Egyptian-Malian Business Forum pushes for economic partnerships with Mali during FM's visit
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Thursday opened the Egyptian-Malian Business Forum in Bamako, a move aimed at boosting economic and trade partnerships, with Abdelatty saying Cairo is keen to invest in Mali's key sectors. The forum was attended by a high-level Malian delegation, including Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop and Minister of Industry and Commerce Moussa Al-Hassan Diallo, as well as a large Egyptian business delegation of 30 company heads and representatives. The Egyptian delegation included representatives from the Federation of Egyptian Industries, the Export Council for Medical Industries, the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Agency, the Egyptian Exporters Association, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, and the Mineral Resources Authority. In his opening remarks, Abdelatty said the Egyptian-Malian Business Forum represented a 'new and important station' in strengthening economic ties and opened 'unprecedented horizons' for the private sectors in both countries to develop partnerships. He said the event was a key step in institutional cooperation, with work underway to establish an Egyptian-Malian business council. Abdelatty expressed Egypt's serious desire to expand its investments in Mali, especially in priority sectors for the Malian government such as textiles, wood, and pharmaceuticals, in line with Mali's national development plans, including its 'Mali Kura 2063' vision. He highlighted that Egypt possesses extensive experience in implementing strategic projects in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and communications. For his part, Malian Minister of Industry and Commerce Moussa Al-Hassan Diallo said his government places 'special importance' on cooperation with Egypt and praised its experience in supporting development on the African continent. He said Mali looks forward to benefiting from Egypt's expertise in infrastructure, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and energy, adding that the forum 'embodies the joint political will to elevate the level of economic and investment cooperation.' Abdelatty also affirmed Egypt's security partnership with Mali, stressing the importance of a comprehensive approach that links security and development to achieve sustainable peace. The forum is a key event in Abdelatty's multi-nation tour of West Africa, which is aimed at strengthening Egypt's political and economic ties with the region.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty inaugurated the Egypt-Mali Business Forum on Thursday in Bamako, Mali's capital, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry. The forum featured broad participation from senior business leaders and representatives of both the public and private sectors from Egypt and Mali. In his opening speech, Abdelatty stated that the forum represents a new and important milestone in strengthening economic and trade partnerships between Egypt and Mali. He noted that Egyptian-Malian relations are currently witnessing unprecedented momentum. Egypt's FM emphasised that the forum opens unprecedented opportunities for the private sectors in both countries to develop partnerships based on integration and mutual trust, reflecting the two countries ' deep historical ties and economic potential. He praised the forum as a practical first step toward institutional cooperation, especially in light of the joint efforts that led to the establishment of an economic working group between the two countries. He also highlighted the ongoing efforts to create an Egypt-Mali Business Council to activate cooperation opportunities across various sectors. Furthermore, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's genuine desire to expand its investments in Mali, particularly in the textile, wood, and pharmaceutical sectors. He also explained that the Egyptian economy, being one of the largest in Africa, has promising investment opportunities. Egyptian companies, Abdelatty added, have ample experience in implementing strategic projects in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, dams, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications. According to the statement, the Egyptian FM reaffirmed Egypt's continued support of Mali's efforts to achieve security and stability and to counter terrorism. He stressed the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach that links security and development. In return, Moussa Al-Hassan Diallo, Mali's Minister of Industry and Trade, emphasised the high importance the Malian government places on enhancing cooperation with Egypt. He also praised Egypt's expertise in supporting development in Africa. Moreover, Diallo stated that the forum reflects the shared political will to raise the level of economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and represents a qualitative step toward establishing a sustainable partnership. Abdelatty's visit to Mali is the fourth destination on his five-leg African tour. Having already visited Niger, Mali, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso, he has yet to visit Senegal. CAIRO, Feb 9 (MENA) - Egypt's ambassador to Mali Mohamed el-Gammal delivered a shipment of medical aid to the Egyptian wing of the Luxembourg Maternity and Childhood Hospital in the Malian capital, Bamako. In a speech delivered on this occasion Sunday, the Egyptian ambassador to Mali said the medical assistance was announced by Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Bader Abdelatty when he received Malian Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop in Egypt last December. Gammal said the step comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the two countries in the various fields, reflecting the momentum witnessed in bilateral relations. The Egyptian ambassador reviewed Egypt's role in supporting the development process in Mali, as well as keenness of Egypt on providing support to the government and people of Mali based on a firm belief in the importance of developmental action; being a key axis of achieving prosperity and stability in the African continent. He noted that the medical shipment provided to the hospital's 'Egyptian wing' is meant to convey a message of pride and appreciation of longstanding Egyptian-Malian relations, and an immediate response to meet the hospital's needs. In this context, the secretary general of the Malian Ministry of Health, the director general of the Luxembourg Maternity and Childhood Hospital and the director general of the Amadou Toumani Touré Foundation headed by the wife of the former president of Mali delivered speeches praising depth of distinguished Egyptian-Malian relations and expressing sincere appreciation of the shipment of medical aid presented by Egypt, underlining the high contribution of the delivered medical assistance in providing treatment for patients.
