US Comedian Tina Fey, Charlie Brooker and national treasure Graham Norton to feature in Edinburgh TV Festival

Running from August 19 to 22 at the EICC, the annual festival is the UK's foremost television eventthat brings together leading industry figures to debate issues facing the television industry. Other leading industry figures taking part include Michael Sheen, Ros Atkins, Shonda Rhimes, Stephen Lambert and Sir Lenny Henry. The four-day event will include masterclasses, in conversation events, the ever-popular Spotlight Controller sessions, and keynote speeches including the prestigious James MacTaggart Memorial Lecture. One of the sharpest, funniest, and most fearless comedic voices of our time, Fey brings her distinct charm,wit and insight to this lively conversation with beloved broadcaster Graham Norton. Brooker is the creator of the award-winning Black Mirror series, zombie horror show Dead Set, his groundbreaking series Nathan Barley and know for his popular Wipe shows for the BBC. Stephen Lambert, chief executive of the production company behind some of the UK's biggestentertainment shows including The Traitors, Gogglebox and Squid game: The Challenge will record a specialedition of the podcast The Town, hosted by US entertainment journalist Matt Belloni. Lambert is one of Britain's best-known creative executives and will discuss his career and work – and how that work has shaped the UK and US TV industry. Tina Fey and Charlie Brooker Set for Edinburgh TV Festival
Tina Fey and Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker have joined the lineup of speakers at this year's Edinburgh TV Festival. The alternative MacTaggart will be given by satirist, comedian, writer and actor Munya Chawawa. Munya Chawawa to give Alternative MacTaggart lecture at Edinburgh TV Festival
Comedian and actor Munya Chawawa is to give the Alternative MacTaggart lecture at the Edinburgh TV Festival next month. Chawawa, who has become known for his satirical impressions, will make the case for 'why broadcasters underestimate digital creatives at their peril and will issue a call to arms for creative risk'. The annual Edinburgh TV festival, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, will also feature multi award-winning actress and comedian Tina Fey in conversation with broadcaster Graham Norton. Audiences will be able to watch Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker be interviewed, while Stephen Lambert, the chief executive of Studio Lambert, the independent TV production company behind some of the UK's biggest entertainment shows including The Traitors and Gogglebox, will discuss his career and work. Lambert will record a special edition of the podcast The Town, hosted by US entertainment journalist Matt Belloni. Creative masterclasses include deep dives into the making of the biggest scripted and unscripted UK shows of the year, featuring Netflix crime drama Adolescence and reality TV show Last One Laughing. There will also be a live script read of Disney comedy-drama Rivals, and 25 years of Big Brother will be marked with a session called How Big Brother Changed TV Forever. Previously announced speakers include Sir Lenny Henry, who will receive the outstanding achievement award; Michael Sheen, who will be in conversation with advisory chairwoman Jane Tranter; and James Harding, editor-in-chief of The Observer and founder of Tortoise Media, who will be delivering the prestigious MacTaggart Lecture. Tina Fey and Charlie Brooker have joined what is gearing up to be a seriously splashy 50th edition of the Edinburgh TV Festival. Comedy icon Fey, star of 30 Rock and the creator of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Four Seasons, will chat with Irish TV Host Graham Norton on stage on the final day of the fest, which takes place next month. Observer's editor-in-chief to deliver MacTaggart lecture on media landscape
James Harding, co-founder of Tortoise Media, which acquired broadsheet newspaper The Observer in April, will speak about the media landscape during the festival's flagship address. He follows in the footsteps of former keynote speakers that include: Dear England playwright James Graham; I May Destroy You screenwriter Michaela Coel; media mogul Rupert Murdoch; former Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis; and broadcaster Louis Theroux. Mr Harding said: 'Some years ago, I covered the MacTaggart lectures as a reporter and know how important it is for television, journalism and the wider creative industries. I hope it will be a moment to call out the challenges to truth and trust – and suggest how we can renew the media to meet them.' Before he co-founded Tortoise Media, Mr Harding was editor of The Times from 2007 to 2012 and was in charge of the BBC's news and current affairs programming from 2013 up until the beginning of 2018. He also co-presented On Background on the BBC World Service and wrote the book Alpha Dogs: How Political Spin Became A Global Business. Jane Tranter, chief executive of production company Bad Wolf and advisory chair of the Edinburgh TV Festival 2025, said: 'James' demonstrable determination to protect truth and trust in public service broadcasting and the media – coupled with his belief that in order to protect we need to change – makes him the MacTaggart lecturer that we need in this seismic year. 'In James' hands, our lecture promises to be a provocative, kick-ass and insightful view from a visionary leader. We couldn't ask for more.' The festival, which is celebrating 50 years of its MacTaggart lecture, brings together leading industry figures and a broad, diverse range of delegates to debate the issues facing the television industry.
