Family confirms identity of teen in apparent drowning at East Fork State Park
The family of a missing 14-year-old has confirmed that Joseph Kabumba was the victim of the second apparent drowning at Harsha Lake over Fourth of July weekend. Officers with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources received an emergency call just before 7 p.m. July 6 about a 14-year-old boy who went missing after swimming outside Harsha Lake's swim zone, a department spokesperson said. Kabumba was found shortly before 1 a.m. on July 7. He always wanted to brighten people's days," said Joseph's sister-in-law, Kiara Nichele Bishop. Kiara has set up a GoFundMe to cover the expenses of Kabumba funeral. There, Kiara describes the teen as a kind and loving person who always put others first. The Clermont County Coroner's office has not yet confirmed Kabumba's cause of death. One dead in possible drowning at East Fork State Park, officials say
One person is dead due to a possible drowning at the main beach at East Fork State Park. On Saturday, July 5, officers with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources responded to an afternoon emergency call for a possible drowning. According to an Ohio Department of Natural Resources spokesperson, when officers arrived, a person had been pulled from Harsha Lake. The person was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The spokesperson said that on Saturday evening, officers were informed by the hospital that the person was pronounced dead.
