General manager tells Hearts they've secured a transfer gem

Hearts have been told why their new signing made such an impact at his now former club. Sign up to our Hearts newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Did you know with a Digital Subscription to Edinburgh News, you can get unlimited access to the website including our premium content, as well as benefiting from fewer ads, loyalty rewards and much more. Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... A General Manager has told Hearts they are onto a winner with their latest summer signing. Claudio Braga is the latest recruit for Jambos head coach Derek McInnes this summer. The striker has signed a three year deal in Gorgie after shining in Norway for Moss and most recently Aalesunds FK in the second tier, now linking up with Hearts ahead of their return to pre season. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Tarjei G. Omenas, the GM at AaFK, has pulled the curtain back on how this move eventually panned out from their point of view. He only has good things to say about Braga and has told Hearts they have signed a special player who was a prized asset for them. Hearts latest signing handed big sell He said: 'It is of course tough to sell Braga in the middle of a season where we want to be fighting at the top. We have had dialogue with Braga over time, but when the interest in him grew and he himself wanted to take the next step in his career, we felt this was the right choice. Both for us and for him. 'The goal of this sale is still to come out stronger both sportingly and financially. Braga has been an important player for us on the field but also a big profile off it. We thank him for his solid efforts and truly wish him all the best in his career.' Hearts signing's fond farewell Braga has also sent an emotional message to his now former club. He said: 'I feel happy, of course, because it's a great move for me. The happiness is very big but I also feel sad, in a way, of leaving AaFK. Especially knowing that I'm not letting the fans know on the pitch that it's my last game. It was a great time living around the city with everybody. The fans were amazing, the guys on the team were amazing. The guys in the staff, everybody, the sporting directors, everybody literally helped me a lot. It was literally a pleasure to be here. Hopefully I can still come visit and see some games in the Eliteserien. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'I wish that we go up because I also get a medal! No, it's because the city deserves it, the fans deserve, the guys that support the club for a long time. They deserve so much. People that, before I was born, they already supported, came to the games. They deserve to see this club in Eliteserien.' On Hearts, he added: 'It means a lot for me. It means a lot for my family because it's not only my win. They live this as much as me, for sure, and they watch all my games. They suffer a lot with my losses, with my victories. I'm far away from them, so they suffer even more for that. So it means a lot knowing that for me and for them, these three and a half years in Norway alone didn't go for nothing. It was for a good cause and that worked out really well. 'So I'm really thankful to the supporters, to all the people in both clubs that I was involved in and also in Norway, everybody from Norway was really good. This means a change of life, of course. It's a dream come true to play in the first league in such a big club. It's amazing, actually.'

Contenders to replace Thomas Frank as Brentford boss after his move to Tottenham

Here, the PA news agency takes a look at the candidates to replace Frank, who had held the position since 2018. Kieran McKenna Town fans, Thank you. 💙 Today marks the end of a challenging season, but tomorrow marks day one of a challenge we will attack, together. COYB. — Ipswich Town (@IpswichTown) May 25, 2025 Relegation from the Premier League has failed to tarnish McKenna's reputation as one of the brightest British coaches around. The fact McKenna guided Ipswich into the top flight after they were in League One as recently as 2023 highlights his undoubted talent. With the ability to mix free-flowing football with pragmatism, the 39-year-old could be a good fit for Brentford and was linked with several prestigious vacancies last summer. Kjetil Knutsen Bodo/Glimt boss Knutsen has earned admirers for his work at the Norwegian club, where he has taken them from Scandinavian minnows to Europa League semi-finalists. Knutsen has won four Eliteserien titles during his seven-year spell and been mentioned as a candidate for roles at Rangers, Celtic and Leeds in recent seasons. Could the prospect of a Premier League job tempt Knutsen to leave Bodo? Kasper Hjulmand Could Kasper Hjulmand be an option? (Bradley Collyer/PA) If Brentford want to keep some Danish continuity at Gtech Community Stadium, they could try to replace Frank with compatriot Hjulmand. The former Denmark boss has been out of work since he left the national team last summer, but is a familiar face to certain members of the Bees' squad. Captain Christian Norgaard, Mathias Jensen and Mikkel Damsgaard were all regulars under Hjulmand, who impressively managed his nation to the Euro 2020 semi-finals under emotional circumstances after Christian Eriksen's cardiac arrest. Danny Rohl A left-field option given his lack of Premier League experience, but Danny Rohl has masterfully navigated his first managerial role. Sheffield Wednesday were destined for relegation before Rohl, 36, turned around a sinking ship and last season helped them finish a respectable 12th place. The German coach has been linked with a string of Bundesliga jobs. Ange Postecoglou Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties. — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) June 6, 2025 Ange Postecoglou may be due a deserved break after a roller-coaster two years at Tottenham and even though him switching jobs with Frank seems unlikely, stranger things have happened. Postecoglou was dismissed by Spurs after a poor Premier League campaign, but ended the club's 17-year trophy drought and has won silverware in virtually every job. Would the Australian be tempted by an instant return to England's top flight?
