‘How only 1 team has been reprimanded is beyond me': Michael Vaughan slams ICC decision for only docking points from ENG for slow over rate at Lord's

After England were docked points for slow over rate against India in Lord's Test on Wednesday, former player Michael Vaughan criticized the decision saying that both teams were guilty of the same issue but only one team was reprimanded. 'Let's be honest both teams over rates at Lords were very very poor .. How only 1 team has been reprimanded is beyond me..,' he posted on X. England were deemed two overs short of the regulated over-rates at the end of the Test that they eventually by 22 runs in a thrilling Day 5 finish against India to take a series 2-1 lead after three matches. Let's be honest both teams over rates at Lords were very very poor .. How only 1 team has been reprimanded is beyond me .. #ENGvsIND — Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) July 16, 2025 This came under Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions, by which a side is penalised one point for each over short, and after time allowances were taken into consideration. After the deduction, England's tally in the World Test Championship standings dropped from 24 to 22 out of 36 points, consequently reducing their point percentage from 66.67% to 61.11%. Consequently, England have slipped to the third spot as former champions Australia remained on top after their 3-0 thumping of West Indies in the Caribbean. Ben Stokes' men were also levied 10 per cent of their match fees for the offence. 'England captain Ben Stokes pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction imposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. Due to this, there was no need of a formal hearing,' an ICC statement read. On Monday, India lost the 3rd Test at lord's against England by 22 runs. The visitors had the 5th and final day requiring 135 runs and England having to pick six wickets after setting India a 193-run target. The hosts got four Indian batters out before lunch but were made to work hard for the remaining two wickets in the last two sessions. India were finally all out for 170 and went 1-2 down in the series with the 4th match scheduled for Manchester next week.

IND vs ENG: Not Jasprit Bumrah or Mohammed Siraj - Nitish Kumar Reddy rattles England with a double blow in one over

England entered the 3rd Test at Lord's, London, bracing for the fury of India's lethal pace trio - Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep. But in focusing on the obvious threats, they seemed to miss the wildcard in India's line-up: Nitish Kumar Reddy. Introduced into the attack by captain Shubman Gill in the 14th over, Reddy wasted no time making his presence felt. In a fiery burst, the pace all-rounder did what the frontline quicks couldn't - he dismantled England's top order in a matter of minutes. With back-to-back strikes in the span of just three balls, Reddy sent both openers, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, packing, flipping the script and jolting England's innings. So what happened? At 13.3 overs, Nitish Kumar Reddy got his breakthrough. A harmless-looking short ball down the leg side lured Ben Duckett into a flick. But instead of finding the boundary, he got a faint glove, and Rishabh Pant, quick to react, dived to his right to take a smart catch. The appeal was loud, the finger went up fast, and just like that, Reddy had his maiden Test wicket on English soil. This time, it was a beauty - a ball that angled in before straightening just enough to catch Zak Crawley in two minds. He reached out hesitantly, and the ball feathered his glove on its way to Pant, who made no mistake. Two openers gone and a fiery statement from a young all-rounder who had just shifted the mood at Lord's. Fans react Soon after, fans flooded X (formerly Twitter) with praise for Nitish Kumar Reddy, applauding his unexpected double strike that not only broke England's opening stand but also forced the visitors to rethink their entire approach. Jasprit Bumrah's Fiery Net Session At Lord's Goes Viral Ahead Of 3rd Test Vs England

After skipping the second Test at Edgbaston as part of his workload management, Jasprit Bumrah was back doing what he does best — steaming in and troubling batters with seam, swing, and accuracy. During India's Tuesday practice session at Lord's, the 30-year-old bowled for close to an hour without a break, despite it being an optional training day. Bumrah's answer to bowling coach Morne Morkel's question — 'old ball or new ball?' — was immediate and emphatic: 'I'll definitely take the new ball.' Moments later, he delivered a seaming peach that induced an edge from Karun Nair, leaving no doubt about his readiness for the third Test. Jasprit Bumrah in the nets at Lord's #INDvENG #INDvsENG #ENGvIND #ENGvsIND — Cricketism (@MidnightMusinng) July 9, 2025 Bumrah's return to Lord's stirs memories of the iconic 2021 clash, where he played a crucial all-round role in scripting one of India's most memorable overseas wins. Despite a duck and no wickets in the first innings, Bumrah stitched a match-turning 89-run unbroken 10th-wicket stand with Mohammed Shami, setting up a target that England failed to chase. His redemption came with the ball in the final innings — removing Rory Burns, Joe Root, and Ollie Robinson with skill and venom, including a lethal off-cutter that left batters stunned. India's Rotation Pays Off As Bumrah Returns Fresh India's decision to rest Bumrah for the Edgbaston Test — part of a pre-planned three-match workload strategy — sparked criticism when the team trailed 0-1. But a stellar performance by Akash Deep (10 wickets) and Mohammed Siraj (7 wickets) silenced doubters and allowed Bumrah to recharge without pressure. Now, as India prepare for the third Test starting July 10, Bumrah's return adds bite to a pace attack that is already humming with confidence. With Siraj and Akash likely to share the new ball again, Bumrah's potential deployment as first change could be a tactical masterstroke, especially with his ability to reverse the ball once it's a few overs old. Green Tinge and Hot Weather: Perfect Bumrah Conditions? The Lord's pitch, as observed on Tuesday, bore a greenish hue — a rarity in recent English summers. India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak labeled the surface 'challenging,' and that's music to the ears of Bumrah, who thrives on movement, bounce, and unpredictable seam. Unlike the relatively flat pitch during the 2021 win, conditions this time — combined with early 30s Celsius temperatures — could promote reverse swing. Bumrah's skillset, especially his deceptive slower balls, pinpoint yorkers, and ability to generate seam off even docile pitches, make him India's most potent weapon heading into the crucial third Test. Team India in Good Spirits, Led by Bumrah's Energy The mood in the Indian camp was upbeat. Bumrah, ever the prankster when not in action, was seen joking with teammates. After watching Nitish Kumar Reddy bowl a zippy outswinger, Bumrah chirped, 'Good one, Brett Lee.' He also shared light moments with Shardul Thakur, who playfully bowed at Bumrah's feet in jest. But once the ball was in hand, it was all business. Bumrah pushed Nair, B Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, and Dhruv Jurel during the net session, demonstrating not only intensity but also command of rhythm and control — a clear sign he's ready to unleash at full tilt. What to Expect from Bumrah at Lord's With the series on the line, Bumrah's return is more than a boost — it's a statement. Expect him to spearhead the attack with the new ball or play enforcer if conditions favor bounce and reverse swing later in the innings. His previous success at Lord's, tactical intelligence, and current rhythm make him India's X-factor as they eye a historic series lead. Jasprit Bumrah is not just back. He's back where it all clicked — at Lord's, under the sun, on a green pitch, with the Dukes ball in hand. And he's ready to roar.

