The Dyson Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer Is Worth the Hype (and the Money), but Now It's $100 Off
Deal alert: The Dyson Supersonic Nural hair dryer is available for $399 -- a discount of 20% or $101 off its usual $500 price tag -- on Amazon. That's the lowest price we've seen on this product yet, and since it doesn't go on sale often, we don't expect a discount like this to return anytime soon. There is a catch though: It's on backorder until August, so you'll need to wait a couple of weeks to receive it. I never thought I'd actually own the Dyson Supersonic Nural. This thing had been sitting on my wishlist for months. But I recently received one as a gift, and I'm not being dramatic when I say I let out a gasp when I unwrapped it. It felt like someone had handed me the crown jewels of hair tools. (Thanks, Mom!) Fast-forward a few months and I can confidently say I'm completely obsessed with it. This isn't one of those luxe gadgets that ends up collecting dust in the back of a closet or drawer. I use it pretty much daily, and every time I do, I think, "Whoa, this really is that good." Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. How I use my super speedy Dyson hair dryer Drying my hair used to be a whole production -- arms aching, sweating and annoyed by the end, and still somehow left with frizz and flyaways. Now, it takes me under 10 minutes, which still kind of blows my mind. I have thick, slightly longer than shoulder-length hair that holds onto moisture like it's a job, so this is no small feat. The Nural model has a cool feature that senses how close it is to your scalp and adjusts the heat automatically. I didn't really get what that meant until I used it. Basically, it stops me from roasting my roots while still drying everything quickly. The Dyson Supersonic comes with a number of attachments, including a wide-tooth comb, a flyaway attachment, a gentle air attachment and a diffuser. Macy Meyer/CNET I usually start with the smoothing nozzle when I want a sleek look, but if I'm feeling lazy or just running late, I'll just rough-dry with no attachment at all. On days when I decide to lean into my natural texture, the diffuser is a game-changer when I scrunch my hair into waves. It doesn't flatten out my curls or make them frizzy like my old dryer did. It's also a lot quieter than I expected and super lightweight. I've dried my whole head while half-asleep, coffee (or wine if it's the evening) in one hand, Dyson in the other. It really is that easy. Why the Dyson makes a gasp-worthy gift Honestly, this is one of those things I never would've bought for myself (hello, price tag), but now that I have it, I can't imagine going back. It's the ultimate "treat yourself" item, but in this case, someone else treated me and I'll never stop being grateful. If you're looking for a gift that feels luxurious yet practical, this checks all the boxes. Especially now that it's on sale at the lowest price ever. Seriously, now's the time. My final thoughts The Dyson Supersonic Nural isn't just hype; it's genuinely made my hair styling better. I don't dread drying my hair anymore. In fact, I kind of enjoy it? Which, for me, is pretty amazing. If you're on the fence about it or you've been eyeing it forever like I was, this sale might just be the nudge you need. If you're looking for other fun gifts, here are our favorite kitchen gifts under $50. You can also read my reviews of my favorite Everything Maker, and my favorite coffee and espresso system.

