Indian Ambassador to Egypt hosts U-17 squash team for Junior Worlds in Cairo
New Delhi: Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh Reddy hosted India's U-17 Squash Team representing India at the World Junior Squash Championships. The Ambassador also congratulated Anahat Singh for her historic bronze in the individual junior championships. India have sent an eight-member contingent to Egypt with four players each in the men's and women's categories. "Ambassador @AmbSKReddy welcomed the U-17 Squash Team representing India at the World Junior Squash Championships in Cairo. We are proud to see the success of @Anahat_Singh13 , who won the Bronze Medal in Women's Singles, ending the drought after 15 years!" Embassy of India in Cairo shared the glimpses of an event on X. The 17-year-old Anahat, who became the first Indian squash player since Dipika Pallikal in 2010 to win a medal at the junior worlds by clinching a bronze, will be leading India's challenge at the World Squash Junior Team Championships, which will run from July 27 to August 1 at Cairo's Black Ball Sporting Club. Anahat will be joined by Anika Dubey, Unnati Tripathi and Navya Sundararajan in the Indian women's team that has been clubbed in Group B alongside Hong Kong, Brazil and Ireland. The four-member India men's team, featuring U17 Asian champion Aryaveer Dewan, Arihant KS, Yusha Nafees and Sandhesh PR, has been drawn in Group E. They have been clubbed alongside Japan, South Africa and Germany in the group. As many as 22 countries and 38 teams are participating in the World Junior Squash Team Championships. There are 22 participants in the men's draw, while 16 teams are part of the women's section. India are yet to win a World Squash Junior Team Championships title. Squash is set to make its Olympic debut at the LA 2028 Games.

Indian Embassy to launch cultural festival in Assiut, film fest in Cairo
The Embassy of India in Cairo has announced a series of cultural events in August, including a cultural festival in Assiut, a film festival in the capital, and a caricature competition focused on yoga. The Indian Cultural Festival, held in collaboration with the Assiut Governorate, will take place on Aug. 5-6 at the Cultural Palace in Assiut. The event, to be inaugurated by Assiut Governor Hesham Abu Elnasr and Indian Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy, aims to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries. The festival will feature a lineup of activities including Indian classical dance (Kathak), Bollywood dance performances, Indian music, a yoga flash mob, the screening of Indian films and documentaries, and an exhibition on 'Incredible India.' In a separate initiative, the embassy is collaborating with the Abla Art Foundation, Fayoum Art Centre, and Egypt Cartoon Blog to host a 'Caricature on Yoga' competition. The contest invites artists to creatively depict the practice and philosophy of yoga. A jury will select the top three winning entries, who will be honoured with trophies, certificates, and cash prizes at a special award ceremony at the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture in Cairo. An exhibition showcasing all selected entries will also be held at the centre. From Aug. 10-13, the embassy will present the Indian Film Festival at the Henager Cinema in Zamalek, in collaboration with the Cultural Development Fund of Egypt's Ministry of Culture. The festival will showcase four acclaimed Indian films: 'English Vinglish,' 'Goodbye,' 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,' and the global phenomenon 'RRR.' Screenings will begin daily at 7:00 PM. The embassy said the events are part of its broader efforts to promote cultural diplomacy and foster people-to-people ties between India and Egypt.

‘Mango Mania' festival boosts Indian mango presence in Kuwaiti markets
KUWAIT CITY, July 27: The Embassy of India in Kuwait, in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), launched a large-scale promotional campaign to market Indian mangoes and other agricultural products. The campaign included festivals in major shopping malls and hypermarkets, as well as meetings between exporters and importers, on July 23-24. In a press statement, the embassy explained that the goal of the event is to strengthen India's position as a reliable source of high-quality mangoes in the Kuwaiti market, especially since Kuwait is among the top five importers of mangoes from India, with a value exceeding $3 million last year. The campaign included a major event titled 'Mango Mania', at Lulu Hypermarket in Al-Rai, which was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Adarsh Swaika, with the participation of a delegation of 10 Indian exporters. The delegation presented several Indian mango varieties, such as Chausa, Mallika, Amrapali, Dasheri, Fazli, and Langra from Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Fazli mango received special attention due to its Geographical Indication of Origin (GI) label. Meanwhile, the embassy organized a meeting between Indian exporters and local importers at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI); with the ambassador, KCCI director general, and representatives of major retail and hypermarket companies in attendance

"Closely monitoring situation": India urges Cambodia, Thailand to prevent further escalation of hostilities
New Delhi: India on Saturday said that it was closely monitoring the situation following border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia urging both nations to cease hostilities. It has advised its nationals to avoid border areas and stay in touch for assistance. Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal in a statement today said that India hopes both sides- Thailand and Cambodia- will take measures for cessation of hostilities. Jaiswal also shared helpline numbers for Indians in both countries. "We are closely monitoring the situation along the border between Cambodia and Thailand. India has close and friendly relations with both countries and hopes that both sides will take measures for a cessation of hostilities and prevention of further escalation. In an official advisory message, it said, "In view of the ongoing clashes at the Cambodia-Thailand border, Indian nationals are advised to avoid travelling to the border areas." The Embassy also said that in case of any emergency, Indian nationals may approach the Embassy of India, Phnom Penh at +855 92881676 or email [email protected]. Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Thailand issued an advisory on Friday, following clashes near the Thailand-Cambodia border, urging Indian nationals to avoid travel to seven provinces in Thailand. The Mission advised travellers to check for updates from Thai official sources such as TAT Newsroom, the official online newsroom of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The deadly conflict on the Thai-Cambodian border pits a longtime United States ally with decades of experience against a relatively young armed force with close ties to China. The two countries are fighting over territory disputed since colonial power France drew the border between them more than a century ago, CNN reported.

A decades-long border dispute between the two countries erupted into an intense military confrontation involving jets, artillery, tanks and ground troops on Thursday, after which the United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting on Friday. AFP on Friday reported Cambodia called for a ceasefire with Thailand. The report cited Chhea Keo, the country's ambassador to the United Nations. Quoting Keo in a social media post, AFP mentioned that Cambodia asked for an 'immediate unconditional ceasefire".
