Kuwait Basketball Association chairman meets Azerbaijan Ambassador to boost sports ties

KUWAIT CITY, July 3: Dhari Barjas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Basketball Association, welcomed His Excellency Emil Karimov, Ambassador of the State of Azerbaijan to Kuwait, at the Federation's headquarters in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Halls Complex, Sabah Al-Salem. The meeting featured friendly discussions on enhancing sports relations between Kuwait and Azerbaijan, with a special focus on basketball. Both sides explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation, including the possibility of hosting the Azerbaijani national basketball team in Kuwait and arranging for the Kuwaiti national team to play friendly matches in Azerbaijan. Chairman Barjas wished Ambassador Karimov continued success and prosperity for Azerbaijan, appreciating the ambassador's first visit to Kuwait's sports federations. Ambassador Karimov expressed gratitude for the warm reception and extended his hopes for deeper collaboration to advance basketball development in both countries. The visit concluded with a ceremonial exchange of commemorative shields between Dhari Barjas and Ambassador Emil Karimov.

‘Kuwait-Azerbaijan ties strategic, on right track'

KUWAIT CITY, March 24: Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Kuwait Emil Karimov affirmed that his country's relations with Kuwait are strategic and progressing at a rapid and advanced pace at all levels. In a press statement on the sidelines of the Iftar he hosted recently; Karimov said the official and public relations between the two countries are strong and deep in political, cultural, religious, and other fields. He pointed out 'There has been remarkable development in our bilateral relations. The first round of political consultations between the two countries was held at the beginning of this year.' He revealed that his country's foreign affairs minister will head the delegation to the third session of the Joint Bilateral Committee, which will be held on April 29. He also cited the first-of-its-kind visit of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah to Azerbaijan to attend the Climate Conference held in the capital, Baku, last year, which he affirmed was a success. He added the meeting between His Highness and Azerbaijani President strengthened the friendly relations between the two countries. He reiterated that his country welcomes Kuwaiti tourists; disclosing that more than 31,000 Kuwaitis visited his country last year. He affirmed the presence of infrastructure to receive Kuwaiti tourists; and that his country has many cities and tourist sites, in addition to the availability of direct flights.
