ESPN's Mike Tannenbaum raises eyebrows with apparent on-air Brian Windhorst weight dig

ESPN NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum raised some eyebrows when he cracked a crude joke about NBA senior writer Brian Windhorst on 'Get Up' Friday morning. The moment occurred during a segment, 'Are You Convinced?' when Dan Graziano, filling in for host Mike Greenberg, asked Tannenbaum if he thought Aaron Rodgers would lead the Steelers to their first playoff win since the 2016 season. 'No,' Tannenbaum said as laughter was heard in the background. 'I'm more convinced that Windy is in the cafeteria right now.' Windhorst, who recently made headlines after LeBron James publicly trolled him, was in the studio and appeared on Friday's show — however, he was not involved in that particular segment. 'No idea where Windy is,' Graziano added. ESPN senior NBA writer Brian Windhorst on 'Get Up' Friday, June 27, 2025. YouTube/ESPN Some viewers were curious about Tannenbaum's joke. 'Did Mike Tannenbaum just make fun of Brian Windhorst's weight on national TV?' one person wrote on X, including a clip of the moment. 'Is this inside joke that Windhorst hates the ESPN cafeteria?' another said. ESPN NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum on 'Get Up' Friday, June 27, 2025. YouTube/ESPN Earlier in the show, everyone was busting Windhorst for walking into a live camera shot. Graziano called out Windhorst after he unknowingly walked behind him while on the air. 'Windy is a little lost in the new studio,' ESPN wrote, including a clip of the moment on social media. ESPN's morning shows, including 'Get Up' and 'First Take,' moved from its Seaport Studios home to 7 Hudson Square in Lower Manhattan this month. Tannenbaum, a former GM for the Jets, didn't clarify if his joke was related related to Windhorst's camera mishap. During an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show' in March, James publicly criticized Windhorst, calling him 'weird' and questioning his portrayal of their relationship. 'This guy who says he's like my f–king best friend, these guys are just weird,' James said. Windhorst has extensively covered James' career since his high school days.

NFL analyst predicts New York Giants will have a top-10 defense

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen took some big swings on defense this past offseason, upgrading all three levels with top draft choices and strategically chosen free agents. The question now is, what will this defense look like, and how effective will it be? ESPN NFL studio analyst Mina Kimes believes the Giants can have a top-10 defense in 2025. "I chose this team entirely based on the idea that the defensive line can just completely take over games and ruin the lives of quarterbacks," Kimes said on The Mina Kimes Show. Kimes likes the synergy that the Giants hope to achieve with their secondary, which consists of high draft picks Deonte Banks, Tyler Nubin, and Dru Phillips, as well as recent free-agent pickups Jevon Holland and Paulson Adebo. 'They also added some players in the back end that I think could stabilize things with Javon Holland at safety, Paulson Adebo, Phillips is really good. I really like the combination of Javon Holland and Tyler Nubin together, because I think you can have Nubin playing closer to the box where he's better, personally," Kimes said. The real selling point is still the defensive front seven, which features All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, edge rusher Brian Burns, and rookie linebacker Abdul Carter. "But set that aside. This is all about the front: Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, Abdul Carter, Kayvon Thibodeaux. Yeah, it's a nightmare," she said. "And they're deep, I like the D-Tackles they have. They drafted Darius Alexander as well, and bring in Chauncey Golston. "Every year there's a defense where the pass rush just goes nuclear and I feel like 'why not the Giants?' Why am I crazy to have them at 10?" She's not delusional. The Giants look scary on paper, and Kimes is not the first to let their imagination roam about what the defense can be. The addition of Carter, who the Giants plan on playing all over the field, could make them special.

ESPN's Adam Schefter to dabble in a different role at Travelers Championship

Adam Schefter is expanding his sports media horizons. The ESPN NFL insider will serve as a sideline reporter for the Worldwide Leader at the Travelers Championship this weekend, adding golf to his football-heavy resume. During an appearance on ESPN Radio's 'Unsportsmanlike' on Tuesday, Schefter said he'd be on the grounds at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut starting Thursday with one of the featured groups on ESPN+. Schefter, who has been reporting on the NFL since 1990, admitted earlier this year that he was looking for something more stimulating than breaking football news. 'Interact with people outside your normal world,' Schefter said when asked what he'd like to do outside of television hits and social media during a conversation on 'The Marchand Sports Media' podcast in January. 'It's refreshing. I love stepping out of this zone, on the rare occasion that I can. I like being let out of the cage. And ESPN doesn't let me out of the cage very often.' Adam Schefter on set ahead of Super Bowl 2025 on February 7, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Getty Images Schefter had previously dipped his toes into sideline reporting during an NBA game when LeBron James was with the Cavaliers, which was an experience he looked back on fondly. 'I was doing a Cleveland Cavaliers game on a Friday night in late March, and I'm in the hall, and LeBron walks past, and he goes, 'What are you doing here, did you get lost?'' Schefter said. 'Things like that, that get your juices going a little bit. I love what I do, and I'll do it for a long time,' Schefter said. 'But I love to feel the energy of something that is not familiar to you. That you have not done for 35 years. Where it's new faces in a new place. That to me is a little bit stimulating.'

Media mischaracterizing anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, ESPN star claims

ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes criticized the media's coverage of the anti-ICE riots that have taken place in parts of Los Angeles County over the last few days. Stark images of burning vehicles, rioters spraying painting cars with expletives and the intense back and forth between President Donald Trump and California Gov. Gavin Newsom over how local law enforcement is handling the problems have been among the topics of conversation. "The disparity (between) what's actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it's being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory," Kimes wrote on her BlueSky account. "Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it's like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm." Videos and photos of looting have also taken the internet by storm and, because of it, businesses in the Los Angeles area have boarded up some of their shops in case of more chaos. Fox News Digital saw a T-Mobile store on the corner of 3rd Street and Broadway boarding up in case of another night of protests and rioting in the city. While a security guard protected the property, a repairer worked at the CVS store on the corner of 7th and Spring streets in downtown Los Angeles after several nights of rioting. Attorney General Pam Bondi offered a blunt message to would-be robbers and looters in the deep-blue city on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday. "If you loot a business in California during this, we're charging you with robbery under the Hobbs Act. No longer are the days of non-prosecution for looting. It's a criminal act," she said. Los Angeles law enforcement has made dozens of arrests in the wake of days of protests and riots. Jake Tapper claims Trump is 'not transparent' about health issues amid Biden fiasco

CNN anchor Jake Tapper's Original Sin, his bombshell political exposé co-authored with Axios's Alex Thompson, is facing heat for being a glaring double standard. Spending years downplaying President Joe Biden's health concerns, only to now call for transparency from Donald Trump. The book, which hit shelves Tuesday, has stirred up Washington with its detailed depiction of Biden's rapid physical and mental decline in office. Former ESPN NFL reporter Ed Werder mocked Tapper, posting, 'He sold his credibility as a journalist for access to power - and now expects to profit from the very audience to whom he lied.' Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville didn't mince words. 'And I was saying this since 2022, alright?' Carville told Fox News. 'I think it was a big mistake for him to say he was running for reelection. And I've said it at the time and I will say it now, and I will say it a thousand times.' 'It's not a job for 80-year-olds,' Carville added, noting Biden would have been 86 by the end of a second term. 'I don't know if it's his staff, or if it's the family or who it is, but whatever it was it was just a colossal mistake... I think it cost us the presidency.'
