No cancellation of land Hajj for Egyptians: Tourism federation - Society
The Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF) on Tuesday denied media reports alleging the cancellation of overland tourist Hajj programs, stating the claims were based on comments made by an individual masquerading as a federation member. In recent days, several news articles circulated, alleging that overland Hajj programs have been cancelled due to upcoming regulations for Egyptian tourist pilgrimages set to be announced soon. The ETF disavowed any association with such remarks, asserting that neither the federation nor any of its board members has released any official statements concerning this matter. The individual referenced in these reports 'is not authorised to speak on the federation's behalf or to issue press statements on any topic pertaining to the tourism industry,' the statement read. The federation said it has initiated an investigation into the matter, according to the statement. The ETF, an industry advocate, also confirmed that no such decisions have been made or announced regarding the cancellation of overland Hajj programs. 'Upon consulting the relevant chamber, it was confirmed that the regulations governing the Hajj are still under discussion and have not yet reached their final form,' the press release read. The statement further noted that the Federation contacted the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (ETTA) to verify the information, and officials confirmed that no decisions have yet been issued regarding land pilgrimage. 'The regulatory framework is still under preparation,' the federation added, explaining that the ETTA's Religious Tourism Committee is currently holding discussions with pilgrimage-operating travel companies to define the key elements of the upcoming Hajj regulations. Ongoing talks are also taking place within the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' Supreme Committee for Hajj and Umrah to finalise the regulations before presenting them to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, a total of 7,500 pilgrims travelled overland, constituting 18 percent of Egypt's tourist Hajj quota of 40,672. Hajj, one of Islam's Five Pillars, is the annual pilgrimage to Mecca required once in a lifetime for all able and financially capable Muslims, though many undertake it more than once. Travel rates in Red Sea boom despite regional geopolitical challenges
CAIRO, July 9 (MENA) – Member of the Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF) Hossam Hazaa said Monday that Egypt is witnessing a remarkable boom in tourism rates during Eid Al Adha holiday, especially in the Red Sea region, despite geopolitical challenges in the region. In a phone-in to the Egyptian Space Channel I, he pointed out that a large number of tourists flocked to Hurghada from various European countries, topped by Germany, Italy and France. Hazaa praised efforts exerted by the Ministry of Tourism to activate tourism in Egypt during international exhibitions. He pointed out that occupancy rates reached 100% in some hotels during the past days. Hazaa described Egypt as a safe tourist destination at all levels, referring to the high demand on Marsa Alam hotels during the same period, which coincides with the summer holidays. (MENA)

ETF: Tourism rates up by 15% due to promotion strategies of state
Member of the Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF) Hossam Hazaa asserted that the rates of tourism increased by 15 percent-20 percent in some touristic areas as a result of the strategies followed by the state to promote for tourism and monitor it to guarantee presenting the services and provide security and stability. In a meeting on Extra News channel on Saturday 29/3/2025, Hazaa said that the state follows touristic promotion strategies that have clear impact. Egypt has great touristic potentials that demand various promotion plans for each country, he said, adding that it is keen on participating in international exhibitions and benefiting from the cultural activities such as inaugurating the Grand Egyptian Museum to promote tourism. Wide-scale Egyptian tourism campaigns were conducted in Ramadan in the Arab and Gulf countries, he said.

Green Sharm El Sheikh Launches Two Sustainability-Focused Apps
The Eco Monitor app and E-Permitting system will facilitate data collection on marine life and the use of natural resources in the area, enabling the project to tailor its conservation strategies. Mar 03, 2025 Two new apps have just launched as part of the Green Sharm El Sheikh project, which aims to transform Sharm El Sheikh into an ecological model for sustainable tourism. The Eco-Monitor app and E-Permitting system will facilitate data collection on marine life and the area's use of natural resources. Covering Sharm El Sheikh, as well as Ras El Mohammed and Abu Ghalloum in the Red Sea, both apps will collect comprehensive environmental data in these areas, allowing the project to formulate its sustainability strategies accordingly. 'In order to become a sustainable tourism destination, we need to know where we are right now,' Mohammed Elewa, Project Manager of Green Sharm El Sheikh, tells CairoScene. Developed in collaboration with the Egyptian Tourism Federation, the Eco Monitor app will collect data on marine life in the Red Sea, with a focus on key species: dolphins, dugongs, sharks and turtles. 'A team of professional divers will report their observations daily and will create a database from this data,' Elewa explains. This will allow the project to monitor red-sea life and tailor its approaches to protecting it. 'After an initial six months, the app will eventually expand its focus to different aspects of marine life, such as coral reefs, and will also open to more divers to participate in data-collection.' The E-Permits system allows tourism organisations to record their activities and to apply for permits through an online portal, and as such, reduces approval times and ensures compliance with environmental regulations. 'The new E-Permitting system is much easier and faster than the traditional paper-permitting system, at no extra cost,' Elewa says. This new system will also facilitate the collection of data on the different touristic activities occurring in the covered area, enabling the project to understand the use of natural resources here.
