This £6.75 product from The Ordinary is my summer pedicure must-have

When TikTok tells you to put a facial toner on the soles of your feet – namely The Ordinary glycolic acid 7% exfoliating toner (£6.75, – you, of course, give it a go. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. The craze first came to my attention when TikToker Elle McNamara appeared on my FYP, pointing out the sub-£10 product as the key to quick, exfoliated feet. As someone who's spent many an evening pre-holiday with pumice stones, foot files and sugar scrubs in hand, I was naturally intrigued. In the video, McNamara says, 'This is the most underrated hygiene product. Apply glycolic acid onto a cotton pad onto damp feet. It eats away your dead skin. Follow with a layer of vaseline, put some socks on and thank me later.' With my glycolic, cotton pads, Vaseline and socks ready to go, I thought to myself: 'It can't be this easy. Can it?' Keep reading to see how I got on. How I tested The Ordinary glycolic acid 7% exfoliating toner: With an aim to use the product over the course of three nights, I applied The Ordinary's glycolic acid to the soles of my feet using a cotton pad, saturating it generously. I then rubbed a pea-sized amount of Vaseline onto each foot and quickly slipped on some cotton socks to lock in the moisture and left the duo of products on my feet through the night. During and after testing, I recorded the following details: Efficacy: As someone often pressed for time, I was keen to see if this unique use for TO's glycolic would present instant results, or require repeat, consistent use. Value for money: This toner is very affordable, but if I need to use a third of a bottle every time I use it, that 'budget buy' is quickly going to rack up a serious expense. Likewise, if I need to use it 10 times as much as a pumice stone, it likely won't prove as cost effective. Long-term results: The real clincher – how long will this toner leave my feet looking smooth (if at all)? Why you can trust IndyBest reviews Lucy Smith is a skincare expert and has been reviewing the industry's newest and most popular products for more than five years. For IndyBest, she's demonstrated her exfoliating know-how with expert-led pieces on salicylic acid and, after speaking with Kate Somerville, the benefits of lactic acid. She's tested several of The Ordinary's best-sellers, from its multi-active delivery essence to its SPF serum.

Keep out of the heat if you can. If you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter. Cool yourself down. Have cold food and drinks, avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes. Keep your living space cool. Close windows during the day and open them at night when the temperature outside has gone down. Electric fans can help if the temperature is below 35 degrees. Check the temperature of rooms, especially where people at higher risk live and sleep. Another commented: "They also have a spray that works well." "Tried it - works like charm! especially in the summer," penned a third. Meanwhile a fourth said: "It most definitely works 100%, I only use it like 2 times a week and it's magic." "It's amaaaaaaazing, hands down beats any product for sweat,' claimed a fifth Advertisement Someone else added: "I always love your hacks they always work so well for me."

Elle continued: "Apply these before bed and they smooth out wrinkles, they boost collagen, heal the skin, and they keep hydration in overnight which basically makes your skin look juicy and youthful. Another commented: 'Sorry what?! I need these in Australia." How to reverse ageing in just 2 weeks, according to royal go-to nutritionist LONDON -based Gabriela Peacock, who has helped the likes of Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie prepare for their weddings. She told Fabulous: 'The science is evident that we all have the power to make simple life changing alterations to better our future selves - no matter what genetic hand we might have been dealt with. 'The reality is, we all sometimes indulge in unhealthy eating habits like processed foods, smoking cigarettes, drinking too much alcohol, inhaling city pollutants, and even drinking water from plastic bottles – none of this is good for us. 'All this does is promote the ageing process, but we all have the potential to change this.' It may be hard, but try to keep away from sugary carbohydrates, because they feed chronic inflammation, which is one of the worst enemies of reversing ageing. Now only will you end up putting on weight if you consume them regularly, but your energy and hormonal levels will be affected and this will influence how you look and feel. Whatever your age or state of health, it's never too late to reverse how quickly you are ageing and embrace the energy and vigour of a younger you. Antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C, and E, are essential in neutralising free radicals—the culprits behind premature ageing. Integrating a spectrum of colourful fruits and vegetables into your diet provides a potent source of antioxidants. Omega-3 fatty acids, abundant in fatty fish like salmon and flaxseeds, are vital for maintaining skin elasticity and hydration. Omega-3s act as nourishment for your skin, locking in moisture and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. Collagen, a structural protein dwindling with age, can be replenished through collagen-rich foods like bone broth and lean protein sources. "I buy it, her skin is amazing. Also I think these are essentially Frownies which are an actual product sold for this purpose!" penned a third. Meanwhile a fourth said: "So you've had no Botox? Best skin ever." "Can't wait to try this,' claimed a fifth. Someone else added: 'I use the scar gel and it's really good."

