Palestinian striker El-Hamlawi leaves Polish club camp without permission

KUWAIT CITY, June 29: Polish club Szczecin Wrocław announced on Monday that Palestinian striker Assad El-Hamlawi left the team's pre-season training camp without obtaining official approval from the club's management. According to Al-Masry Al-Youm, El-Hamlawi has recently been linked with possible transfers to Egyptian giants Al-Ahly and Zamalek during the ongoing summer transfer window. In an official statement released via its social media channels, Szczecin Wrocław confirmed that El-Hamlawi unexpectedly departed the team's camp in Trzebnica, despite having actively participated in training sessions and a recent friendly match. The club condemned his departure, describing it as an unacceptable breach of professionalism. "Assad El-Hamlawi chose to leave the team's camp of his own accord—an act we strongly oppose," the statement read. "His behavior fails to meet the standards of professionalism expected from our players and represents a clear violation of both his contract and the internal regulations of the club and the Polish Football Association." The club also revealed that El-Hamlawi and his agent had been applying pressure on the management to facilitate a transfer, even though none of the offers received matched the minimum release clause specified in his contract. As a result, the club exercised its right to reject the bids. The incident has cast further doubt over the striker's future, as speculation continues to swirl around a potential move to Egypt's top-flight league.