'My prediction is still alive': Michael Vaughan stands by 3-1 England victory prediction despite India's 'outstanding' performance at Edgbaston

Former England captain Michael Vaughan remains unbudged about his prediction despite India's dominant win at Edgbaston in the 2nd Test. As per Vaughan, the home side will clinch the series 3-1. read more Having endured a tough loss to England in the series opener at Headingley, Team India made a staggering comeback by thrashing the hosts at one of their most prideful venues, Edgbaston. Shubman Gill and Co. addressed all the pain points which were exposed in the 1st Test and registered a massive 336-run victory in the 2nd Test to level the series at 1-1. With a dominant win like that, Team India would be oozing with confidence and could ride on the momentum in the Lord's Test, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 10. However, former England captain Michael Vaughan does not belong in such a category. Vaughan, who is an old critic of Team India, has reiterated his prediction about the final scoreline of the series. According to Vaughan, England will still win the series 3-1 despite India's flawless victory at Edgbaston. Vaughan addressed the fact that India were 'outstanding' this week, but also made it known that he is unbudged about his prediction. 'India have been too good this week .. Outstanding performance.c .. 3-1 England ..' Vaughan posted on X. India have been too good this week .. Outstanding performance .. Vaughan did not mince words in denouncing England, stating that the home team expected India to repeat the same mistakes, which backfired. 'This week, they were back to their bad old ways,' he wrote. 'Apart from four hours on the third day where Harry Brook and Jamie Smith batted beautifully, they have been totally dominated by India.' Vaughan highlighted that England misread their opening win in Leeds, where dropped catches by India tilted the momentum. 'They turned up here and thought they should do everything the same way, and it has backfired,' he said, warning that relying on 'fortune' won't win big series. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Gautam Gambhir's Post-Match Act Stumps Everyone, Ravi Shastri Says "Don't See That Too Often"

The date was July 06, the venue was Edgbaston, the occasion was India's historic triumph in a Test match against England, and head coach Gautam Gambhir was smiling. It isn't often that fans see such an expression on Gambhir's face, but it truly turned out to be a happy Sunday for the Indian team and its fans. As Shubman Gill and Gambhir went out for customary handshakes with the members of the England team, the head coach seemed truly elated with what his team managed to do in the second Test of the series. The visual was such that Ravi Shastri, a commentator on the occasion, couldn't help but wrap Gambhir's smile around with his tracer bullet-like description. "Don't see that smile too often, but he deserves every bit of it. There is no better feeling for a coach than when you bounce back almost immediately to keep the series alive," he said. Ravi Shastri on-air: Don't see him smile too often but Gautam Gambhir deserves every bit of it. #ENGvsIND — KKR Vibe (@KnightsVibe) July 6, 2025 Reflecting on the win after the game, Gill was happy with the all-round show the team managed to produce, especially in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. 'I'm very happy we won the match. No matter how many runs you score, if the team doesn't win, it doesn't feel like you've achieved anything. It's my first win as a Test captain, and we've done it at a ground where India had never won before — that makes it even more special. Motivation is always there, whether you win or lose. "After losing the first Test, we weren't panicking. We've come back from 0-1 before. We knew if we consistently posted 400–450 runs, our bowlers would bring us back into the match," Gill said on JioHotstar. "There were questions - could we take 20 wickets, could we score big runs? But we knew we were close in the last match too. Had we held on to half the chances, the result could have been different. I'm especially proud of our pacers. When your fast bowlers take 16–17 wickets, it makes the job much easier for the captain. Bumrah didn't play this match, but India has depth. The bowlers showed they're among the best in the country and can take 20 wickets in any conditions," he further said.