The 6 Best Hair Dryers, According To Rigorous Testing
A good hair dryer makes your hair smooth, shiny and voluminous without causing unnecessary hair damage or arm fatigue in the process. It works quickly (with minimal noise) and mimics the look of a fresh salon blowout, without the expensive price tag. After carefully evaluating 13 contenders, I chose the T3 AireLuxe Hair Dryer as the best hair dryer overall due to its helpful features and straightforward design. My top value pick is the BaBylissPro Nano Titanium Hair Dryer thanks to its exceptional performance and affordable price tag. The best blow dryers are comfortable to hold, intuitive to use and don't cause hair damage. ILLUSTRATION: FORBES / PHOTO: MOLLY CALHOUN To determine the winners, I consulted three professional hair stylists and enlisted a panel of expert testers (including myself) to give hands-on insights. Our Top Recommendations Best Hair Dryer Overall: T3 AireLuxe Hair Dryer Best Value Hair Dryer: BaBylissPro Nano Titanium Dryer Best Luxury Hair Dryer: Dyson Supersonic Nural Best Professional Hair Dryer: iQ Perfetto Best Hair Dryer For Curly Hair: Shark SpeedStyle Pro Flex Best Hair Dryer For Fine Hair: BioIonic Powerlight Pro Dryer I gauged each dryer's performance and assessed how it held up to daily wear and tear, such as being tossed in a bathroom drawer, stuffed in a suitcase and dropped on the floor. Here are the best hair dryers on the market, according to rigorous testing. (You can also check out our in-depth reviews of the best hair straighteners and best blow dryer brushes.) T3 Micro T3 AireLuxe Hair Dryer Forbes Vetted Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence. Temperature options: 5 | Speed options: 3 | Controls: Back of handle, cool shot in front | Attachments: 2 concentrators, detangling brush, round brush | Ions: Yes | Warranty: 2 years (3 years if registered in first 60 days from purchase) Best for: All hair types—it has five heat settings and three air speeds for personalized styling Beginners, due to its intuitive controls and user-friendly instructions Drying hair fast and eliminating frizz Skip if: You want a model that comes with a diffuser You prefer controls placed on the side of the device The T3 AireLuxe is my pick for the best hair dryer overall due to its intuitive design, sleek feel, durability and helpful add-ons, which are comparable to those of significantly more expensive models. It includes two concentrator nozzles (one for drying and one for styling), along with a flat brush for detangling and a 2.5-inch round brush to create volume. The manual also offers valuable tips on use, operating and maintenance. All these details make the blow dryer a straightforward, effective beauty tool for achieving shiny, smooth hair. What can be frustrating about styling hair at home is that it never looks quite as good as a fresh-from-the-salon blowout, but the T3 made me look like I had the skills of a seasoned hairstylist. Its technology features a high-volume airstream to dry hair quickly, and it emits 10 million negative ions per second to battle frizz—a real problem for me in summer—and boost shine. A smart microchip is designed to digitally controls the temperature and maintain even heat to avoid burning hair. It also has a volume boost button to turn off negative ions, allowing you to create more volume on days when you need some extra oomph. The T3 AireLuxe features recessed buttons with multiple fan speeds and temperatures. Molly Calhoun For Forbes Vetted The button controls on this device are located at the back of the handle and are recessed, preventing accidental changes to the settings during your drying session. I liked that I didn't have to hold the cool shot button down to use it, unlike some other models. The concentrator nozzles snap on securely, which is nice since it's irritating to have a nozzle pop off mid-blow dry. Forbes Vetted Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence. Temperature options: 3 | Speed options: 2 | Controls: Front of handle | Attachments: 1 concentrator | Ions: Yes | Warranty: 4 years Best for: Those on a budget Smoothing hair Projecting less noise than many other models Skip if: You want a model that comes with a diffuser The BaBylissPro Nano Titanium Dryer is an affordable workhorse: It has straightforward features and minimal frills, but it gets the job done well. With 1,875 watts, it's stronger than many comparable models and translates to more power. It features two speed settings and three heat settings to help you tailor the results to your hair type and the look you're trying to achieve, creating smooth, sleek results even on high-humidity days. The BaBylissPro blow dryer effectively reshaped and smoothed my at-times-frizzy hair, and it did so faster than other dryers I've used. It has an ion generator that helped create reliably sleek results, so I didn't end up with wiry flyaways or curly sections near my hairline, part or at the nape of my neck. I did have to be careful, though, not to overheat my scalp with the dryer, as it can get really hot. The BaBylissPro Nano Titanium dryer has buttons on the front of the handle in addition to a cool ... More shot button. Molly