Selfie points, games ensure festive vibe at Parent-Teacher meet in Vizianagaram
A festive atmosphere prevailed across schools in Vizianagaram district on Thursday as thousands of parents participated in the mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) organised in 2,232 schools and 180 junior colleges.
The PTA initiative, held shortly after ₹13,000 was credited to mothers' accounts for each student under the 'Talliki Vandanam' scheme aimed at strengthening parent-teacher collaboration received an enthusiastic response across the district.
For the event, schools were transformed into vibrant venues with engaging activities such as musical chairs for mothers, tug-of-war competitions for fathers, and photo booths with selfie points, encouraged active participation.
Minister for MSME Kondapalli Srinivas attended the PTA at Maradam village in Dattirajeru mandal. While Collector B.R. Ambedkar interacted with parents at Kumaram KGBV school in Jami mandal. Vizianagaram District Tourism Officer Kumara Swamy, chief guest at the Zilla Parishad High School in Jami said: 'Academic standards of students will improve with the joint efforts of parents and teachers.'
Jami ZP High school headmaster S.V. Sekhar Kumar urged students to plant at least one sapling in the current monsoon season as a token of love for their mothers. He said: 'The 'EK Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative has inspired many children and they have planted saplings in their areas of residence as well as within the school premises.'
At the Gantyada Zilla Parishad High School, headmistress Alamanda Jhansi urged parents to ensure children study at least two hours daily at home to complete their homework and prepare for the monthly, quarterly and final examinations. Additionally, she appealed to local public representatives to provide a RO water plant for the school to ensure safe drinking water for the students. Local leaders assured that they would take it up with Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, a native of Gantyada village.
