CBS The Denver metro area and the I-25 corridor are under a Level 1-Marginal risk for scattered severe storms Monday afternoon. That threat increases to a Level 3 – Enhanced Risk for far Northeastern Colorado. CBS Scattered thunderstorms will form early this afternoon in the foothills before moving across I-25. As storms spread into the plains, they will run into more instability, creating a greater potential for severe storms. If storms do strengthen today, some could produce large hail and damaging winds. There is also a threat of isolated tornadoes in Eastern Colorado. CBS High temperatures for the Denver area will climb into the low to mid-90s, with warmer-than-normal weather across the state. CBS Tuesday afternoon also comes with a threat of some scattered storms. Denver and eastern Colorado will again be under a Level 1-Marginal risk for severe weather. Like Monday, scattered storms will develop in the mid-afternoon and spread out into the Eastern plains.

CBS The Denver area is under a Level 2- Slight risk for severe storms on Tuesday afternoon. That risk covers Northern and Eastern Colorado as well, with a Level 1 – Marginal Risk for the Front Range mountains and Southern Colorado. Two inches in diameter hail and damaging wind gusts above 60 mph are the greatest threats on Tuesday. There is also a risk of isolated tornadoes. CBS Scattered storms will begin developing after lunchtime and move Northeast throughout the afternoon. The peak timing for storm potential in the Denver area will be between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. CBS High temperatures across the Front Range will be slightly cooler than normal, climbing into the low 80s. Dewpoints will climb into the upper 50s to low 60s, which will help destabilize the atmosphere and set the stage for that threat of severe storms.

Rare morning severe storms brought damaging hail to parts of Northern and Eastern Colorado. Those areas could get hit again as conditions are ripe for more storms Tuesday afternoon. First Alert Weather Threat CBS News Colorado A very moisture-rich atmosphere led to the development of several severe thunderstorms beginning around 3 a.m. Tuesday. Some storms brought baseball-sized hail to parts of Northern Colorado, such as Milliken. This was the first of two waves. Map shows possibility of large hail in the Eastern half of Colorado CBS News Colorado There are still some questions with cloud cover, temps, and dew points this afternoon, leading to a little uncertainty. Milliken Resident, Arthur Infante shares what the hail looks like in his neighborhood. Arthur Infante, Milliken Resident The threat of severe weather should diminish around 6 p.m. Hail and wind will be the biggest threats for the Denver metro area. Wind could be 60+ mph with hail measuring more than 2 inches possible.

More wet weather with chance for storms moves into Colorado this week

Another week, another round of rain and storms that will move into Colorado. We will start the work week on a quiet note, at least for the first half of the day on Monday, before the chances of rain and storm increase in the afternoon. CBS High temperatures on Monday afternoon will manage to climb into the low to mid-80s across the Denver metro area. Heading out into Eastern Colorado, we could see some low 90s today. That is where instability in the atmosphere will be greater, and the risk for severe weather is higher. CBS The Denver area, parts of Northern Colorado, and the I-25 corridor are under a Level 1 – Marginal Risk for severe weather Monday afternoon, with the threat increasing to a Level 2 – Slight Risk in Eastern Colorado. These storms will begin firing up after 2 p.m. on Monday and continue into the evening. The greatest risks with these storms will be hail and wind for the Denver area, with the threat of possible tornadoes mainly in Eastern Colorado today. CBS Shower and storm chances continue throughout the evening on Monday before transitioning over into more steady rainfall. CBS Overnight, into early Tuesday morning, rain will continue to fall and could leave .50" to 1" of rain in the Denver area, with more rainfall totals in the foothills and south metro neighborhoods. CBS This week will be accompanied by wet weather throughout the week. Each day comes with a chance of rain and storms, with temperatures on Tuesday being the coolest of the next 7 days.