Calhoun For Forbes Vetted The airflow and heat buttons on this model are at the front of the handle and they don't get jostled easily, which allowed me to grip the dryer easily without accidentally changing the power from Hi to Lo. Overall, this dryer was lightweight—I measured it at 16.1 ounces—and it was one of the quietest I tried. The included concentrator directs heat well, but it doesn't click on, so it would fall off when I set the dryer down on my countertop. The 9-foot power cord allowed lots of room for movement, but a swivel feature would be an improvement. Amazon Dyson Supersonic Nural Forbes Vetted Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence. Temperature options: 4 | Speed options: 3 | Controls: Back of barrel and on barrel head | Attachments: 2-in-1 diffuser, gentle air attachment, styling concentrator, wide-tooth comb, flyaway attachment | Ions: Yes | Warranty: 2 years Best for: Versatile styling thanks to a variety of attachments Sensors to enhance shine and protect the scalp A quiet user experience Skip if: You don't blow dry your hair often—this is an investment The Dyson Nural is like an expensive sports car—it has tons of elevated features, lots of speed and an expensive price tag to boot. Is it necessary? Probably not. But does it feel like a worthy upgrade, and will you enjoy using it? Absolutely. It offers 1,600 watts of styling power and a 110,000 rotations per minute (rpm) fan speed, which translates to super fast hair drying. It comes with five attachments and also has a host of intelligent features that are designed to optimize hair health while styling. While the Dyson Nural wasn't one of the lightest dryers we tried (it weighs 16.8 ounces), it's well-balanced and makes it easy to angle the heat to cover all parts of my head, including the hard-to-reach back. The magnetic attachments click on and off easily, and they feel substantial and well-made. The dryer was quiet and operated at a volume of around 76 decibels, even on the highest setting. The best part? I was able to create smooth styles that either had volume or were sleeker, as well as wavy styles with defined, pieces and bouncy coils. The only thing I don't particularly love about this model is that the cord is thick and bulky, which makes it challenging to wrangle and store. The Dyson Supersonic Nural control buttons are at the back of the device's handle and on the barrel ... More itself. Molly Calhoun For Forbes Vetted Historically, I've found Dyson hair tools to be complicated to use and often requiring a steep learning curve, but this one was intuitive. And honestly, it does a lot of the work for you, so you don't have to think very hard. It has a scalp protect feature that automatically adjusts the temperature by measuring the distance to your hair. The device also recognizes each attachment and automatically adjusts to your preferred settings. I loved the dryer's pause detect feature—it deactivates the heat and reduces the airflow to low when you set it down, which meant I didn't have to turn off the dryer between unclipping sections of hair. Forbes Vetted Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence. Temperature options: 4 | Speed options: 3 | Controls: Side of handle, cool shot on front | Attachments: 1 diffuser and 2 concentrator nozzles | Ions: Yes | Warranty: 1 year Best for: Being lightweight and comfortable to hold Long-lasting motor Quick drying time Skip if: You're looking for a budget option You want something with a longer warranty At just over 10 ounces, the iQ Perfetto combines an arm-friendly weight with 1,500 watts of power. It has a motor speed of 110 rpm, and as a result I found the strong airflow dried my thick hair in record time. While this model has numerous professional features, it's also intuitive for hair styling novices. It features an easy-to-read LED display and a long cord, providing ample extension for maneuvering in your bathroom.(To note: While we tested the iQ Perfetto, the brand now has the iQ3 Perfetto on the market, although it's not as widely available.) When I first unboxed this model, I was in awe of its small size, and I was concerned it couldn't possibly be strong enough to tackle my mass of hair well. But its fast motor speed excelled at drying my hair and giving it a shiny finish. The control buttons are located on the side, completely outside my grip area. However, just in case, this model features a safety lock button that prevents me from accidentally activating buttons during use. You can also store your desired speed and temperature with this hair dryer's memory function technology. The only thing I didn't love was that it was slightly louder than other models I tried, at around 79 decibels. The Italy iQ Perfetto was the smallest, lightest dryer that I tested. Molly Calhoun For Forbes Vetted This well-constructed model is equipped with the brand's Oxy-Active technology, and while it's hard to test the feature, it's intended to act as an anti-bacterial protectant for the scalp. It's also equipped with a care kit and two removable, washable filters that ultimately guarantee greater durability of the engine. Ulta Beauty Shark SpeedStyle Pro Flex Forbes