Elektrobit and Foxconn partner for smart EV platform

Elektrobit has signed a joint development agreement with electronics manufacturer Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) to create a new AI-centric software platform intended to support software-defined electric vehicles (EVs). The partnership aims to innovate and bring to market smart automotive platform solutions that simplify the complexity of vehicle systems, minimise the total expense of ownership, and scale production. The planned smart EV platform will include both hardware and software components. It will also feature a reference electrical/electronic architecture ( a non-differentiating EV operating system, as well as an EV application. Post-completion, the and system is set to become the core infrastructure of the software-defined vehicle (SDV) platform, leveraging the software platform integration offerings by Elektrobit, a German automotive software products and services provider. This will facilitate the operation of several 'high-performance' and real-time electronic control units (ECUs), while also fostering service-oriented architectures throughout various functional areas. Additionally, it will include a semantic vehicle application programming interface (API) designed to accommodate third-party applications. The development of this platform will be bolstered by a continuous integration/continuous testing/continuous deployment (CI/CT/CD) toolchain and a Level three virtualised environment. Elektrobit CEO Maria Anhalt said: 'Elektrobit has a unique value proposition in automotive embedded software development with regards to both development of our own software products, and integration and homologation of large-scale automotive series projects." "Our collaboration with Foxconn is another milestone in the evolution of software-defined vehicles. By combining Elektrobit's automotive software expertise with Foxconn's manufacturing and hardware innovation, we are creating a scalable platform that reduces complexity, shortens development cycles and supports future mobility business models.' Earlier in the year, Cognizant partnered with Elektrobit to advance SDVs' development by incorporating the latter's software development kit (SDK) for EB corbos AdaptiveCore into Cognizant's SDV solution accelerator. "Elektrobit and Foxconn partner for smart EV platform" was originally created and published by Just Auto, a GlobalData owned brand. Elektrobit and Foxconn partner to develop AI-based EV software platform

Elektrobit has entered into a joint development agreement with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) to co-develop a flexible, AI-centric software platform intended for software-defined electric vehicles (EVs). The collaboration will combine Elektrobit's experience in automotive software with Foxconn's capabilities in electronics manufacturing. The partnership aims to create as part of a larger smart EV platform, which will also include a reference electrical/electronic architecture ( and EV application. The goal is to streamline production, reduce overall system complexity and cost, and accelerate the commercialisation of software-defined mobility solutions . Platform design and architecture Once completed, and will form the foundation of a scalable platform for software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The platform will support multiple high-performance and real-time electronic control units (ECUs), with a service-oriented architecture across various functional domains. It will also offer a semantic vehicle API to enable integration with third-party applications. The development process will be backed by a continuous integration, testing, and deployment (CI/CT/CD) toolchain and a Level 3 virtualised environment, aimed at enhancing development efficiency and compatibility. Maria Anhalt, CEO of Elektrobit, said, 'Elektrobit has a unique value proposition in automotive embedded software development with regards to both, development of own software products, and integration and homologation of large-scale automotive series projects." "Our collaboration with Foxconn is another milestone in the evolution of software-defined vehicles. By combining Elektrobit's automotive software expertise with Foxconn's manufacturing and hardware innovation, we are creating a scalable platform that reduces complexity, shortens development cycles and supports future mobility business models,' she added. The initiative is part of a broader effort by both companies to enable supply chain innovation and support the shift towards service-driven mobility architecture.
