EBK Jaaybo Upset Over Missing XXL Freshman Shoot Amid Incarceration

Rapper EBK Jaaybo made the cut for the annual XXL Freshman list this week while locked up for theft, weapons and controlled substance charges -- an "honor" he wished he could have gotten in person!!! EBK Jaaybo's management got a hold of the newly minted XXL Freshman while he's currently being held in Pope County Detention Center in Arkansas ... the rapper tells us he has FOMO!!! "I was disappointed I couldn't make it in-person, but for XXL to allow me to still be selected even though I'm in jail, is an honor," EBK tells TMZ Hip Hop. "I know they don't have to do it -- so that's gangsta!!!" The Stockton, Calif.-born rapper follows Chief Keef as the latest rapper to make XXL Freshman while behind bars, but he's been blowing up in the past year through his albums "The Reaper" and "Don't Trust Me." He's connected on this cover with the likes of Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Ray Vaughn and LiAngelo Ball, AKA Gelo. Jaaybo's known for his aggressive lyrics -- even OGs like Mistah F.A.B. have taken notice -- but says he has no smoke for his Freshman class!!!"It's been some greats to be chosen, so I'm glad to be a part of the 2025 class," Jaaybo continued ... "I fux with em." We're told his attorneys are preparing for a big day in court in July -- hopefully to spring him out in time for the NBA YoungBoy's MASA Tour!!!

Stockton-based rapper EBK Jaaybo arrested by Arkansas State Police on multiple charges

Stockton-based rapper EBK Jaaybo was arrested on May 18 by the Arkansas State Police on multiple felony charges. EBK Jaaybo, whose real name is Jaymani Gorman, was booked into the Pope County Detention Center on two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of criminal use of a prohibited weapon, and one count of theft by receiving. The arrest marked Gorman's second run-in with the law in 2025. He was arrested by the Stockton Police Department on March 5 near Pixie Drive and Kingsley Avenue after a routine traffic stop for a vehicle leaving the area in violation of traffic laws. Gorman and four other adults in the vehicle were detained. He was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of narcotic controlled substances and a parole violation. Previously, Gorman served a year in the San Joaquin County Jail for illegal gun possession. He was released from custody on Feb. 6, according to court records. Gorman rose to fame with his 2024 single 'Boogieman,' which appeared on Billboard's U.S. Bubbling Under Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. The song has garnered nearly 117 million streams on Spotify to date. Gorman's arrest came days after he was announced as a performer on YoungBoy Never Broke Again's first headlining tour. The Louisiana rapper, also known as NBA YoungBoy, was recently released from federal prison after serving 23 months for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The tour, which includes 27 U.S. cities, is scheduled to stop in Oakland on Sept. 12 and Sacramento on Sept. 13. Record reporter Hannah Workman covers news in Stockton and San Joaquin County.