Vetted Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence. Temperature options: 3 | Speed options: 3 | Controls: Back of handle, cool shot in front | Attachments: Turbo concentrator, defrizz fast diffuser, quicksmooth brush, frizz fighter finishing tool | Ions: Yes | Warranty: 2 years Best for: Those who like to style their hair a variety of ways Giving shine to both curly and straight styles Small, portable size—it folds down to pack well in a suitcase Skip if: You want a straightforward blow dryer and don't need all the attachments While Shark is primarily known for its powerful vacuums, it also offers two top-rated blow dryer models: the Shark HyperAir and the Shark SpeedStyle. The SpeedStyle Pro Flex is the brand's folding option, and it packs a big punch in its petite size. The dimensions make this device easy to hold and manipulate for styling. It's also powerful and fast—it generates considerable force without being excessively loud. This dryer is an excellent option for curly hair, but I also appreciate that it's versatile—it allows you to style and wear your hair curly, wavy, with lots of bounce, or sleek and streamlined. Overall, this device offers many of the features of the more expensive Dyson, but for a more palatable price. The SpeedStyle Pro Flex is designed to measure and regulate temperature 1,000 times per second, never reaching the territory of heat damage. It also features a scalp shield for a comfortable experience and to prevent damage to new hair growth. While I initially thought this was a gimmicky feature, I found that it helped protect my scalp from any burning sensation when I focused heat close to my roots. The Shark SpeedStyle Pro Flex folds up to fit easily into bathroom drawers or your suitcase. Molly Calhoun For Forbes Vetted While a slight learning curve is required, the attachment mechanism is extremely well-designed. Each one secures with a satisfying snap and is removable via a release button. For curls, if you have longer, thicker hair and want more volume at the roots, the diffuser has an extended prong setting. The brand also sells two additional attachments separately—a wide-tooth comb to lift and stretch natural hair, and an express touch-up brush. Amazon BioIonic Powerlight Pro Dryer Forbes Vetted Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence. Temperature options: 3 | Speed options: 2 | Controls: Front of handle | Attachments: 1 concentrator nozzle | Ions: Yes | Warranty: 5 years if registered within 30 days of purchase Best for: Lightweight feel Straightforward user experience Extended warranty Skip if: You're looking for something with a diffuser Fine hair tends to be flat and limp, making it difficult to maintain any controlled, intentional volume. BioIonic's Powerlight Pro Dryer features ionic technology that eliminates frizz and static, all while maintaining bounce. Even better, it has notorious longevity, with many calling it their forever blow dryer. This model has 1,875 watts of power, which is higher than that of many dryers on our list, but it was also one of the quietest we tested at 75 decibels. Our tester reports that she has owned this dryer for four years and that it's the best she has ever owned. She has a lot of hair, so finding a dryer with the power to get the job done can be challenging, but she says this device works quickly and dries her strands in 10 to 15 minutes. The BioIonic Powerlight Pro Dryer reduces frizz, boosts body and works efficiently for years, ... More according to our tester. Bridget Chapman For Forbes Vetted Our tester reports that this blow dryer doesn't create frizz or damage hair, instead offering a polished, voluminous look. She uses this anytime she wants her hair to have more oomph. One con for this device is that it has a cool shot button that requires you to hold it down during use to set your style. Other Hair Dryers We Tested We tested 13 products total, and seven didn't make the cut—although some could be a good option for certain users. Here are the rest of the models we tested. Bio Ionic 10X Ultra Light Speed Dryer: Our tester didn't like that this dryer has only one setting, and the concentrator fell off during use. However, this model is very lightweight at under 1 pound. Drybar Reserve Ultralight Anti-Frizz Blow Dryer: Our tester said that this one felt too plastic-y, and one of the stylists we spoke with felt this might get too hot for home use. It was lightweight and quiet, however, and it has a unique light-up display. GHD Helios 1875W Advanced Professional Hair Dryer: While our tester generally loves GHD hair tools, she didn't love this dryer. She found it to be heavy and loud compared to the others she tested. Shark HyperAir: Our tester said the attachments that come with this dryer felt like they belonged on a vacuum. They were not intuitive to use, and the device is heavy—weighing 2 pounds without any attachments—and loud. Kristin Ess Iconic Style Professional Blow Dryer: Our tester loved the Instagram-worthy white-and-rose-gold finish of this one for the price; it looks much more expensive than it is. The dealbreakers: It was one of the heaviest and loudest dryers she tested. Conair InfinityPro SmoothWrap Hair Dryer: For our