Anti-Trump rally shuts down Washington St.
Large anti-Trump protest heading down Summer St. and shutting down part of Tremont St. — Emily Spatz (@emilymspatz) Lexington resident Fran Ludwig, 83, came out in support of climate change policy. She said the country is 'moving backward.' 'The urgency of climate change demands a government that's going to move us forward,' Ludwig said. 'There's nothing we can do legislatively to stop it at this point, but that's why we're here today, to say yes, we are resisting.' 'I'm protesting against the dismantlement of the government for the public good by Trump, a self-serving billionaire with (Elon) Musk,' said Richard Allen Lesage, 69, of Cambridge. 'I'm coming here to ask for respect for the Constitution. We are not an autocracy, we are a democracy.' Cambridge resident James Mulloy, 60, said he couldn't believe what was happening in the country and that he was considering leaving the country because of the Trump administration's policies. 'The US is shameful. I'm ashamed to be an American,' Mulloy said. 'I suggest you leave the country if you can.' Emily Spatz can be reached at
