Texas surging with elite edge Jamarion Carlton after recent visit

Texas has picked a few huge commitments over the last week for their 2026 recruiting class as four-star defensive lineman Dylan Berymon and four-star defensive tackle Corey Wells made their pledges to the Longhorns. They have another blue-chipper in their sights as well and that's four-star edge Jamarion Carlton. The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder named Texas in his top five schools last week and also set a July 10 commitment date. Carlton was back in Austin last weekend to see the Longhorns, and he got to take in a bunch of what the program has to offer and what they have in store if he commits. Advertisement "This official visit was amazing," Carlton told Rivals earlier this week. "Just to be able to chill with the players, get some good advice and then being able to know what plan they have for me. At Texas, the plan to develop me into reaching my highest potential as a player and as a person was great. The time with the players and the coaches was pretty fun." Carlton had a productive junior season for Temple High School. He amassed 57 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, and a forced fumble. Rivals has Carlton ranked extremely high in their rankings. In addition to being the No. 46 overall prospect he's also the No. 4 edge rusher and the No. 4 recruit in the state of Texas. Texas Tech hosted Carlton at the end of April and LSU in May. He still has official visits to Texas A&M and Baylor before he commits, so last weekend was immensely important for Texas and their chances to land Carlton. Advertisement After spending time with players on the Longhorns roster as well as edge coach LaAllan Clark, Carlton can envision himself playing in Austin. "I can see myself there," Carlton said. If Texas can snag Carlton, they'll inch closer toward a top 10 class for the 2026 cycle. After having the top-ranked in , Texas has some work to do to hit that level in 2026. That class is currently ranked 20th overall. Advertisement The 6-foot, 190-pounder is the No. 244 recruit nationally and the No. 32 wide receiver according to Rivals. They also have deemed him the No. E4 prospect in the state of Texas. Stud 4-Star Defensive Lineman Commits to Texas Longhorns

Stud 4-Star Defensive Lineman Commits to Texas Longhorns originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The rich are getting richer in college football as summer kicks off and top recruit commitments for the 2026 class begin rolling in. Advertisement Most recently, four-star defensive lineman Dylan Berymon out of the state of Louisiana chose the Texas Longhorns over a competing school in the Big Ten Conference and others. "BREAKING: Four-Star DL Dylan Berymon has Committed to Texas, he tells me for @on3recruits," Hayes Fawcett posted to X on Saturday, June 7. "The [6-foot-3, 330-pound] DL from Monroe, LA, chose the Longhorns over Purdue: 'AGTG Texas is the place to be!'" Berymon also received offers from Houston, North Carolina and LSU, per On3. Eric Nahlin of On3 reported on Saturday that Berymon is a significant get for the Longhorns, who remain thin on the interior of the defensive line despite the recent success the team/defense has had as a whole both on the field and in terms of recruitment. Advertisement "Berymon, a 6-foot-2, 320-pound defensive tackle, gives Texas coach Kenny Baker his first commitment of the class after a strong first cycle on the 40 Acres," Nahlin wrote. "Despite doing well in 2025 and in the most recent portal windows, D-tackle remains a big need for the Horns. One more good class and the room should be set for the foreseeable future." "Long-term, Berymon has the look of an anchor at nose who does his dirty work clogging up the run game," Nahlin continued. "He plays with a strong base and is able to get good upfield push."