tester, this dryer yielded noticeably frizzy results. Its coating also scratched easily, and she couldn't find any information about a warranty. It was, however, among the quietest she tested, and it includes a diffuser and a concentrator. Remington Hair Dryer With Damage Protection Styler: This one gave off a noticeable chemical, plastic-burning smell when our tester used it for the first time. When she did a drop test, the filter popped off immediately. It was very lightweight and quiet, however, and she liked that it came with a concentrator and diffuser, as well as a hanging loop. She has over 20 years of experience covering lifestyle content. Calhoun also consulted three hair experts: Brooke Jordan, co-owner and stylist at The Bird House in Brooklyn, NY; Cari Kalvelage, stylist and colorist at Salon Buzz in Chicago; and Crissy Clayton, master stylist at Whip Salon in Hilton Head Island. They each provided insights on blow dryer features to look out for and avoid, as well as general best practices for blow drying hair. How I Tested The Best Hair Dryers I evaluated blow dryers based on their effectiveness and features, and I also took expert opinions into account. Here's what I found. Effectiveness Lots of bells and whistles on a blow dryer are nice, but the true test of a great blow dryer is ultimately whether it's effective and achieves your desired results. I gauged if each model eliminated frizz, created volume or sleekness, and dried hair quickly. I used each blow dryer twice (during humid summer months) on my long, wavy, frizz-prone hair. For smooth styles, I applied a heat protectant, then rough-dried my hair until it was about 80% dry. Next, I used a 2.5-inch round brush to create straight hair with volume at the roots and a slight bend at the ends. For wavy styles, I applied a curl cream immediately after showering and then diffused my hair until it was about 70% dry. I then allowed it to air dry the rest of the way. I clocked each session to gauge efficiency, then assessed my hair's smoothness, volume and shine. For each dryer, I assessed the wattage, number of temperature settings, fan settings, weight and ... More button location. Molly Calhoun For Forbes Features And Attachments A good blow dryer should have multiple heat settings, allowing you to choose the lowest suitable one for your hair type, which reshapes hair without causing damage. For each dryer, I assessed the wattage, number of temperature settings, fan settings, weight and button location. I also noted if the dryer came with attachments—specifically a concentrator nozzle or diffuser—to enhance specific styles. I tested special features like cool shot buttons, scalp protection settings and volume-boosting features. To test durability, I (reluctantly) dropped each dryer from waist height onto my tiled bathroom floor. Noise Level For the most part, the quieter the better when it comes to blow dryers since you're waving them around right next to your ears. For each dryer, I assessed them using the Decibel X app, holding each dryer at a distance of one foot from my phone. Most models were in the mid to high 70s decibel level on their most powerful—and loudest—settings. It's worth noting that prolonged exposure to noise levels over 85 decibels can damage your hearing, according to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Even though you don't use your blow dryer for hours on end, extra noise is pretty unpleasant. Expert Approval Finally, I ran my selections by hair experts, asking which features were essential and which were merely desirable. They emphasized that hair type is something to consider and specifically noted features such as temperature settings, ions, cool shot buttons and cord length. How To Pick The Best Hair Dryer Finding the best hair dryer for you can be intensely personal, as it depends on the model's technology and how it feels in your hand during use. This is a beauty tool that you'll use regularly, after all, so performance and durability are key. Wattage The wattage of a hair dryer refers to its electrical power and the heat it generates. A higher wattage means a blow dryer is more powerful, but higher heat isn't always necessary and can potentially be damaging if used excessively. Most hair dryers range between 1,500 and 2,000 watts. 'A higher wattage—typically 1,800 to 2,200 watts for professional models—translates directly to faster airflow and quicker drying times, which ultimately minimizes heat exposure by reducing the time your hair is under direct heat,' says Crissy Clayton, master stylist at Whip Salon Hilton Head Island. 'It's a key factor for both speed and hair health.' Fan Speed Fan speed directly affects hair drying time, and it refers to how forcefully the air is coming out of the dryer. While some dryers list their fan speed (like the Dyson Supersonic Nural and iQ Perfetto), most don't, although you can typically gauge fan speed by feeling how forcefully a dryer propels air. Fan speed is important because it's what helps blow moisture from the surface of your hair, rather than heating it to evaporate it. Ionic And Ceramic Features Most pros say ionic and ceramic features make a difference, although it's difficult to find research that supports their efficacy. 