Neighbours recasts major character for finale as huge return is confirmed
A Neighbours favourite is returning to Ramsay Street for one final time – but with a new face. As cast and crew gather at the cult Australian soap's studios in Nunawading, Victoria today to kickstart the last ever week of filming, the show has announced the return of Elle Robinson. Elle, the daughter of original character Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), originally appeared between 2005 and 2009, played by actress Pippa Black. The star reprised the role for guest stints in 2019 and 2022, the latter being for what was then intended to be the show's finale. However, with less than 100 episodes left to air, Elise Jansen will step into her shoes for what has been billed as a 'dramatic storyline'. This is Elise's third part in Neighbours, having appeared as Eden Hills student Alicia Berry in 2010, and as Erinsborough Hospital Doctor Erin Salisbury in 2012. A statement on social media this morning reads: 'Elle Robinson returns!' 'Now played by Elise Jansen, Paul's daughter will soon be arriving in Ramsay Street, but what's brought her back after all this time? 'Elle's dramatic storyline is set to take us right up to our nail biting finale…' Metro understands that Elle will play a key part in the community-based storyline that will bring faces past and present back together. 'Growing up, it was my favourite show,' Elise told the Sydney Morning Herald. 'And to think that now I've been able to be on it is quite extraordinary.' Elle, who was born off-screen alongside siblings Cameron and Robert, initially arrived in Erinsborough to reunite with her estranged dad. She soon began to lace Izzy Hoyland's (Natalie Bassingthwaighte) food with drugs, and shortly afterwards was involved in a plane crash that the residents boarded to Tasmania. Later, Elle supported Paul throw a brain tumour diagnosis and landed herself a role as a journalist, progressing her career to a lucrative position at the New York Times. It was from her new home that we last saw her, video calling the family to convince them that they should consider a move to the US. Three characters confirmed not to be returning are Scott and Charlene Robinson (Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue) and Mike Young (Guy Pearce). 'I haven't picked up the phone to [them] again,' executive producer Jason Herbison told Back to the Bay. More Trending 'I've left them alone, but it will be very similar in tone. I think it's a very warm, hopeful tone, but it's also a little bit different. 'There are things about it that I think might remind people of the previous finale, but it's also very different.' On Friday, cameras stopped rolling on Pin Oak Court, which doubles as the exterior of Ramsay Street. View More » Neighbours streams Monday to Thursday from 7am on Amazon Prime Video. Fed-up homeowner lashes mystery thief over 'dodgy' late-night act
A proud homeowner has slammed a brazen thief who stole plants from his front yard telling the intruder to ditch his late-night antics and 'get a job' instead. Adelaide man Andy Luke said the garden at the front of his Eden Hills property had been targeted twice in the last three weeks. CCTV footage capturing the latest theft showed a hooded figure ripping several young English hedges from the ground while an accomplice kept watch nearby. He left with the stolen plants at about 2.20am on Monday. CCTV also showed the man ripping plants and irrigation from Mr Luke's neighbour. 'It's pretty despicable, I've put a lot of work into this,' he told 7News. 'Instead of driving around at two o'clock in the morning, get a life and get a job and buy your own plants.' He suspects the thief is selling the plants elsewhere. 'Or they're dodgy landscapers and someone had an order for English hedges and they decided to come and take them,' he said. A man was similarly captured stealing two freshly-planted shrubs from a garden in the same area just after 5am on April 24. In March, a green-thumbed thief snuck onto the porch of a home in Findon, in Adelaide's western suburbs, and lifting two large potted plants. The victim shared footage of the incident to social media. A local nursery, Foliage Plant Studio, pitched in to help - identifying the pot plants as Strelitzia nicolai, also known as Tree Bird of Paradise. The nursery estimated they could be worth around $125 each. 'It's not the first time we've heard of that,' owner Gavin Gregg said. South Australian Police are investigating the theft. 'Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to call Crime Stopper,' a spokesperson said.
