Liverpool restaurant slashes 50% off prices

A Liverpool venue has brought back its version of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Italian restaurant Wildwood has reintroduced the initiative as a way to 'make dining affordable again'. The restaurant, which is part of the city's Clayton Square shopping centre but sits opposite Church Street, prides itself on serving European and international favourites. On the menu, you will find everything from pizza, pasta, and grill to kids' meals and desserts. The chain's latest spring menu includes a ribeye steak, a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, peri-peri half chicken, and grilled Butterflied sea bass, among other staples. It added: 'With rising costs impacting both businesses and families, we are stepping up to make dining out accessible again.' You can grab 50% off food (main courses) and non-alcoholic drinks as part of the deal. This is up to £10 per person, discounted and available every Monday to Wednesday until April 30. The brand said it was doing this because 'the restaurant industry has been hit hard by rising costs, taxes and wages, making it difficult for businesses to stay open and for customers to afford to dine out'. They said by funding EOTHO themselves; they hope they can 'support both our customers and our teams'. CEO Jonny Plant added: 'We know that families are feeling the pinch, and dining out isn't as affordable as it once was. "That's why we're bringing back EOTHO, which we fund entirely. We want to make great food accessible again and bring customers back during the early part of the week.' The "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme was a British government initiative, no longer active, that aimed to support the hospitality industry after the COVID-19 pandemic. It offered a 50% discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks (up to £10 per diner) at participating establishments on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in 2020. The scheme was designed to encourage people to dine out and revitalize the industry during a challenging time.
