Acknowledging Mr. Clark's outstanding accomplishments in the field of aviation, The Wings Club Foundation will present this award on Oct. 17, 2025, at the 83 rd Annual Awards Gala to be held at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York. Article content Article content Mr. Clark has been in the civil aviation business for his entire professional career, having joined British Caledonian in 1972. Article content In 1975, he moved to Gulf Air in Bahrain and subsequently in 1985 to Dubai where he became a member of the founding team of Emirates as Head of Airline Planning. Article content In 2003, he became President of Emirates Airline, driving the company's continued rapid growth into the world's largest international airline serving over 140 cities on six continents. During his tenure, Mr. Clark has successfully steered Emirates through multiple ups and downs in the aviation industry, including a remarkable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic into record profitability. Article content Between April 1998 and March 2008, Mr. Clark was also the Managing Director of Sri Lankan Airlines, the latter position resulted from Emirates' acquisition in April 1998 of a major stake in the airline with full management control. Article content Mr. Clark is Chairman of the Emirates Airline Foundation, which he was instrumental in founding. The Foundation strives to improve the welfare of disadvantaged children of the world. He was appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director at DP World in June 2022; and appointed to The Dubai International Chamber Board of Directors in February 2025. Article content In the 2014 Queen's New Year's Honours list, Mr. Clark was invested as a Knight of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) for services to British prosperity and to the aviation industry. In November 2009, he was conferred an 'Officier de la Legion d'Honneur' by the French government for services to transport and aviation. Article content Mr. Clark holds a degree in Economics from London University and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. The Emirates Group has officially launched a large-scale global recruitment campaign to hire over 17,000 professionals during the current financial year. The move comes as part of its ambitious growth strategy and aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to further strengthen Dubai's position as a global economic hub. Spanning 350 diverse roles, the recruitment drive covers opportunities across both Emirates Airline and dnata, a major international air and travel services provider. Vacancies range across key sectors including cabin crew, pilots, engineers, sales, ground handling, catering, IT, HR, and finance. dnata alone is set to hire more than 4,000 specialists in cargo, catering, and ground operations. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group, stated: 'The Emirates Group's people strategy is anchored in Dubai's Economic Agenda D33 and our own projected growth and expansion. Emirates Airline and Dubai Duty Free are set to allow crypto payments for flights and duty free merchandise, due to two new agreements with global digital asset platform set to be implemented next year. HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman, Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group announced the news in a post on X on Wednesday. An MoU was signed in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, between Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer and Mohammed Al Hakim, President of UAE operations, Emirates announced in a press release issued on Wednesday. Kazim said: 'Partnering with to integrate cryptocurrency into our digital payments system reflects Emirates' commitment to meeting evolving customer preferences, in addition to tapping into younger, tech-savvy customer segments who prefer digital currencies,' as per the press release. 'This strategic move is in line with Dubai's vision to be at the forefront of financial innovation while at the same time providing our customers with greater flexibility and choice in how they transact with Emirates.' The news comes as Bitcoin surpasses $112,000 for the first time on Wednesday. 'We're delighted to complete the signing of this important MoU with Emirates Airline,' Eric Anziani, President and COO, said as per the press statement. 'As we continue to expand the everyday use case for crypto, integration with exceptional partners such as Emirates will bring real momentum to the digital asset industry and enable both companies to offer genuine innovative finance solutions for our customers. We look forward to working together as we continue to build our crypto offering in the GCC.' In addition to exploring payment integration, Emirates and will also explore leveraging promotional marketing campaigns to create awareness and encourage adoption of this new payment solution. Dubai Duty Free experiences record sales of AED7.901bn in 2024 The airline's latest partnership comes as Dubai positions itself as a global cryptocurrency hub. For the past three years, UAE has developed a comprehensive regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, earning confidence of global players seeking predictability, innovation and favorable tax regimes. A number of Dubai companies are already accepting cryptocurrency as a form of purchase from real estate developers to major telecoms. Earlier this month, The Dubai Land Department has signed a partnership with to develop a blockchain-powered investment environment for virtual real estate allowing for people to buy, sell and invest in property. In 2024, UAE attracted crypto investments worth more than $30 billion - a regional record, according to Khaleej Times.
