Rod Stewart leads tributes as Scots artists pay respects to rock legend Ozzy Osbourne
SCORES of legends from the music world have paid tributes to Ozzy Osbourne. A statement from the rock legend's family was posted online earlier tonight. It read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. "Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." His bandmates in Black Sabbath posted a powerful tribute after the news, simply saying: "Ozzy Forever!" Scottish music stars and other big names have been among those coming out to pay their respects to the Birmingham-born true rockstar. Among those was Celtic-daft rocker Sir Rod Stewart who posted a message on his social media. The 80-year-old crooner said: "Bye bye Ozzy. "Sleep well my friend. Watch touching moment Ozzy Osbourne says his final words to adoring fans just weeks before rock legend died "I'll see you up there - later rather than sooner." Scottish singer and songwriter Lulu added her own tribute on Instagram. She said: "Sad loss to all who knew and loved Ozzy. "RIP my man…. my condolences to Sharon and the family." Kilmarnock rockers Biffy Clyro also paid tribute saying: "Rest in Peace Ozzy Osbourne." Edinburgh-born TV presenter Gordon Smart said Ozzy was a "true rock and roll icon." He said: "Ozzy Osbourne was an incredible character - absolutely magical to be around. "A true rock'n'roll icon in every sense."

There weren't too many positives to take from Scotland's tour loss to Fiji in Suva but the performance of Fergus Burke at stand-off was certainly one of them. The Saracens 10 found himself making a few more tackles than he had anticipated on his Test debut but he acquitted himself well in what was a relentlessly physical encounter. 'So I think I did about the first line of the song and then let them take over.' Scotland hope to be back on song on Friday when they take on Samoa in the final match of their tour at Eden Park. It is a venue at which the Scots have never won but one that is familiar to New Zealand-born Burke who will have family and friends supporting him in the stands. Burke, who hails from Gisborne on North Island, around 300 miles south-east of Auckland, qualifies for Scotland through his Edinburgh-born grandfather and now finds himself returning home to make his international breakthrough. Defensively sound, with good hands and an eye for putting players into space, Burke impressed against the Fijians on an afternoon when Scotland were second best. He played in Tom Jordan for the Scots' second try but they were on the backfoot for the most of the game. 'I spent a bit more time on defence than I would have liked, and probably ended up making a few more tackles than I would have liked,' said Burke. 'I probably would have liked to spend a bit more time on attack but I guess that's something we can look forward to this week. But when we get our discipline wrong we end up making a lot more tackles than we need to and we're tiring ourselves out against big sides like Fiji and Samoa. So we need to get the discipline side of our game right and that way we can be a bit better.' McIndoe: developing teenage talent is key
Michael McIndoe, Edinburgh City's manager, praised his men for their first-half performance in the nerve-jangling, Group B, 5-3 penalty shootout victory over Stranraer and also stressed the importance of developing young talent. The 45-year-old told Citizens TV that it was important to get a win thanks to a game-winning penalty from Aidan Burgess after back-to-back defeats by Partick Thistle and Queen of the South. Overall, McIndoe's men enjoyed 62 per cent of the possession in the game at Meadowbank. The straight-talking manager added: 'Much more important than that, was having seven 18-year-olds on the bench, a 16-year-old starting and an 17-year-old starting.' They will be monitored in training and in match environments and they will assessed them week by week. The ex-Coventry City and Bristol City winger, who also dressed for Wolverhampton Wanderers, added: 'The youth programme is developing well. 'It is an exciting time for the youth guys. We are averaging 21.5 (years) in the squad. That is fantastic, long may it continue. They are going to get more opportunity than any other club, ion my opinion, in the SPFL to play. That is what we are here for. 'It is part of the passion to develop young players and I will through them in at the deep end to see how they get on.' There were ten Academy players in the squad for the game and Edinburgh-born McIndoe added: 'Getting back to the first half, we moved the ball really well, dominated possession, created three or four really good half chances, but overall really pleasing.' Iconic Scots hairdresser Charlie Miller who styled A-list celebrities dies aged 80

The Edinburgh-born stylist to the stars passed away at Queen's Manor Care Home in the capital. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up He cut the hair of some of Hollywood's biggest names and started the iconic Charlie Miller salon brand. Charlie began his hairdressing career at just 15, cutting the hair of punters at at Bob's Barber Shop in Edinburgh's West Port. But he went on to be one of the biggest names in the hairdressing world. A statement from the firm was released announcing his tragic passing. It read: "It is with great sadness that, on behalf of the Charlie Miller family, we share the news of the passing of our beloved founder, Charlie on Monday 14th July 2025. "Charlie Miller OBE was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015 and spent the last three years in the devoted care of the team at Queen's Manor Care Home in Edinburgh. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. "Charlie's warmth, vision, and unwavering dedication to his craft and community touched the lives of so many - colleagues, clients, and friends alike. "His legacy lives on in every salon chair, every team member he inspired, and every client who felt his passion for excellence and kindness, delivered with genuineness, empathy and warmth. "We are heartbroken as we extend our heartfelt condolences to Janet, sons Jason and Josh, daughter-in-law India, his four grandchildren Isha, Isaac, Eden and Olivia, sister Helen, and the wider family.
