223 people receive patta under Natham Land Tax scheme in Namakkal
District Collector Durgamoorthi, on Sunday (July 13, 2025), issued patta to 223 beneficiaries in Namakkal district under the Natham Land Tax scheme. In the function held at Konankipatti near Senthamangalam, the Collector and Rajya Sabha member K.R.N. Rajeshkumar distributed pattas worth ₹2.23 crore to the beneficiaries in the presence of Senthamangalam MLA K. Ponnusamy. At the meeting, Mr. Rajeshkumar said that under the Ungaludan Stalin scheme, 238 special camps will be held in the urban and rural areas of Namakkal district. Under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme, 6,500 beneficiaries received ₹3.50 lakh each for the construction of houses. The Natham Land Tax scheme beneficiaries can construct houses under Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme and get bank loans. At the Ungaludan Stalin special camps, beneficiaries can submit a petition to get the financial assistance for construction of houses. Namakkal is the first district in the State where 35,000 people have received patta under the scheme, Mr. Rajeshkumar added. Listing out the schemes implemented by the State Government, Mr. Rajeshkumar said that for the benefit of women, the government was implementing various welfare schemes, including Kalaignar Mahalir Urimai Thogai, free travel for women in government buses and Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam, he added. District Revenue Officer R. Suman and officials participated in the event.

Valvil Ori festival in Kolli Hills on August 2,3
The two-day Valvil Ori Festival, Flower Show, and Tourism Vizha will be held at Semmedu in Kolli Hills on August 2 and 3. King Valvil Ori, who ruled over Kolli Hills around 200 AD, is renowned for his archery skills, generosity, and for upholding equality without caste discrimination. As per the Tamil Nadu Government's directive, the district administration organises this festival every year on the 17th and 18th of the Tamil month Aadi. On Friday, District Collector Durgamoorthi held a preparatory meeting at the Collectorate to discuss arrangements for the annual event. She emphasised that this year's festival would be celebrated as a 'Green Festival', promoting eco-friendly practices. The Collector urged key departments to ensure effective coordination and to take measures for the successful organisation of the event.
