Egypt-Serbia Trade Triples to $300 Million Amid Strengthening Bilateral Ties
CAIRO - 18 June 2025: The volume of trade between Egypt and Serbia surged over threefold in 2023, reaching $300 million, up from $94 million in 2022—marking a significant leap in economic cooperation between the two countries. Speaking at the Egypt-Serbia Business Forum held yesterday, Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly underscored the remarkable growth in bilateral relations. He expressed confidence that this positive trajectory will continue, particularly following the Egyptian Parliament's ratification—on May 26—of a Free Trade Agreement between Egypt and Serbia. The agreement will gradually eliminate tariffs and quantitative restrictions on the movement of goods between the two nations, paving the way for enhanced trade and economic integration. Madbouly further noted that Egypt-Serbia cooperation goes beyond the exchange of goods, encompassing sectors such as services, logistics, tourism, and strategic infrastructure partnerships—particularly across Africa, along with collaborative efforts in the reconstruction of neighboring countries. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Madbouly personally welcomed Serbian Prime Minister Gjorge Matović at Cairo International Airport, as he arrived in Egypt leading a high-level delegation to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Serbian Ambassador Praises Egypt's Role in Gaza, Highlights Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Nada Mustafa Serbia's Ambassador to Egypt, Miroslav Stojanović, expressed his appreciation for Egypt's pivotal efforts in halting and ending the "hostilities" in the Gaza Strip, securing the release of hostages and detainees, and facilitating the entry of much-needed humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of achieving peace by recognizing the legitimate rights and interests of Palestinians. His remarks came during a speech delivered on Monday evening at Serbia's National Day celebration, attended by a distinguished gathering of senior officials, ambassadors, and accredited diplomats in Egypt. Stojanović stated, "Egypt-Serbia relations are witnessing a golden era, especially following the visit of the Serbian President to Egypt last July and the historic visit of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Serbia in 2022, which resulted in the signing of 11 agreements between the two countries." He further noted, "Several high-level visits to Egypt have taken place, including those by the President of the Serbian Senate, Serbia's First Lady, the Minister of Communications, and most recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs." Stojanović highlighted that a highly ambitious roadmap has been established for future Serbia-Egypt relations, expressing confidence that "the best years of our economic cooperation are yet to come." He also announced that the Serbian Chamber of Commerce has officially begun procedures to open a representative office in Cairo, the first of its kind in Africa.
