Firefighters battle outbuilding blaze in Abbotsford, B.C.
Firefighters worked to contain an outbuilding fire in Abbotsford, Tuesday.
Motorists are being advised of road closures in Abbotsford, B.C. as firefighters battle a blaze that broke out in a pair of outbuildings Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in the 4800 block of Sumas Mountain Road at around 4:20 p.m., and arrived to find heavy smoke erupting from a blaze that had spread across two large structures on the property, the City of Abbotsford said in a statement.
'Crews are actively working to contain the fire with the assistance of BC Wildfire Service,' the statement said.
All residents made it out of the structures safely and there are no known injuries, said the city. Emergency Support Services have been called to assist the residents of the property.
The BC Wildfire Service said it assisted with two helicopters, after receiving a report shortly before 5 p.m.
In a statement posted to social media platform X, the Abbotsford Police Department advised commuters of a closure of Sumas Mountain Road, in both directions between Dawson Road and Foxglove Lane.
As of 6:30 p.m., the fire was deemed under control. Its cause remains unknown.