'Ionic technology helps smooth and reduce frizz, especially if your hair is coarse or textured,' says Brook Jordan, owner and stylist at The Bird House salon. 'It's usually more affordable and easier to find in traditional models like the BaByliss or Elchim.' While ionic features aren't always included, 'a high-quality blow dryer should feature a well-balanced ion output,' says Clayton. 'This helps to close the hair cuticle, promoting smoothness, reducing frizz, and enhancing overall hair health and shine.' A ceramic coating on a blow dryer is intended to evenly distribute heat to hair. This is ultimately said to result in a gentler drying experience, helping to retain the hair's natural moisture and shine. Temperature And Speed Settings 'We generally recommend staying below 350° Fahrenheit while drying,' says Clayton. 'The cooler the temperature you can effectively style with, the less potential heat damage to your hair.' When looking for a dryer, high, medium, and low temperature and speed settings allow you to tailor your drying experience to your hair type and the style you're trying to achieve. 'The biggest things to look for are airflow and heat control,' says Jordan. But what really makes a difference, she says, is the type of motor. 'Digital motor dryers—like the Dyson or Shark—are a splurge, but they're lighter, quieter, and they last way longer," she says. "They also tend to dry hair faster without blasting it with a bunch of unnecessary heat, which helps prevent damage.' Another nice-to-have feature is a cool shot button. 'Cooling the hair helps to lock in the shape and seal the cuticle,' says Jordan. Ideally, most hair dryers don't require you to hold down the cool shot button to maintain the cooling function. Attachments The right attachments can really complement your blow-drying experience. 'A precision nozzle can make all the difference when you're trying to get a super smooth blowout,' says Jordan. 'If you're a curly girl, you'll need a diffuser to cut down on air-drying time, but even if you have a slight wave, using a diffuser can take your hair from kind of wavy to truly curly if done right,' she says. Some dryers also come with a comb attachment for smoothing and stretching textured hair, or a finishing tool that's intended to help tame flyaways. Ergonomics Weight and comfort matter, too. 'Giving yourself a good at-home blowout is much more fun—and less of a sweaty endeavor in summer heat—when you have something lightweight and balanced,' says Jordan. This can be particularly important if you have long or thick hair. The dryers we tested ranged from about 11 ounces to 18 ounces. Button placement is important so you don't change fan speed or temperature accidentally while blow drying. While you'll see buttons placed on the back, front and side of hair dryer handles, specific models have recessed buttons that are harder to mistakenly change, like the T3 AireLuxe, or they have a button lock feature, like the iQ Perfetto. Warranty And Return Policy Most blow dryers we tested for this story come with a two-year warranty, so be cautious of any with a shorter return window. Also, consider whether you receive a longer warranty by registering your product. If you ultimately decide a hair dryer isn't for you, both Amazon and Sephora have generous policies, and they allow you to return a product within 30 days for any reason; Sephora will even allow you to return an item that is gently used. What Is The Best Hair Dryer On The Market? Our pick for best overall hair dryer is T3's AireLuxe Hair Dryer for its intuitive controls and high performance for a variety of hair types. For a value option, we recommend BaByliss Pro's Nano Titanium Dryer because it's lightweight, quiet and offers extraordinary smoothing capabilities. Our pick for best luxury hair dryer is Dyson's Supersonic Nural for its intelligent features and ease of use. Which Hair Dryer Is Least Damaging? It's hard to say, because this can depend on how often you dry hair, the heat settings you use and how closely you apply heat. We like the Dyson Supersonic Nural for its intelligent heat features—it decreases heat the closer you get to the scalp to minimize hair and scalp damage. The IQ Perfetto also has scalp-protecting capabilities. 'Steer clear of dryers that advertise intense heat as their main feature,' says Jordan. 'Look for one that's focused on airflow, not just heat output. That'll always give you a smoother, healthier result.' As a general rule, keep the dryer moving and don't press the nozzle right against your hair, she says. You want it a few inches away, with the airflow going down the hair shaft to help smooth the cuticle. Do Expensive Hair Dryers Make A Difference? This is nuanced. In general, more expensive hair dryers come with better motors that will last for years. As a rule, look for blow dryers that have multiple heat and air flow settings. 'Invest in a good dryer and it will last you,' says Cari Kalvelage, stylist and colorist at Salon Buzz in Chicago. 'Drugstore blow dryers are inexpensive, but they don't have a lot of longevity and they can sometimes get way too hot and fry your hair.'

