Car Trek Season 11 is Here With Three Sports Cars for the Price of a Plane Ticket
Time to rejoice, Car Trek is back! We may have lost Clarkson, May, and Hammond in Top Gear and most recently The Grand Tour, but we can at least rely on Ed Bolian of VINWiki, Freddy 'Tavarish' Hernandez, and Tyler Hoover of Hoovie's Garage to bring us another season of Car Trek. This YouTuber-special series just dropped its 11th season, and with the third and final episode of the season coming tomorrow, it seems we're in for several treats. What is CarTrek? If you're familiar with the concept of the two aforementioned shows, then you'll understand and love Car Trek. Three friends, who in this case happen to be rather popular automotive YouTubers, purchase three questionable cars for far too little or too much money and proceed to take them on adventures that those cars have no right embarking on. Each season has a different goal and concept that puts everyone to the test, with AutoTempest and Ticket Clinic usually being the main sponsors of the series. 'The Car Trek audience seems to enjoy our content the most when we are miserable and breaking down in truly terrible cars,' Ed Bolian told me. 'Our 11th series delivers that in an order of magnitude greater than anything we have suffered through before.' default So, what did the trio buy from series sponsor AutoTempest? Ed went German with a 2022 Audi TT Quattro, Freddy stuck to his JDM roots with a 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo, and Tyler followed in Ed's footsteps with a 1999 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class. Neither car is as good as it was when it rolled off the factory floor, and all cost the same as a cancelled flight. If that doesn't spell disaster, then perhaps the questionable modifications they made to each other's cars for a dirt track race in episode #2 might. Will the cars last throughout all three episodes? Probably not, but it'll be fun for sure. Autoblog Newsletter Autoblog brings you car news; expert reviews and exciting pictures and video. Research and compare vehicles, too. Man Buys Forgotten Mercedes-Benz SL 500 for $1,500 After Owner Forgets Where It Was Parked
⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious In an automotive twist that blurs the line between misfortune and misadventure, a 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 that had been lost to memory and neglect has found a surprising second life — thanks to YouTuber and car enthusiast Ed Bolian. The convertible, once a $100,000 flagship of German engineering, had been impounded by authorities after its original owner reportedly forgot where he parked it. Labeled abandoned, the luxury roadster was sold off for a mere $1,500 after racking up an estimated $50,000 in unpaid storage fees. Now, the 22-year-old car has reemerged on YouTube, battered but not completely broken. Bolian, who runs the popular VINWiki channel and is known for outrageous car tales, spotted the forgotten SL 500 on Facebook Marketplace and couldn't resist the rescue mission. Despite having logged over 153,000 miles and suffering from extensive cosmetic and mechanical issues, the car miraculously still ran — though just barely. 'This thing is mechanically totaled,' Bolian quipped in his video, after coaxing the 5.0-liter V8 to life. The car is riddled with problems: a foggy headlight assembly, splintered bumpers, moldy carpets, shredded leather seats, and electrical gremlins that kept warning lights glowing like a Christmas tree. But for Bolian, the appeal wasn't just the low price — it was the story. 'You haven't truly lived until your 'new' car tries to kill you on the way home,' he joked. Even the discovery of a copy of the New Testament in the glovebox added an unexpected twist to the tale. Whether the SL 500 will be restored, flipped, or featured in a future VINWiki escapade remains to be seen. But for now, it's one more unforgettable chapter in the annals of automotive oddities — and perhaps a reminder to always write down where you parked.
