV in recognition of the LAFD's first, full-time, paid wildland hand crew, who help mitigate and control wildfires and will use the UTV on the frontlines of future fires. 'I think this is some of the most honorable work that you can do. It takes a special kind of person to sign up as a firefighter, especially in a place like Los Angeles where wildfires run rampant,' said Duhamel. 'We believe, myself and Bobcat, that the firefighters deserve the best tools out there, and that's why we wanted to donate this machine. I think that anytime you can support those who are protecting others is definitely work worth doing.' Bobcat is also supporting the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation by donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of its limited-edition hat Duhamel is seen wearing during his recent visit to the LAFD. 'We are grateful for Bobcat and Josh's commitment to advancing our efforts with the generous donation of a Bobcat UTV,' said Adam VanGerpen, Captain and Public Information Officer, Los Angeles City Fire Department. 'This will enhance our hand crew's efficiency in mitigating and fighting wildfires, enabling us to achieve so much more in our mission to keep the community safe.' Bobcat kicked off its 'Work Worth Doing' initiative in May by teaming up with entrepreneur and Magnolia co-founder Chip Gaines to surprise a deserving neighbor and a United States veteran, Jason Shields, with a Bobcat T595 compact track loader. Shields is the founder of Hoof Haven Sanctuary, a non-profit that rescues endangered or injured horses, rehabilitates them and provides them with a forever home. The 'Work Worth Doing' initiative continues throughout 2025 with other Bobcat ambassadors, including country musician Justin Moore and professional BMX rider Ryan Nyquist, visiting and rewarding people making a difference in their communities. Others can get involved on social media by sharing their 'work worth doing' by tagging @BobcatCompany and using hashtag #WorkWorthDoing. Josh Duhamel shares the refreshing qualities that make his wife the perfect partner in Hollywood

LOS ANGELES - Josh Duhamel admitted that it has gotten "tougher and tougher" for him to balance his career in Hollywood and his family life. During an interview with Fox News Digital, the Bobcat brand ambassador shared that balancing his work as an actor and director while launching a company named Gatlin has proved challenging, but he knows being a father and a husband comes first. "I have to constantly remind myself how important it is – the most important thing I do – is be a good husband and a good father. So yeah, it's a balance, but it's been a good life," Duhamel said. The "Ransom Canyon" star, his wife Audra and their 1-year-old son Shepherd live 40 minutes away from civilization in their "doomsday cabin" in northwest Minnesota. During the interview, Duhamel praised his wife for not getting caught up in the "BS" and being a straight-shooter. "I have to constantly remind myself how important it is – the most important thing I do – is be a good husband and a good father." "Audra is just one of those girls who we get each other. She's also from North Dakota, she's a very practical thinker, she's great with the kids, she's an amazing wife, she's beautiful, and she doesn't get caught up in all the BS you know, she's very straight, and I love that about her," he said. Duhamel purchased some land in Minnesota and spent the last 15 years building a rustic cabin. He eventually added a second parcel that came with a hunting shack and a third parcel that came with a home. During his interview with Fox News Digital, Duhamel shared that he went into business with the Bobcat Company, which makes tools, machines and equipment, to help transform his Minnesota property more efficiently. "So, I have a cabin out in the woods, in Minnesota, right across the border, and I needed help shaping the land. So I bought a Toolcat and then started talking to some of the people over there, and we started working together," he said of his six-year partnership with Bobcat. As part of Bobcat's 2025 "Work Worth Doing" campaign, Duhamel is honoring the firefighters who battled the early 2025 Los Angeles fires. Duhamel will roll up to the fire station in a Bobcat UTV packed with lunch and swag bags to personally thank the firefighters for their service and surprise them with $20,000. A UTV is a "much-needed tool to support this crew as they fight future fires on the ground," according to the company. "Hand crews use hand tools and chainsaws to construct firelines, burn out areas, and perform mop-up work after a wildfire is controlled," they stated. Duhamel told Fox News Digital he was happy to join Bobcat's campaign because he is very proud of the firefighters in Los Angeles. "I think that we all can appreciate how important a strong firefighting community is, and these guys are some of the best in the world at it. They have to be. So I'm very proud, very grateful for their work, as are most people in this town. "So, I think any time I get a chance to support them, I jump at it. I think Bobcat has been great about helping in doing work that matters in these small communities and big communities like Los Angeles," he said. "So when I heard that they wanted to do this here in Los Angeles, I thought it was an amazing idea because this equipment is so important. It really is."

Josh Duhamel Got Candid About His 21-Year Age Gap With Wife Audra Mari

In Hollywood, age-gap relationships aren't exactly rare, but it might still be shocking to know the age differences in some of our favorite couples. Among them are Josh Duhamel and his wife Audra Mari, who is 21 years younger than the Shotgun Wedding star. Speaking of their connection in a new interview, Duhamel admitted that even he was taken aback by their age difference when they first started dating. In a new appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Duhamel admitted that he and Mari didn't take things to the romantic side for years, partly because of their ages. 'It was truly platonic for years before that because, 'Nah, she's too young for me. I'm not even gonna go there,'' Duhamel said. One day, things then went a step further when he invited her to a party at his home. 'I invited her to a barbecue, still thinking it was totally platonic,' he said. 'Just as a friend from NoDak, they're aren't many people from there.' But when Mari arrived, Duhamel was in awe. 'She did come and I saw her and I was like 'Holy s–, this girl is beautiful,'' she said of his first impression. 'She's too young, I can't do it, but she's more mature than I am,' he continued. 'That's really how we started dating and it's been a beautiful thing.' Duhamel and Mari, who met in 2019, tied the knot on September 10, 2022. In January 2024, they welcomed their first son together, Shepherd. Duhamel also shares son Axl Jack Duhamel with ex-wife Fergie. The two were married from 2009 to 2019 and welcomed Axl in the middle of their marriage in 2013. Earlier this month, Duhamel gave Mari a sweet shoutout on Instagram on Mother's Day, which marked her first as a mom. 'Audra, I am so lucky to have you in my life,' he wrote alongside pictures of them and their son. 'Thank you for being such an incredible mother to our little dinkernugget, Shepherd. And thank you for loving Axl like he is your own.' 'We are all so grateful for you,' he added. 'We adore you.