Amazing Dyson hair dryer that will 'leave hair soft' now £70 off in exclusive sale
The Dyson Supersonic Nural in Vinca Blue/Topaz is now £329.99, down from £399.99, in an exclusive limited-time deal on Dyson's website As summer approaches, many are on the lookout for smarter ways to manage their haircare routine without sacrificing performance. The Dyson Supersonic Nural hair dryer offers a high-tech solution, and for a limited time, it's available at a reduced price, making it a notable option for those seeking innovation in styling. Available exclusively on Dyson's website, the Supersonic Nural in Vinca Blue and Topaz is now on offer for £329.99, down from its original price of £399.99. This £70 saving applies only to the Vinca Blue/Topaz model. Other colours currently in stock include Jasper Plum, Ceramic Patina/Topaz, and Strawberry Bronze/Blush Pink, but these are not included in the current deal. The Supersonic Nural is marketed as providing 'fast, intelligent drying' with 'no heat damage,' using a network of Nural sensors to adjust airflow and temperature to enhance natural shine and help protect scalp health. Its built-in Scalp protect mode maintains an optimal temperature of 55C near the scalp, while attachment learning recognises and adjusts to your styling habits. The Pause detect function uses motion sensors to shut down the heater when the device is set down, saving energy and improving safety. This model comes with five attachments: a gentle air attachment for close drying, a re-engineered styling concentrator, a wide-tooth comb, a new wave+curl diffuser, and a flyaway attachment designed for sleek finishes. With four heat settings ranging from 28C to 100C and three airflow settings, the device aims to suit a variety of styling needs. The cold shot feature allows users to lock in their style once finished. For those considering alternatives, the ghd Helios Professional Hair Dryer is available on Amazon for £127.99, reduced from £179. It has a 4.7-star rating from over 2,000 reviews. Meanwhile, the Shark FlexStyle 5-in-1 Air Styler & Hair Dryer with Storage Case is priced at £259.99 (down from £279.99) and holds a 4.3-star rating based on 841 reviews. But if it's the Dyson Supersonic Nural you're after, you're not alone, it's had users raving about its technology and styling results. With a 4.5-star rating from 949 users, the Dyson Supersonic Nural has received strong praise for its performance. One reviewer said: 'Brilliant hairdryer, lots of attachments to choose from, and features, much quieter than other dryers, well balanced and comfortable to use…Hair dries faster and feels in a far better condition.' However, not all feedback is positive. Another buyer noted: 'It's good but there are a few things that are super annoying. Firstly, the cut-out design feature cuts in when I'm slowly drying my hair. Also their customer service isn't great.' Another user wrote: 'Only used three times, and although process takes longer than with my previous dryer, my own body temperature does not rise to the point of meltdown, so must be better for my hair. Hair feels thick, strong and bouncy, without frizz.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. On the other hand, a less impressed customer commented: 'I have found this hairdryer is much heavier and incredibly noisy… possibly will return it.' One more reviewer added: 'Absolutely love my Supersonic Nural. Has cut down my drying by half the time. The dome works great on my medium-length wavy hair and I finish off the roots with diffuser. Leaves hair so soft.' For many, the Supersonic Nural represents a big leap in haircare technology. If you're looking to upgrade to one of the smartest dryers around, this might be the time.
