19-year-old drowns while swimming in Tygart Lake
Jun. 30—PHILIPPI — A Clarksburg man is dead in a reported drowning incident Sunday evening.
Dustin Lee Dixon, 19, drowned in Tygart Lake, according to West Virginia Natural Resources Police personnel.
Nixon was with a group of friends when he attempted to swim across a cove to the lake's backwaters. At the halfway point, Nixon apparently became exhausted and went under. His friends and other people nearby attempted to rescue him, but Nixon did not resurface, police said.
No foul play or alcohol use played a part in the incident, according to a press release. Local EMS and fire departments assisted in the recovery effort.