That's because women are obsessed with a horse shampoo and claim it helps locks grow way faster. The hashtag has over 16 million posts on the social media app, and one of them is Elle McNamara (AKA The beauty whizz recently shared a video of her 'unsexy hygiene products' for the summer and it was at the top of her list. READ MORE BEAUTY TIPS She wrote: "Every comment section on hair growth Tok recommended HORSE shampoo. "I have no idea on the science behind it but you know what - hell yeah." People in the comments section of the post were equally stunned and intrigued by the haircare product, One person wrote: "Horse shampoo???" Most read in Fabulous Another commented: 'I've literally never seen this shampoo used on an actual horse." "Mane and Tail omg I used that when I was about 14," penned a third. My hair fell out in clumps due to diet of takeaways and Coke but I had a turning point But the question is, how does it work? According to the company's site, it is jam-packed with Collagen, Biotin, and Keratin, which support cell growth, strengthen hair, and provide moisture to help maintain hair length. While many say it helps grow hair quickly (with some stating three inches of growth in just one month,) there might be something else at play. The hair range was originally created for horses, and was developed to repair split ends and prevent breakage. So, the quick hair growth people rave about might be from less breakage at the ends, rather than new hair coming from the root. Because the shampoo has added keratin, it's best to use it every other hair wash day rather than all the time. While keratin can make hair stronger, too much of it can make it brittle and more likely to snap off. 4 reasons your hair is thinning From fixing it to faking it, your guide to healthier, thicker hair from Trichologist Anabel Kingsley. 'Hair thins naturally as we get older because like our skin and muscles, the hair ages and changes,' Anabel Kingsley, trichologist at Philip Kinglsey explains. It can also be because of genetics, made worse by other health factors like menopause or thyroid disorders. 'Hair follicles very gradually shrink and produce finer and shorter strands with each passing hair growth cycle,' she adds. But while we can't help things like genetics or the ageing process, we can do something about some of the other causes of hair thinning. Here are four, fixable ones you need to know about. 1. Your hormones are raging 'Leading up to and during your period, the scalp may become oilier, which may trigger flaking and itching if you are predisposed to dandruff - and leaving an irritated scalp untreated can lead to hair loss,' says Anabel. Loss of hair post-pregnancy is very common too; 'After giving birth or stopping breast-feeding, oestrogen levels drop and return to normal,' Anabel explains. 'This can cause all the hairs retained during pregnancy to shed at once (usually six-12 weeks later), known as postpartum hair loss.' Don't panic, this is only temporary, but experts recommend you start taking daily hair supplements to support the hair's growth. 2. Your hair can't take the heat 'Heat drains moisture from within the hair shaft and because our hair's elasticity and strength is largely reliant on its water content, hair can become dry, brittle and prone to breakage,' Anabel explains. To prevent damage in the future, Anabel advises using a low setting on your heat styler, straightening only once a week and switching off your blow-dryer when your hair is just dry, as 'using heat on completely dry hair will evaporate water from the hair shaft'. 3. You're stressed 'Hair is non-essential to physical survival so it will always be the first part of you to suffer when something is off-kilter,' Anabel says. Stress affects the scalp which can have a negative impact on the eventual health and growth of the hair. 'Stress spikes cortisol levels which in turn increases oil production,' adds Anabel. 'Cortisol, a stress hormone, disrupts the skin's barrier function and triggers skin irritation which is why your scalp gets itchy and flaky when you are going through a stressful period.' 4. You're eating the wrong food 'Diet is incredibly important to hair health,' says Anabel. 'Being a non-essential tissue, hair is the last part of us to benefit from nutrients we ingest and the first to be withheld from them.' Avoid mercury-rich fish like tuna and also full-fat dairy like cheese if you suffer from dandruff. 'This can trigger flaking and itching which can then lead to hair thinning,' she says.
