Natural gas line ruptures in Halifax construction zone

Emergency crews responded to a gas leak at a construction site in the Fairview area of Halifax Friday morning.
Halifax Professional Fire Fighters says it responded to the scene on Dutch Village Road around 8:20 a.m.

At 8:21 AM, #hfxfirefighters responded to reports of a natural gas line rupture in a construction area on Dutch Village Road in Halifax.

A Hazardous Materials Team confirmed the active leak and established isolation zones.
Crews asked people to avoid the area while they worked.
Eastward Energy also responded. It said the area was safely isolated just before 10 a.m. and repairs are underway.
