Sony Shuts Down 'Married… With Children' Reboot Plans
After years of speculation and quiet delays, Sony Pictures Television has made it official. The planned animated reboot of Married… With Children is off the table. Originally announced in May 2022, the project had all the right ingredients: the return of the original cast, including Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino, and the backing of Family Guy executive producer Alex Carter. But despite the promising setup, the reboot is no longer in development, according to TVLine. While Sony didn't explain exactly why the series stalled, the company insists the show 'remains very important' to them—a statement that leaves a faint glimmer of hope but little else for fans. It's a frustrating end to a revival that seemed like a sure thing for fans of the iconic television show. The original Married… With Children ran for 11 seasons between 1987 and 1997, becoming one of FOX's most iconic sitcoms. Its sharp-edged humor, unapologetic characters, and offbeat family dynamic turned it into a cult classic that still draws viewers on streaming platforms like Peacock, Hulu, and Pluto TV, GeekSided reported. This isn't Sony's first failed attempt at resurrecting the Bundy family. Years ago, a Bud Bundy spin-off starring David Faustino also fizzled before making it to air. With a wave of '80s and '90s reboots flooding TV, this animated project seemed like a smart move, especially with the original cast on board. But whatever stalled it behind the scenes, it's clear this reboot won't be joining the list of nostalgia-fueled TV comebacks anytime soon. For now, fans will have to settle for streaming the original series and wondering what could have been. All 11 seasons of the nostalgic sitcom are available to stream on Peacock right Shuts Down 'Married… With Children' Reboot Plans first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 16, 2025

Book gives Youngstown residents a voice
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Youngstown history is always a good read. 'Car bombs to Cookie Tables' is a collection of stories put together by Youngstown native Jacqueline Marino. There's one essay on cookie tables, and a little talk about car bombs. It's a collection of essays, poems and pictures that lets Youngstown residents tell the true story of what living here is like. Ed O'Neill is among the people who share their perspectives in the book. It came out in 2015 and was updated in 2020. 'Because I feel like a lot of people do have their own stories, their own Youngstown stories, that might just not have figured out how to tell them yet,' Marino said. 'And all of the writers in this book, they have all gone the distance. They have all gotten that bit of inspiration and carried it all the way through to a written essay.' 'Car Bombs to Cookie Tables' is available at bookstores or online. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Fans React To Ed O'Neill Revealing He Has A Black Wife And Daughter Via TikTok
Social media has opened the door for fans to learn many things about their favorite celebrities that they otherwise may not have known. This week, fans reacted to actor Ed O'Neill appearing in a TikTok with his daughter and learning that she was…*GASP! Black. In the video, his youngest daughter, Claire, stands in front of the camera and mouths the opening to 2Pac's hit diss record 'Hit 'Em Up.' Eventually, the Modern Family star pops into the frame and joins the late West Coast rapper in saying, 'That's why I f**ked your bi**h, you fat motherf**ker.' According to Claire's caption, the video was all his idea; while it was likely meant to just be funny, the 78-year-old actor may not have realized that he was about to break the internet. 'Wait a minute!!!!!????????' one fan wrote on X. 'Al Bundy has been Married… With Children to a Black woman this whole time?!?!?' they added, referencing his breakthrough role on the FOX sitcom. Another fan quoted that tweet and wrote, 'Ed O'Neil having a black wife is surprising as hell.' TikTok commenters also reacted to the fact he has a Black daughter, writing, 'Him having black kids makes SO much sense.' The majority of comments raved about the fact his real-life daughter's name is Claire since his daughter in Modern Family had the same name. Watch the TikTok below. Claire's mother is none other than Catherine Rusoff, who also appeared on Children. The couple has been married since 1986 and has two children together, Claire and her older sister, Sophia. Rusoff herself is also biracial. O'Neill's most recent acting work was playing the Donald Sterling role in Clipped, a Hulu miniseries focusing on the Los Angeles Clippers franchise. He has also appeared on Family Guy, The West Wing, Wreck-It Ralph, and more.
